I will never forget my childhood joy, it created my personality, I was shaped by the best memories a child can get out of a video game
I played dungeon defenders 2013-present, and I am amazed at how great this game is.
Salutations! I started playing DD1 like a couple weeks ago, just cleared lab assault on Insane Hardcore for the first time and am learning a bunch. This was an interesting video to stumble across.
After looking at your channel definitely adding a sub. I want to learn as much as I can about this game to catch up to some friends who've been playing this since their childhoods.
Dungeon Defenders eternity was a remaster of Dungeon Defenders that had things like ALL heroes available from the start as well as most costumes available at the start. I found it decent over all. It added things like power ups such as a flash heal amulet. Pets were hatched from eggs found in maps. It also added additional maps that at the time were NOT In Dungeon defenders. Such as Omenak and Dread dungeon among others. All heroes could equip 2 weapoms that they could switch on the fly. I really liked the added content alot.
Were it fell out of favor was it's actual performace. It suffered from SERIOUS lag at times as well as some interesting dfense changes. DU and MU was now one in the same meaning it was now haved. Instead of having 60 du AND 60 MU on the deaper well you had 60 DU to work with.
One thing they broke to hell was sumooner minions You know how they feel attack speed wise in DD. In eternity it was like firing a single shot musket then having to hand relode it AND they had HORRID range to add to that. they had HORRIFIC range. Archers adn mages weere COMPLETELY useless! They listened and retooled them as a result they became pretty much the only offensive towers used since they now had MASSIVE range and fired like gattling guns! Seriously on par or even better than harpoons.
Hardcore was only for the crazy or stupid players since it was PERMADEATH! They were going to add afeature to ressurect your hero in tavern via an item or service but as far as I know that never materialized.. Why was this for the Stupid or crazy only?
The aforementioned LAG FROM HELL! It was nothing to start a map like endless spires and start dead because you lag spiked off the map before you gained control of your hero!
Online utilized playverse witch was actually a double edged sword It required the service to run but they would take it offline from time to time for maintanance. They geve plenty of notice and it never felt aweful when they had to take it down for servicing. The online functionality is LONG dead and the game is NOT listed for sale on steam. According to the almighty internet gods IF you can find a game code that was NOT used you can always redeem it and play the game in offline mode. I did NOT have it installed when the game's online shut down so I lost OVER 600 hours of progress! Luckily the offline version is basicly lag free since running off your hard drive.Good Bad and UGLY IF you can get your hands on the game I would totally reccomend giving it a try since you enjoy the original so much.
I started playing dungeon defenders a couple months ago, and it's by far one of my favorite games ever. I love it so much and only plan to play it more : )))
crazy this video came out 1 day ago i been trying to get back into it this week convincing all my homies to get it too, waiting for that autumn sale all dlc should be like $10 total!!!
here is a tip for your HCUIM run u can press - and + to change the size of your huntress traps so u can stack a bunch of them in a tight spot to all hit the same enemy at 1 time (might be helpful for harder ogres)
Awesome video ❤
something worth mentioning with DD2 is that due to it being a free game and also due to the nature of the game, alts are rampant, CG only allows one alt per player but i mean think about it, a good chunk of those players are probably just alts lol (DD1 has alts too but they are paid so not as many people run them)
Got back into dd1 for the 100th because of finding your channel. I was gonna actually finally give dd2 a full try a few weeks ago. Thinking it has like 1/2k average players but yeah when I saw like 400 on I said nope sticking with dd1 lmaooo
DDE was fun while it lasted, it had some nice QoL changes that spruced up the game but would’ve been too invasive to add to DD1. It also had some unique features and content, some of which did end up being ported to DD1 after/before DDE was shut down.
The game came packed with dlc content that you would normally pay extra for, but it didn’t have everything which led to some worse feedback and less replay-ability overall.
I spent a fair bit of time on that port of the game, and it had a decent player-base for awhile. It wasn’t a total flop, but it wasn’t a success as it did have less content than the original game leading to no permanent longevity. Awakened suffers the same tragic flaw, the game is sadly too time-gated and geared around progression for devs to keep trying to force a bleeding player-base to restart. After seeing eternity get shut down without ever having finalized its dlc content… seeing awakened pop up was like a slap to the player-base and frankly i dont think they have ever recovered from that. Player totals started dropping more around that time, as they also did around the time dd2 released. We saw a short burst iirc from all the people trying dd2 for the first time but after most people decided it wasn’t worth the time; dd1 never saw those players return in any large capacity. Its worthwhile to note that dd1 was already suffering large player drops due to less content releasing as dd2 was near completion and more information about it was being revealed on forums (most of this information was being brutally contested by community as negative, and interest for the game started to die down before it even released. The sequel was expected to fail before it even released largely due to monetization, and so much effort being placed in developing a moba mode which ultimately got trashed alongside half a dozen other heroes which we still haven’t seen return to the dd universe.
If they want to seriously revive it, they should launch dd1 as free to play. Raise price of all dlc, pump out more dlc. Port the game to current gen consoles and prev gen consoles, if possible maintain it with updates but it isn’t required since the game is already in such a complete state. The potential to buff numbers if they made these changes is immense, they could use the excess funds to promote further funding on more content or even on fully porting dd1&2 to unreal engine 4 for better stability/performance while hopefully not resetting progress or making people buy the game yet again lmfao. If they actually managed to do all this, i think they could even eventually port to UE 5.5 to see drastic changes to visuals and performance but we can only pray. There are cases of other indie studios successfully porting from UE3>4 and others going from UE4>5 but none who skipped 4 so they would probably need to take things one step at a time. With more complexities available with the newer engines, mayhaps they could even eventually implement dda style graphics as an optional texture pack for dd1, and be able to successfully monetize all the assets they’ve already refurbished for that game.
this made me download the demo of the other games!
i don't even consider trying the other games, DD1 is the only one for me. i'll be playing this master piece till i die.
I wanted to stay open minded and really give them a shot and in my personal opinion they dont even come close to the beauty of dungeon defenders 1
Dungeon Defenders Eternity was a remake of DD1 from 2014.
Surprised it even has 0.7 average.
Servers are offline, you can no longer purchase the game anymore.
I think there is an offline version possible but its not supported and will never get any updates.
It had it's differences... two that I remember are characters actually had a short hop-dash... and pets were hatched from eggs.
A lot of the maps in DD1 were ported from DDE... I think even some mob models too they moved over more recently.
They stole a lot from DDE for sure, haha.
If I remember right, they ported over Infested Ruins from DDE, but the boss had to be completely recoded... I don't remember details, but it's always interesting to me ^^
Idk, man, for me personally DD1 will forever be my most played game and favourite in the same time. Put a bit over 8k hours into it, at least half is AFK shop, yes, but oh well, love the game, and ima stop playing it only when I get bored of it, no matter the stats 😂🤷🏽♂️ love the vids bro
Wow 😭
I think people really want a DD2, Not the moba we got that has the name, Not the couple of clone remakes, An actual DD2, The community is still there, Still interested but theres only soo much you can do the same content over even with a new hero
if awakaned woudint be 50$ i probly get it lol
I got 2k4 hours on DD last time i try the game after the new update 13hours straight after i make the choice that game are not healthy for myself😢
tdlr play the og
Poppagems my player name I'm playing it now
Game will never die
Oh man this franchise had potential to be huge but they made big mistakes during the development of DD2. Eternity was basically a bad remaster/remake of the original game.
