I thank you very much for taking time to sharing your adventures with theses videos. I found your channel because I was looking to purchase a boat for lake near me. I have never own a boat of any kind. My only boating adventure was on a friend’s 12 John boat as a child. I know nothing about boats but after some research I determine a catamaran was the type of boat that I felt the most comfortable with. So like many others I started checking information about catamarans on you tube and found your channel. Over the past weeks. I have watched almost all the videos you have posted. This video was really the only one that you took time and discussed in detail how you sail your boat. I thank you so much for trying to teach how to sail but the information was way above my head and completely confusing. I really hope you will keep teaching us out here how to sail but also remember there are people like me that find the information you take for granite as magic.
We really like the instructional videos. We (wife and I) will be taking our first ASA course this spring and moving into the more advance courses to follow. The white board and explanation of everything is very helpful to us. Our dream is to do exactly what you're doing. We love your videos and you both are the best!
After years of watching sailing videos someone finally goes into the different sails and their uses. It only makes sense that this videos would come from you two! Thanks... Keep up the awesome videos!
Love, love loved the episode. Seeing that you sail to reference materials helped demystify how you know what to do and when. Of course you probably have it down to memory for your boat but I always wondered how beginning sailors safely got through the learning curve.
I m a Canadian that lives on the north shore of lake Erie and I am leaning to sail. I have been watching you from the beginning. Thank you so much for that video that was so well done. Cheers and keep the great videos coming.
Excellent video and perfect explanation - As an old racer, the mindset has to change cruising and shorthand magnifies the need for safety first. Thanks for the quality video.
Definitely keep the whiteboard😍😍😍😍!!!...Now I understand why you explain things about sailing SO WELL and naturally...you are genuine, but also very humble...not like others that are more into showing off😒and a little too cheesy?🤣
That was a blast. Cheers for the info for non sailor. Really inspired to also do what you doing now. You guys are the best and conduct yourselves so well. Lots of blessings from inland South Africa.
I like your reefing philosophy. As a pilot, I've always been conservative when it comes to safety judgments. It doesn't pay to play on the edge. (it's also not good for one's marriage) :)
We like the whiteboard, your teaching style and valuable info! John has his Canadian Yachting Association and Coastal Navigation Certifications. We live in Florida now and are taking a boating safety course from the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. We plan to start with sailing the Caribbean. Lori and John
WE LOVE the whiteboard sessions. You're great teachers. Also, Ashley...you MUST share where your suits are from! They're all super cute. And I could definitely use that suit that covers your shoulders! (You guys should totally get swimsuit & sunglasses sponsors if you haven't already.)
very practical demonstration. I knew nothing about sailing but now I may buy a small boat to sail around the harbour for practice. The white board is very informative.
Great vid...Great photography, Great aerial footage, great commentary...great, great ,great everything!!! Just another AMAZING video!!! This is why I watch your channel!!!!!!!!!!!!! PEACE OUT! Ü
Very informative. I've never sailed in a catamaran, so it's interesting to see some of the fundamental differences between that and a monohull. The explanation and demonstration were great, even if you were a novice. Happy sailing.
Thanks for the little white board thing. I remember my optimist instructors as a kid right now. Very educational. Taking that big half orange thing out of the biggest Santa`s sock ever seemed dead easy and stuffing it back in too. At least the way you show it. Spinnakers can be treacherous like the hobbit`s trip to Mordor. ;-) We used to eat a lot of spinach like Popeye before flying the spinnaker.
I'm viewing all you r videos now. this was one of your wonderful because you got very good Insight. In how you feel while sailing. Digging their videos. Absolutely fantastic. You live the dream❤️
Nice . Didn’t know you were instructors. I stopped the video and went and got a bench and now I’m just one of the kids. Thanks and keep it up , which of course can be taken many ways
Love the whiteboard. I watch for the fun and adventure, but I don't know jack about sailing, So the whiteboard certainly helps understand what your talking about.
Hi Ben / Ashley, Thanks! Great with the whiteboard and the information for us 'nubes', keep it going please! Could you also recommend a case and mounting system for the iPads that you use for the nav station please?
Ben and Ashley, I checked your location. You are near Boracay island. OMG never miss to see it. A popular tourist area. I was born in Iloilo, now residing in Toronto, Ontario. I never see the island myself. Lol...Pls check it out. Cheers!!!
Great video! You guys are so awesome. Please keep the whiteboard, it really helps me understand what you're saying... You two are simply the best on RUclips in my onion... Thank you!
Fascinating for a guy who knows f - all about sailing (and people who know a bit no doubt) It's easy to see you were teachers, comprehensive education with whiteboards :)
hi I live Bremerton Washington and have lot's of different places and conditions to sail in. I just want to say thank you for this video on the different sails and how they are used . spin, zero ,main /gen I have just bought a 40" island pack and it needs some work and new sails now I know what I want and how to use. it has been a while for me sailing so as soon as I am ready I will become a world citizen, so sails are something I want but not all the sails so thank you for explaining the use of the spin and zero .
I love my asymmetrical for downwinding on my cat. It’s easy to fly single handed. A lesson from sailing Impi was to add a Tylaska shackle to the tack and in a second you can dump all the power out of the sail and pull down the sock. Keep the white board it’s great 😃
That's cool. Thanks for sharing. The other thing I've seen is run the sock line thru a ratchet block attached to the boat. That way when you go to douse, all the upwards load is going thru the ratchet block. Hope that makes sense....
Thx. I looked it up on Impi site and it could be an exciting way to douse, pull the trigger, pop the guy or sheet shackle and let half the sail free fly while quickly dousing it with the sock I will try it!
You know I agree keep the white board. I really took your point if you think it do it. That really is a very safe way to protect your sails to safety of the Cat. I think that was your best one. Well up to the point when you started wrapping your head with the sail TIE!!! Cut him off Ashley!!!! Lmao
This was great. I especially like the rule, "when we talk or think about reefing, we reef." More sailing lessons with the whiteboard, please. You might make a cardboard silhouette of your boat so you can slap a new one up there quickly. (I'm a professor, so pedagogic tools are always on my mind.)
This is a ton of information thank you so much for posting. I can’t wait to buy a catamaran go out with you. Next time your in the Gulf of Mexico come to mobile AL love to go sailing with you
Great vid, once again. Helpful given all the sail plan choices available. Cant recall if you carry a pole at all for poling out the CZ or Genoa. Also, thoughts on A sails and storm jibs? Seems like your combo is ideal and easiest for trades. Lastly, is your CZ furler a torsion cable system which needs to be cranked very tight?
nice job on the sail inventory and of course the 101 on how to use them , luv the White board, sometimes it’s good just seeing how the boat functions and the systems you use . Luv your work great vid 🙏😎
I just wanted to add, whiteboards are the best. I would love a playlist for all the sailing lesson vids. Great stuff, thx!
FINALLY! Someone explains the sails to a non-sailor! Very well done. More of this, please. :)

Thanks for explaining how this works for us non sailors.
Very informational and love the white board!!
That was a blast. Cheers for the info for non sailor. Really inspired to also do what you doing now. You guys are the best and conduct yourselves so well. Lots of blessings from inland South Africa.
Love the whiteboard!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the spinnaker!!!!!!!!!
I like your reefing philosophy. As a pilot, I've always been conservative when it comes to safety judgments. It doesn't pay to play on the edge. (it's also not good for one's marriage) :)
The last part: 100%. The first part.... Just costs more money
You have given a quick but effective lesson on the sails or choice thereof. Thumbs UP - Thanks - Whiteboard YES
Fantastic session and so well explained with the white board. Thanks for sharing. You have the best quality video of all sailing channels.
Look like I will be watching this one a few times- until I am able to teach it. Makes a lot of sense! Thanks guys. Safe travels
Ha, I was a sailing instructor's student for 9 years as a youth in a junior program for racing instruction. Funnest time in my life.
very practical demonstration. I knew nothing about sailing but now I may buy a small boat to sail around the harbour for practice. The white board is very informative.
I like the whiteboard. I’m a visual person and I admit I have two whiteboards in my office. They are always in frequent use!
Love the whiteboard - I need to see visually. Love the lessons.
Love the White Board! You guys hit it out of the Park - every video. Nice Sail! HAHA love the sail tie.
Great vid...Great photography, Great aerial footage, great commentary...great, great ,great everything!!! Just another AMAZING video!!! This is why I watch your channel!!!!!!!!!!!!! PEACE OUT! Ü
One of your best and most informative videos, for that matter anybody's cruising videos.
Larry Kirkendall Nailed it didn’t they?! 👌🏽
Excellent presentation in the sail assortment!
Very informative. I've never sailed in a catamaran, so it's interesting to see some of the fundamental differences between that and a monohull. The explanation and demonstration were great, even if you were a novice. Happy sailing.

White board rocks. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome video!!! Keep the whiteboard. I love your videos. What's the difference & benefits between asymmetric and symmetric Spins.
The white board is great!!!!! Don't stop using it. Thanks

Love the informative teaching. Great refresher course. Thanks so much for all your help.
As we are getting ready fly to France for the delivery of our catamaran this summer, this is really useful, thank you.
Congrats! Soo soon!!!
How does this channel not have more subs?! Seriously amazing content each and everytime. You two are awesome.
Great video! You guys are so awesome. Please keep the whiteboard, it really helps me understand what you're saying... You two are simply the best on RUclips in my onion... Thank you!

@@MrMilothedog the easiest way to see this is to look for "sailing Impi " Brent did a nice video on this.on you tube.
Thx. I looked it up on Impi site and it could be an exciting way to douse, pull the trigger, pop the guy or sheet shackle and let half the sail free fly while quickly dousing it with the sock
I will try it!
We may try it as well! Used to do this racing but never thought of it for cruising! Thanks 🙏
Simply the best ~!!!!!!!! Have wanted this chart for a long time and not just talk about it, you provide. Thank you. 😊👍👌🤘♥️⛵️🚣⚓️🍷✨
Unfortunately, a bit disappointed that the chart was only available as a patreon and that wasn't mentioned in the vlog. Bummer for all us followers.
I love the fact that Ben's pointer is a beer bottle!!!! Love it!
Really enjoy these episodes!
I have never liked screwing around with a spinnaker. A main a Genoa and a JIB are all I need.
Love the whiteboard and instructional vids.
Simply love it. If ever you are heading for Mauritius. ..please please let me know. I live there..
Nothing like showing off your new toys, love y'all.
Very informative, thanks for taking the time in putting that presentation together 👍
As wanna be sailors we love your videos and are thirsty for informative videos like this one. Keep making em I say 👌👍💓😍🙏
Good job on explaining sails. More of this about sailing is excellent. 👍
Love the "how to" videos. Especially the ones on fishing. You two really know your stuff!

You are very good instructors 👏
I like these sailing ed videos. Good stuff!
definitely keep the whiteboard. love it, thanks
loving your vids, best on the tube
Excellent episode.
Beautiful spinnaker - looks like my countryman Thor Heyerdahl's modern "KON-TIKI". Have fun you two....
What a great episode, very informative. Huge fan from Brisbane Australia. Sail within your limits. Stay safe!
Fantastic episode guys. I'll be using this for crew training...
You guys are awsome! Hope to meet you out there some day! The white board is a keeper :P Cheers
You know I agree keep the white board.
I really took your point if you think it do it. That really is a very safe way to protect your sails to safety of the Cat. I think that was your best one.
Well up to the point when you started wrapping your head with the sail TIE!!!
Cut him off Ashley!!!! Lmao
I love the whiteboard! What are your thoughts on Jennikers and Code D sails. I'd really love to hear them.
Another great video. Thanks for sharing some of the decision making process.
This was great. I especially like the rule, "when we talk or think about reefing, we reef." More sailing lessons with the whiteboard, please. You might make a cardboard silhouette of your boat so you can slap a new one up there quickly. (I'm a professor, so pedagogic tools are always on my mind.)

Thank you!
Ok. That was fun to watch. Thanks
love you guys... i've been a sailing instructor for 14 years ;-) I live by the whiteboard ..
Also Coron and El Nido in Palawan...
Awesome guys...you are so full of energy. Thanks for the lesson👍👍

Dope hat Ashely!! Big love to you guys from the Kootenays.
Love the new Sail !
Lovin the white board - - - - & I'm stealing the "start with something".
Great advice and good seamanship that most sailors live by..........if you're thinking or talking about powering down/changing sails, reefing DO IT!
nice job on the sail inventory and of course the 101 on how to use them , luv the White board, sometimes it’s good just seeing how the boat functions and the systems you use . Luv your work great vid 🙏😎
Yes, whiteboard. Nice tech video as always. Thanks.
