    I just finished up refurbishing my 111B
    It works great.
    It looks great too. I used the Mother’s polish you recommend, it worked great and no odor. Much better the Brasso.
    Thanks for the tips.

    I just picked up an optimus stove that looks like this but it is a two burner. It is pretty dirty and rusted case because a mouse was in the box and made a nest in there. I started cleaning the case up today. Copper anti seize is higher temperature rating than the silver one. Guess I will have to take some time and take apart the valves. The old fuel in there was really nasty smelling - super old ! Thanks for your videos .

      @Larry Kapp Sounds like an Optimus 22 or 22B. You can see a short video of one I did a year or so ago here: ruclips.net/video/rd0gkV1iIjM/видео.html You might get some ideas or find it inspirational. The 22B should run like this one when you have it restored: ruclips.net/video/KsXj8q_yQCg/видео.html You can get the original instructions for the 22 version here: www.berniedawg.com/optimus-22-111-instructions/ Drop me a note if you need the Optimus 22B instructions. I can send 'em to you in email. bd@berniedawg.com Good luck and have fun. Great stoves! BD

    Cracking vlog and thanks you for sharing. Do you have anything on british army no12 stove?

    • @BernieDawgCinema
      @BernieDawgCinema  2 года назад

      @BigArch6564 Thanks. The British Military #12 is awesome. But, it’s pretty much a big Optimus 111 on steroids. Rebuilding and repair on the #12 is fairly straightforward and very similar to the 111. The two stoves even use some of the same parts. I have three videos about fitting the #12 with silent caps. ruclips.net/video/z9z4R6vwQ28/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/9GXU_VQBjDk/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/GXsD9rL3pFo/видео.html . If you need specific #12 questions answered that can't be addressed from the 111 videos, just drop me an email. I’m #12 fluent. bd@berniedawg.com BD

    What is the function of the wire mesh?

    • @BernieDawgCinema
      @BernieDawgCinema  5 лет назад

      Big topic for a comment reply!! But, I''ll try. There are three functions. 1. filters fuel, 2. aids in vaporization, 3. But, MOST important...(and the real reason it's there)... the mesh roll controls/arrests "flash vaporization pulsing". Anticipating the next question... Do you *have* to have a roll of mesh? Yes. Don't leave home without it. 🙂 BD

    Hi Bernie, great video thank you. I have one question - how do you recommend cleaning the inside of the tank ? Im currently refurbing a Primus 22 ( kerosene ). Thanks in advance. Mike

    • @BernieDawgCinema
      @BernieDawgCinema  2 месяца назад

      Hi Mike, and thanks. If you’ve got old dried kero (black or brown deposits) in the tank, remove everything so you just have a bare tank. Put acetone in the tank. Plug openings with tight wads of paper toweling. Shake it around and let sit for a day or two. Shake as you remember to during that time. Acetone is a solvent for kerosene and will melt the old dried kerosene. Some folks like to use BBs or even coarse sand in the tank with the acetone as “scrubbers”, but you may need a magnet tool to get all the BBs out or compressed air to get out the sand. May not need to or be worth the hassle. You’ll likely want one or two rinses with clean acetone once you dump out the nasty stuff. Warm water and a little Dawn dish soap to finish. Dry completely. Bear in mind that acetone is also a solvent for any lacquer that might still be present on the outside of the tank. So, figure you need to be really careful or that you’ll be doing a full polish on the tank (don’t know what yours looks like but most can profit if there is a lot of food corrosion spots). Want more help or info? bd@berniedawg.com

      Thanks Bernie, I've ordered up some acetone and will follow your advice. Just picked the stove up a few days ago, it looks like it's had a fairly easy life and I'm looking forward to using it lots on camping trips next year. All the best.

    • @BernieDawgCinema
      @BernieDawgCinema  2 месяца назад

      If the stove is in good shape and the tank looks clean already, you might consider skipping all this work and just running two tanks of fresh kerosene fuel through it so it can self-clean. Enjoy! BD

      Hi Bernie, First thing I did was emptied the tank into a jar. The Kerosene was old and brown with a fair amount of sediment too. Inside the tank it also looks like it could do with a strong rinse at least so I'll follow your advice with the Acetone. All the best. Mike

    Is this always undwr pressure. Or is it pressure then vacuum?

    • @BernieDawgCinema
      @BernieDawgCinema  3 года назад

      @DarkLinkAD I'm not entirely sure I understand your question. The tank is pressured up using the pump. When done cooking and the flame is extinguished, there will still be pressure in the tank. Tomorrow morning, there will still be pressure in the tank. The way to release the pressure is to open the fuel cap and release the pressure. But, don't do that while there is flame around or BOOM. You should release the pressure before transporting the stove. More questions? Use the email in the description box below the video. 👍 BD

    Gary my 111b won’t burn blue. It pulses between big sooty yellow flames and blue on high only going to all blue at very low simmer position on supply valve. Any ideas?

    • @BernieDawgCinema
      @BernieDawgCinema  4 года назад

      @Donn Sponholz It's tough to diagnose these in RUclips comments, but a few things spring to mind.
      - You are (of course) using Coleman fuel in the stove or other camp stove naphtha fuel. If not, and you're using kerosene, that could be the problem.
      - Have you checked to make sure there is a tightly rolled roll of fine wire mesh in the fuel feed pipe between the tank and the burner? If not, or if there is too little of the mesh, it's badly rolled, or is too big of a mesh weave, that can cause your fuel not to vaporize correctly.
      - Worn out jet.
      That's the best I can do in comments. If I didn't guess the answer, I have a nifty email address where you can send photos and video of your stove misperforming so that I can help you get it up and running correctly. I have a good success rate in email. Plus, if all else fails, I fix stoves for folks for cheap. 👍 bd@berniedawg.com BD

    Thanks :) i just picked a model T one of these today that needs some TLC before i can use it. your vids have given me all the information i need :) seems im missing the supplied tool for removing the jet, but that shouldn't be a problem.

      Thanks! Glad I could help. You can get a repro stove tool from one of the suppliers in Asia on my parts supplier page: www.berniedawg.com/stove-part-supplier-links/ Good luck! BD

    • @thebongmaster
      @thebongmaster 4 года назад

      Thanks :) apparently this T model didn't come with the tool in the 1st place? there's no clip for it, logo is embossed in lower right of lid, burner has the 4 supports instead of 2, and shield appears to be brass. after looking about I found out is is indeed a T but not sure what iteration of the T.Its case is a bit rusty, but looks in working order, tank pressurises too, will be a nice restoration project :)

    • @BernieDawgCinema
      @BernieDawgCinema  4 года назад

      So, yeah. All T's have four "supports", aka burner tubes, on the burner. There is no such thing as a two-tube 111T burner. It's a regulated silent burner. No tool clip means you probably have one of the Optimus Internationals. They came with a multi-tool spindle control that does everything - three tools in one. If you don't know what I'm talking about on this, maybe it's missing (?), then best to contact me at my email so you can share some photos and I can stop guessing what it is you have. :-) And, given it's a new-to-you stove which seems to be throwing you some surprises, might be best to get a little help and info rather than mess things up. But, it's your call. Pretty sure we're over the limit on the RUclips comments. 👍 berniedawgstove@comcast.net BD

    • @thebongmaster
      @thebongmaster 4 года назад

      yea its an Optimus International one, it does have the regulator knob/spanner combo. from what i can tell its all there except for one of the pan support bars, i can probably make one til i find a replacement tho. I think i'll be fine :) i'll contact you if i need any help :)

      Riiight. Okie-doke, then. FWIW, I have a pile of used wire supports for 111 stoves. I wish you luck. "thebongmaster" as a RUclips name? Well, maybe some extra bunches of good luck, then. 🤨 👍 BD
