- Painting with oil pastels during summer is being a bit of a challenge so I’m incorporating more Neopastels than Sennelier

Many many thanks 😊❤️
What’s amazing with paintings is how in the beginning they always look so boring, so basic and then in the end….wOW!! These oil pastel paintings are really something! 💙💙
Thanks a lot! 😊 it’s always the same, they look terrible for a long time and suddenly a few touches later the seem like a different painting
This is one of your stunning oil portrait, very eye catching! ❤️
Thank you very much! ❤️
Hello Yolanda, I started to put my selected sennelier oil pastels in the fridge for an hour before using them that way they are less greasy and it is like drawing in springtime, hope this helps
Thank you! ☺️ but it’s not enough for me, it’s really hot here inside and also I like to hold the 5-6 that I’m using on my left hand which heats them up even faster, they get mushy
@@YolandaBlazquez Ah, I'm only doing that with pastel pencils, I guess holding the oil pastels makes a lot of sense. Beautiful video as always
I like this video. It's much better and I can learn. Thank you
Glad to hear that!
Makes me want to try oil pastel. I would love to see how you did the drawing 🙂
I hope you do, they are really fun and I love the “simplicity” of them 😊
wow
Beautiful portrait! Your channel always inspires.
I just started oil pastels, but I worry I bought too soft a brand as the sticks melt in my hand. I wonder if it's okay to keep them in the fridge?
Thank you! Sennelier’s almost melt in my hand too when it’s hot. I think it’s fine to place them in the fridge to cool them down and harden them again
Bellllezaaaaaaquedo divina ♥️♥️❤️❤️❤️🍀🍀👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋💯💯💯💯
Muchísimas gracias 🥰
I've just discovered your channel. You're so talented! I used Sennelier oil pastels for the first time today (and first time using any oil pastels). I found them more difficult to use than I thought 😂 but it is summer here (30+ degrees), so that may be why. If you don't mind me asking, what is the blending stick you use? Is it specifically for oil pastels?
Thank you! Hot weather makes them much harder to use, they get very very soft so I prefer Neopastel during summer and Sennelier for the rest of the year although I always end up mixing them somewhat. The blending stick is a regular paper stump for pencil drawings 🙂
😅 please make a video on how to draw a picture with pencil like the one you shown before using the oil pastels
Nice❤
😊 thank you
yeah~~~~~~new video~
🥰
Beautiful painting 😮 I use both of those brands.
Thank you 😊 both brands are fantastic
I Welcome You paint portraits beautifully, whether they are specific people or imaginary ones

Amazing Art
Thank you ❤️
Can we request on your good and patience of you slow oil pastel painting? so that we can follow you, Thank you so much🥰🥰🥰
I have long tutorials in real time but they are on my Patreon 🙂
I would love to know how you learned about color theory :) your illustrations are always gorgeous
Thank you! I will consider it, I wanted to record a color theory video but my way of applying the "theory" is so simple that I’m not sure anybody would be interested 🙈
Great job
Thank you 😊
I'm actually too broke for that expensive tools 😢 can u recommend some good cheap oil pastel for beginners like me? than neo or sennelier pastel, I really admire your artwork ❤️
I think Mungyo Gallery are very similar to Neopastel ☺ In the video I have comparing brands you can get an idea of their texture and opacity. I would get a set of those and a couple of sticks from Sennelier, specially the white.
@@YolandaBlazquez I will definitely check it out, Tysm for replying to my comment, i really need this ❤️❤️❤️
Why dont you keep them in the fr8dge and use them when you need them?
That works briefly, I like to keep several in my left hand as I’m painting and they become mushy
can you please tell me what colors you have been using?
😀😀
I don’t know the particular colors, sorry 😅 but I have a video dedicated to color palettes
Would you mind sharing a list of what colors you used?
I’m sorry, I never pay attention to the colors that I use unless I’m going to record a tutorial
❤️❤️❤️
Is it camel artist
color? I wanna buy this. Can you tell me the brand
I used Neopastel and Sennelier’s oil pastels to paint it
What type of paper do you use for oil pastel? ( I just buy a set of oil pastel but i don't know how to use them)
They are a bit tricky, don’t be discouraged. I like sanded papers made for soft pastels but also regular printing paper. You can use them almost on anything but to me it’s important that it has a little gran and that it’s a somewhat absorbent surface. No satin or coated papers. Many people use them on hot pressed watercolor paper
@@YolandaBlazquez oh I have bunch of watercolor paper (130gsm)

Im always amazed how you get the skin so perfectly smooth, your work is always stunning 😍
Thank you so much! 🥰 lots of blending
Beautiful Yolanda. Love the way you do skin tones. And the flowers around her hair are gorgeous. Thank you for showing us how you do it. Much love Susan 👍❤❤❤🎨🌸🌸🌸
Thank you so much to you Susan for the lovely comments 🥰
I've only ever used the hard wax style oil pastels, so I find it amazing that something like this can be achieved. Amazing 😍
Thank you so much! The quality of the paints plays a big role ☺️
Really Artistic 🎨😍
I have also subscribed your channel to keep watching your wonderful videos 📸
Keep it up 👍🖌️🥇🏆
Thank you so much 🥰 I appreciate it
You are most welcome dear 🤗☺️
I bought a big cooling pad (usually used for cooling sprained ankles or stuff like that) and when i want to paint with my sennelier oilpastels in the summer i put a paper towel on the cool pad (i store it in the freezer) and then i put all the colors i want to use on the pad, so between using them i get a short cooling break and they actually stay quite nice and usable during the summer heat.
My mom suggested me to do exactly the same! And maybe even put the palette on one of those bags that keep the temperature. I’m glad to know it works
@@YolandaBlazquez Listen to your mom 😄 it actually works. Also wanted to say that I love your art! 😍
Thank you 🥰 moms are usually right haha I will give it a try next summer if I remember! @@ciznuk7
Very nice painting! What surface are you working on? Pastelmat?
Yes I am! 😊 thank you
Hi Yolander, put your pastels in the Fridge and they will work for you........then find a way to keep them cool whilst working. You can even buy Oil Pastel holders to help x
Thanks for the tip! They get too soft soon after I take them out of the fridge because I keep them on my hands but I’ll look at pastel holders
What kind of paper , brand name, grams, let me ask, do you use?? Veo que hablas español,, si me puedes dar el nombre en español sería genial. Excelente by the way 👏
What for Paper do you use?
Pastelmat 🙂
I like to ask you : what type of paper do you use for Oil Pastel, is especifically for that technique for certain, what brand ?
I am from India and i like your arts when i use oil pastel colours so my art goes bad
Oil pastels are quite difficult, it takes time, don’t give up 🙂
Thank you so much mam and in hindi dhanyavad

Very nearly tempting me to try more traditional art, but I like the lack of mess from digital art. I have loved watching your videos so far, looking forward to more! ❤😊
Thank you! ❤ I understand that, I also started as a digital artist 😊oil pastels are the messiest medium I’ve tried but watercolor, colored pencils and even traditional oils can be used in a very clean and mess-free manner
This is amazing!!!! What paper did you use please?
Thank you! I use Pastelmat
hi can you share the reference pic or the pencil outline
Wud love to see wat colours u use for darker skin tones
Me too, I want to try it 🤞🏻
When people add things like make up to their drawings with oil pastels and oil paints it actually feels like you’re painting lipstick onto someone it’s so cool
Actually it does! 😇 specially if you apply some semi translucent layer, it feels like a lipgloss
@@YolandaBlazquez Woah I bet that’s so stunning and satisfying to paint!
What a breath-takingly beautiful painting! Thank you for sharing!
My pleasure 😊 thank you so much
Very nice
You deserve billion views😍u r incredible...I can't describe ur talent in words🙏
That’s so nice of you to say ❤️ thank you!
Very beautiful work, you must do commissions! May I inquire, I notice that you use both Mungyo and Van Gogh brand pastels, in your opinion which of the two blend more easily? I have some Van Gogh and am looking at the Mungyo's. Sennelier's are out of my price range! Cheers! 😃
Mungyo! I bough 5 pastels from Van Gogh and found them to be pretty dry and chalky, which is weird since they are oil pastels. Mungyo blend well, I’m quite satisfied with them. I’m planning on making some lightfast tests because I don’t know how well they’ll hold🤞🏻
@@YolandaBlazquez Yes, in some of the colors (60 count set) there's more binder in them than others. However, in videos I've watched using many different brands there was always some that were like you say more chalky than others. 🙂
@@kdj.imagery4317 oh thank you, I didn’t know that, maybe I got the odd ones
❤👏👏
Your artwork it’s incredible! I never thought that oil pastel could be so amazing and get that final result! Congratulations 👏🏻👏🏻 and do you think cheaper brands can be used to draw a portrait ? Because sennelier is very expensive 😢
Thank you very much! I haven’t tried many brands but I have a video comparing a few. In my opinion Mungyo perform similarly to Neopastel and I like them a lot. With a set of those and a few from Sennelier to complement or at least their white, you can do a lot
Hi Yolanda, your artwork is beautiful and I’m just wanting to try them out because I did a double portrait on drafting film with colored pencils, which are use very often especially for portraits or soft, pastel, etc. and I messed up the background. Nothing would stick to it until I saw video from some other artist that said oil pastels adhere very well to the drafting film and I was able to put a background and the drafting film which excepted it perfectly where it had been damaged by erasing and washing off so I want to try to do a Whole portrait with oil pastels that is. I have not heard you say that you’ve used drafting film. Do you not recommend using film? If you advice against the drafting film what paper do you prefer to use? Thanks so much ……PS on your Patreon site do you talk about the colors you use and why in certain places , in other words give a more detailed explanation of the process. Thanks again look forward to hearing from you, Brenda Morgado
Hello Brenda, I can’t help you with that since I’ve never used that film, I’m not even sure I know what it is. I’m used to paint on paper for most of the works I do so it’s always my first choice (other than linen for oils).
On Patreon I tell exactly the colors that I use for each tutorial and explain why. Some tutorials are more in depth than others and vary in length from half an hour to several hours in real time.
Have a nice day!
❤️❤️👏👏👏👏👏👏
Love ur artworks ❤
I’m glad that you like them ☺️
I LOVE YOUR ARTWORK, Yolanda. Could you please tell me what do you film with? Also, if we're looking to go into pastels, which sketchbooks are best with a rough surface?
Thank you so much 🥰 my equipment is pretty basic but it does the job: canon 200D with the standard lenses (18-55) and a tripod. If you have a decent phone you can use it to record instead. About the sketchbooks I really don’t know, for quality paper I always find it better to make your own, this way you get to choose the paper.
@@YolandaBlazquez would it be rude to ask about what software you use to edit? im having problems lately
Su che carta lavori……? Complimenti, bravissima. In passato ho provato anche io ad usare i pastelli ad olio, ma li ho trovati difficilissimi da lavorare. Vedendo te, mi viene voglia di riprovare😊
@@zainabaleemart I used Adobe Premiere Pro for my first videos but for a long time I’m doing everything on my IPad on the app LumaFusion. It’s very simple to use

So beautiful! It’s amazing how many different techniques there are for oil pastels… The results you get are a wonderful… I am a watercolor artist, and I love regular soft pastels, but I’m really trying to get a hang of these. Without using solvents and brushes :-)
Thank you so much! Without solvents, brushes or even a palette :D that’s the biggest appeal for me, just pastels and paper needed
Amazing. From rough texture to blended perfection.
Many thanks! ❤️ The skin is quite blended but everything else has more texture
