  • This is an unboxing of the solo, travel wargame Pacific War 1942 Solitaire. It is published by Worthington Publishing/Games.
    Pacific War 1942 places you in command of the Allied naval and land forces in the Pacific during World War II. The Japanese AI tries to expand its empire early in the game and overwhelm the Allies. As the Allied player must hold and then push the Japanese back to Japan. Both sides command armies and navies throughout the Pacific. Further, control of the sea areas greatly influences land battles and progress in the Pacific.

    I’ve been having a lot of fun with this one (and its War of 1812 sister game). Sometimes I’m not in the mood for a super-in-depth war game, so this is perfect for that. It kind of reminds me of a stripped-down States of Siege style game.

    I picked up this one and the 1812 game too. They are as advertised- quick playing, high quality components and very portable. Both games are fun and are great when you want a quick taste of gaming. Definitely a gaming “snack” rather than a “meal”, but satisfying.

    Thanks for this. It looks more engaging than 1812. I spotted a typo as you opened the rules. The name of Chiang Kai Shek was misspelled.
