Hmm. Good drummer, but Billy Ficca he is not. These guys have a hard job, because we are used to hearing this music played by virtuosos. Lloyd is still great though.
Who is Billy Ficca? He is no John Bonham, I will tell you that much. Though I tend to ignore almost everything from the days of drugs, the drugs are what makes them sound ok, not their music skill. I know it says Television right here, but who has heard of the band Television or "The Waitress"? Lloyd is still terrible, hes just sobered up which means he don't even have the OG artistic ability he used to, though it still wasn't my cup of tea, hes so much worse now.
television rehearsed a lot , these fellas are cool and so nearly there , little bit more concentration and they would be worthy of the amazing legacy , harness that power fellas , maybe they had a few beers
Richard Lloyd was always a much better singer than Tom Verlaine. Tom sounded like a cross between Patti Smith & a barking seal, straining at notes & constantly going off pitch. This is not an Anti-Tom Verlaine comment, as I remain, as ever, very keen on the first Television album, but I reckon some of the tracks would have enjoyed radio air play if Richard had been singing.
the charm of the record lies in tom not being a good singer, gives it like this nervous and anxious feeling and the iconic energetic and youthful sound, but yeah Richard is indeed the better singer, just not for most television songs
@@departed1232 Televison's charm was a matter of their instrumental interactions. Verlaine's strained yelpings, not so charming. His vocals remind me of Todd Rundgren's line about Lou Reed: "professionally incompetent."
@@departed1232 Well, "better" is rather subjective, & rock & roll casts a pretty wide net for vocals, where the right vocalist is akin to the right actor being cast for a part. E.g., Ringo is the right vocalist for "Yellow Submarine", whereas Steve Marriott would not have been the right vocalist. Or to put it another way, Bon Scott could have sang in Television, but Tom Verlaine would have been a disaster in Ac/Dc, as Iggy Pop would have been a disaster in Pink Floyd! (I could accept Neil Young singing "Heaven" with Talking Heads, but I would pay money not to have to hear David Byrne singing "Cinnamon Girl" with Crazy Horse!).
If more bands sounded like this, I would never listen to music again in my life. Sounds like your dads or science teachers Jam band that should have stayed a jam band...
its fresh music for my ears in 2022 and its this song has 44 years its's wonderful greeting from Mexico
this is not pure. and i can not understand. Mayhem and Buerochracy,
Legend
Just saw them about 6 weeks ago. Blew me away!
so can the wind...so nothing special eh?
Who is the other guitar and bass, drummer?
awesome
Good. version. The band his hot.
hot as in cold and lame right? since cool means its hip and popular, hot has to mean the opposite. And I agree, it is lame and not good at all
Nicely
Missing Verlaine.
its missing more than Verlaine........it looks like only half the band is here, but you only notice one guy? what a true fan you are hahahahahahaha
Somehow the sound balance is not very good.
When it comes to Richard's solo, the sound of the side guitar suddenly sounds noisy.

@@ericmalone3213 i mean obviously the instrumental part is important, bit really I don't see marquee moon being any better with any other singer

Difficult to sing and play. A bit of a mess.

Fair enough. It's the second most acclaimed guitarist from Television with three hired bananas. Try this: ruclips.net/video/6VbT-NyBG7o/видео.html
Spoken like someone who doesn't know jack Shit about who this guy is
