    Still have my ticket stub from this one! They actually had 3 stages they toured with, it took 3 days to set up one stage and 2 days to take it down so while they were playing one city, they were tearing a stage down in one town and building another stage in another. The band just hopped stage to stage, city to city...

David Gilmour can make a guitar, talk, sing and cry all at the same time. i am glad to see young people getting into Pink Floyd and your journey has just started. DON'T STOP !!! and your comments at the end were heart warming to this old man (66). if it was not for their song, "Wish you were here" i would never had taught myself to play guitar. good luck on your Pink Floyd journey

      The Beatle's made the guitar gently weep. Gilmour made it scream out in the agony all the emotions of a severely broken heart, somehow making that as beautiful as an especially beautiful sunset. Nothing less than a magic masterpiece and the best guitar solo I have ever had the pleasure of listening to and in concert even on that very tour. It's not exagerating to say, that concert truly was a life and mind altering experience, I will NEVER forget.

    • @Reno-Sousanz
      @Reno-Sousanz 3 года назад +2

      @@bruun1974 You've just described it precisely. David Gilmour has the ability to control your emotions with six strings. I had the opportunity to attend a Pink Floyd concert on the Pulse tour, and Comfortably Numb was the pinnacle.... we were all comfortably numbed, hypnotized with Gilmour's playing. Certainly: one of the best days of my life, no doubt about it.

    Pink Floyd is, and has always been, a band that stands out from the crowd. They are exceptional and one of a kind. They're so good they created their own genre. No other band plays music like Pink Floyd do. And although "The Wall" and "The Final Cut" are more Roger Waters solo albums, they're still unbelievably good with the rendition of "Comfortably Numb" on the "Pulse" tour a magnificent proof of their abilities and David Gilmour's prowess on the guitar. Nice to see you broadening your musical education by checking out the legendary Pink Floyd! The post-Syd Barrett version of the group developed such a fantastically lush sound, and David Gilmour could play the most sublime extended guitar solos. He is proof that guitarists don’t need to play at 180 mph to make people’s jaws drop in amazement. “Run Like Hell” is another great song to check out from the band, and they do a fine version at this very concert. Finally, if you decide to branch out into merchandise, you need to pair your catch phrase, “If you don’t agree with me, we’re going to have a bit of a problem; let’s fight!” with a picture of you smiling angelically. That would look great on a T-shirt or coffee mug! 😄 Rock on! 🤘🏻

I bought the 8-track version in '74 or '75, cassette in '77, compact disc in the late eighties or early nineties. I've also owned special editions of it as well, a Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab virgin vinyl LP and a Super Audio CD, both of these were recorded from the original master tapes and the sound quality is insane.

      @@d.a.w.975 Well, while cassettes were invented in the mid '60s the technology and ability to hold a full 40-50 minute album wasn't there yet. Plus the sound quality was poor and it also meant you had to buy a whole new system to play your music. As a teen in the '70s making $2 an hour working part time, and who already had an AM/FM, 8-track, LP sound system which cost about $30 or $40 bucks and paying between $3-$5 for an album or $4-$6 for an 8-track cartridge it didn't make sense. Besides, if you could afford a cassette player you had to get up and turn it over to listen to the second side. By the mid '70s I had an underdash 8-track player, that cost about $15 bucks, in my car. Sony had produced the Walkman personal cassette player, with headphones, that cost over $40. In the late '70s with advances made in recording quality, Dolby noise reduction, and prices coming down for tapes and players it was a little cheaper to convert, plus newer cassette players came out with "Auto reverse" which changed sides without removing the cassette.

    Not just the music, the story of the band is fascinating. They rose to the top in the 1960s, with Syd Barrett as the star. But as soon as they got there, they lost him to drugs and mental illness. Probably knowing he wouldn't go on with them much longer, Syd brought in guitarist David Gilmore and they struggled for a few years without him, but together ending up filling the void left by Syd amazingly. The beautiful part, eventhough he quit contributing, they continued to send Syd a share of the money. Considering him still a band member, until his death in the mid 2000s.

    Nice presentation and historical synopsis. You're not related to the legendary skateboarder Jerry Hsu, are you? Probably not, but just checking.

    TIP:...Always use headphones when you are listening to Pink Floyd. Especially the studio versions of anything from Animals, Dark Side of the Moon, and The Wall. You will know why within minutes.

    David Gilmour's fingers translate his emotions into sounds. Perfection! The best recorded rendition for this song ever.Recommend the songs Dogs, Pigs and/or Sheep from Pink Floyd's Animals album.
