The cat could play any instrument with incredible feel. Never knew he was a member of the Wrecking Crew and played and usually arranged so many hits of the 1960s

These clips of Leon are so spectacular! What a wonderful joyous time! I am afraid I was a bit, let’s say Inebriated, but I loved him every time I saw him. Sad things can be said about the 70s but the music scene was magnificent! Leon - I hope you know how much joy you brought to us.... and still do! RIP.
There's nobody like Leon! His talent his energy his Spirit his Arrangements he was a genius. And nobody rocks the way Leon did. I love seeing all these old videos!!!!
Leon's shows were basically one song that got better as he played, he should have been a pentecostal holiness tent revival preacher. testify Leon testify !!! saw him a an old movie theatre in York SC around 2005, packed with just 250 in the audience, incredible show from a legend. signed my son's hat & Leon Live & a few other lps for me. my son says that Leon's keyboard playing on Gary Lewis & the playboys classic "count me in" is as difficult as anything Mozart or Chopin ever did.btw/ he is a sound engineer for the US ARMY jazz band & started with a Hammond b-3 @ 13 yes old & worked backwards to the piano
I believe this was at the American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte. It was the first concert I had seen with live video of the performance projected onto the screen. This is that footage. What a wonderful accomplishment, to have recovered this forgotten recording and process it to this high quality.
Did Freddie King open for him? I saw him in a football stadium in the early 1970’s in Charlotte. I was in town and luckily caught his concert. What a great showman. I remember he switched from piano to guitar and played some lead guitar while standing on top of the piano. I loved his early music .
To the Contributor who uploaded this, thanks sooo much! Am a lifelong Leon fan who got to meet him (at the NYC premier of the documentary A Poet is a Naked Person). I got to thank him for all his great music through the years & remind him how there's still loads of folks out there who love his music. Just can't get enough & I was lucky enough to have seen him live multiple times through the years. This is an interesting selection of his work. Thanks again.
Karen R. Sternberg this is from a DVD you can order. Check it out at deepfreezevideo.com. I bought it and it is awesome. There is a whole story on how this was made.

@@marybarry2230 No hate now. I saw LEON 70 times, and had ticket #71 ready for Knuckleheads in Kansas City - a show that sadly did not happen. A magical soul.
There was nobody like Leon back in the day. He was one of the best to see live. I saw him several times and he always put on a great show. Such a talent.
An incredible talent that didn’t get his due. It was a dark day when he died. Hope he’s rockin it out in the paradise of his choice. “Some day, I’m gonna rest on the other shore...”
he was a musicians musician not unlike johnny winter as a guitar player if your over 50 and play music you know both Leon could and did play every instrument very well
THANK YOU for posting yet another great video of the MOSAT!! The Tulsans & Okies on board the Leon train made their way across the land & over the waters into Europe to the East & Asia to the right. What a difference Leon made in the music world,k he touched SOOooo many lives!!! Chuck Blackwell & Carl Radle among others in this video are together w/ Leon again in that Heavenly Band. Peace & love. Stranger in a Strange Land, IMHO was the FIRST recorded best/only rap I've ever loved, aside of Blondie's Rapture. I have to wonder what kind of 4 subhumans would click on Dislike for this?!??!?!? WTH!
None of them count! Did you grow up in Tulsa when he lived there? I saw him, first, during the MD&E tour. Went to see Cocker and came out a big fan of Leon's. Such a mega talented musician, that most people aren't aware of half of what he did. He was so entertaining and high energy, not to mention really nice to look at.
Seeing Elton John inducting him into Hall of Fame made me cry. You could tell Elton was really in awe of Leon and thought he was the lucky one being on a Leon album.
I assume this post is simply an advertisement. For those of us who truly loved LEON, I wish you'd let us enjoy these precious bits of video tape without ADS ALL OVER IT!

@@lisafinch2866 One last time: This clip is a demo reel for the videotape restoration services offered. It is not an advertisement for Leon. That is why you see the antique videotape machine at the beginning...it's what this gentleman does for a living.

I wonder why they didn't make this the home video format? LOL just kidding
Love Leon Russell, but couldn't watch even 2 seconds of this - the Deep Freeze Films' watermarks annoyed the hell out of me. Are you really that scared that someone will make millions out of this segment? I have a home theatre and wanted to hook this up, sit back in my easy chair and see Leon and imagine I'm back there - your watermark destroyed everything.
This isn't an advertisement, it's the good people at DC Video showcasing their capabilities in rescuing damaged videotape. In other words, it's aimed at the techie crowd first. The watermarks are there for the benefit of Deep Freeze Films because we sell it online. And no, we don't "make millions", but if you'd like to order the DVD, it's a pretty good bargain.
Keep Leon's Music a LIVE 😎

Craving individual recognition but had terrible stage fright. His friends and colleagues on stage with him soothed him.
