its a great option: you don't like it, you don't use it, for everyone else is a great option that lets us the whole FoV without needing a ultra wide screen
This is prolly one of my only gripes about the game is the ratio needed to play pvp competitive.. like why not just make the game in the same ratio all the time so new players who want to get into pvp don’t have to change a ratio for it… yes you get more fov which is huge but the game Feels different in that if you play in the normal ratio. Would love to see them just add a fov slider to the game and remove this all together.
If you make the aspect ratio the same for all, then ultrawide monitors get nerfed, so for someone like me that owns an ultrawide for productivity outside gaming would essentially be at a disadvantage unless I play on windowed mode. In order to not nerf ultrawides, they decided to make it so anyone could have access to the FoV that ultrawides would have hence making it so monitors don't matter. It actually executes this much better than a lot of games that actually don't think of letting you have the same FoV with a smaller monitor. Also, you see this statistic that a very low percentage of players use ultrawides so they don't matter, but this isn't on a game by game basis, and it has been said that lost ark has a larger ultrawide community than normal. Having black bars for one game mode so as to not be at a possible disadvantage seems to be a very small compromise, and I know this because despite having an ultrawide I still play at smaller resolutions using the force 21:9 feature because my PC can't handle the higher res.
@@rdom9680 I. Thank you for the video it is really enlightening. Have they given any explanation why they chose to make different camera angle per team? Was it to make position on the terrain more strategical or is it more of a side-effect?
Unsure. It wasn't this way always, but it was still diagonal. It usually meant the team starting at the bottom had the advantage (you can hide the timer but hiding your skill bar is much more damaging). Great video, but oh boy do I hate that this is a thing you need to worry about playing pvp. No one wants to play pixel vision in general, you need to remember to turn it on each time... Gah. Why can't game devs do anything right, it's got the most fun pvp I've played and this is what gives you the edge.
Its beyond that it makes matches so predictable. Everyone goes high side for the view advantage when there shouldn't be an advantage. Why bother to equalize pvp if your going to have such view and monitor advantages.
It used to be the same, but that gave people spawning on the bottom side an advantage (as timer being hidden with Alt-X is better than hiding your skill UI). So they changed it but kept it diagonal for god knows what reason. Its pretty deep into the meta now... maybe they'll change it in the future as I doubt they don't know about it considering how important it is to good performance, but no real word from them regarding it.
Widescreen gives you more FoV and it can be useful in some high end raids (Abrel) but its not really something that feels mandatory like how it is in PvP. You can just play with whatever view you find most comfortable in PvE.

I agree that it's a shame that you can set your fov in the setting, I really feel sorry knowing that most of the peoples are either playing with the 16/9 fov or with the black bars
There is one problem - monitor inches. The more inches, the wider the FOV. The higher the resolution, the higher the FOV. This is how it is in any game. On a 23-24 inch monitor, you have to reduce the game interface to 80%, in the game settings, so that there is maximum vision, but this way it causes discomfort. Conclusion: either buy a 27-inch monitor with a 2K resolution, or delete the game. p.s In Lost Ark, it is enough to do just 1 moment - raise the camera - everyone will be comfortable (both people with 23-24 inches and people with 16: 9 resolution)
No it isn't like that. The aspect ratio is always locked to 21:9 as a maximum, even if you have a 54" monitor, you'd get black bars with that. It can't go beyond it thankfully.
@@LinNull About the frames and said =) Monitor 23-24 inches simply will not allow you to make these frames longer, as a result, you just have a smaller pixel.
There's no point playing this game without a widescreen monitor. And very few people have them compared to the people that don't. The forced 21 : 9 ratio is unplayable. Also the locked camera ensures that as a ranged character you can never attack or approach a player or a boss from the north or south without risking getting punished for it because the camera is so narrow that you won't be able to see casts or tells in time because they'll be offscreen. Both issues would be solved if they simply unlocked the camera and removed widescreen support. Incredibly horrible design for a game like this.
Yeah honestly don't know why they couldn't just keep it flat with the stage... but the meta now is pretty heavily influenced by out of FoV converts and engages.

I just discover it today and the game is so much enjoyable like this, I'm not even talking about having an advantage but as your fov is bigger you have a less zoomed and better vision of the game, it's just way more pleasant to play like this.

I just discover it today and the game is just way more enjoyable like this, i'm not even talking about having an advantage or not but playing with a better pov (less zoom camera) is so much more enjoyable, I will never be able to play without it.
I agree that it's a shame that you can set your fov in the setting, I really feel sorry knowing that most of the peoples are either playing with the 16/9 fov or with the black bars
So play the game like its a 2D arcade game :P
lost ark pvp, make sure to hit it from the sides
I would play this game if it had similar camera view to wow , bdo, etc... Like this it looks very similar to LOL. I hate that camera :v
To be honest its the opposite for me since I grew up with Ragnarok Online. Always loved isometric MMOs.
Just let us zoom out, like the fck
This game is like gauntlet remember when that game came out? Geez camera so lame.
Incredibly horrible design for a game like this.
wrong
Wtf that's such a bad solution. There are no walls anyway, why not make it mirrored like Battlerite, BLC or AoK.
Yeah honestly don't know why they couldn't just keep it flat with the stage... but the meta now is pretty heavily influenced by out of FoV converts and engages.
@@LinNull I bet! I'm just getting into this game and I want to get into PvP.
I assume pressuring opponents into unfavorable/fighting for angle to be quite important.
Lost ark just launched today for na and this is a big downside to the game, I can’t stand the way it looks with the setting turned on my 1920x1080 screen so I’m forced to buy an ultra wide or just not pvp, scared this is going to turn many people away from the game. Ecspecialy if they start making raid content require ultra wide
if you have a nvidia card (it's may be possible with amd but I don't know) you can set your gpu setting to remove the black bars : ruclips.net/video/xwTGdVdZr08/видео.html
You will have the same fov as the 21/9 user and you will not have the black bars. I just discover it today and the game is so much enjoyable like this, I'm not even talking about having an advantage but as your fov is bigger you have a less zoomed and better vision of the game, it's just way more pleasant to play like this.
great guide, but a reminder of how dogshit the camera angle is in this game
Forcing 21:9 looks like absolute dog shit and doesnt help at all.
terrible game design. they should just allow players to zoom out further. this kind of crap is one of the many points on the list that make the game not as good as it could be.
Pretty lame that camera angle and screen ratio are one of the biggest factors in pvp success...has little to do with actual pvp...
pvp is a joke in this game then
Definitely only 21:9 players should play against other 21:9 players. Anything else is just stupid. But what do I expect from a korean game.
It's a bit stupid yeah, though rather than splitting the queue, they could just have made it fixed 16:9 instead.
@@LinNull Agree..... Specially when only 1% of steamsurvey players are using 21:9 resolutions. And even with that, is far better to play 16:9 in a 21:9 screen than 21 in 16.... Hopefully they change this, or allow 16:9 players to zoom out to be able to view up and top margins
do u have an instagram?
I do not, only RUclips, Twitch and a Twitter (I don't use the twitter much other than just flagging new guide videos or highlights though).
@@LinNull i came from sywo live haha you are handsome af make an instagram 😂
