I Love how Fstoppers have designed the course with deep details about the shoots, the lighting, the error, the fixes, the post production and especially the business. From the trailer, it looks like the tutorial worth every penny. Fingers crossed.
I'd get a Yonguo speed light for events and on camera use and a PC Buff Einstein for studio work. Umbrella for the studio flash (or softlighter like Clay uses) and Fstoppers Flash Disc for your speed light.
Vanessa Cruz Photography LLC no worry. Everybody is always learning. If ppl stop learning, a decreased in growth will happn and that wont be too cute..
Looks like a great product. Wish the price was a bit easier to swallow but I understand you got bills to pay. This might be the first thing I buy from you all.
It's a 3x6 Skylight Rapid from Lastolite. www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/982319-REG/lastolite_ll_lr81243r_medium_skylite_rapid_kit.html/BI/20013/KBID/13396/kw/LALR81243R
also beginner mistakes like 7.10.... "yeah i`ve got no idea about colour contrast, but here we go, nice guitar riffs in background and some blabla will do it." its youtube. its for free. pay peanuts, get monkeys.
NO PUNS TO FSTOPPERS, THIS IS GENERALLY SPEAKING.... Norelle, You can afford it. Don't fall for those stupid gearhead jargon speeches about why you have to spend spend spend(From others, not these people). You don't need $85k to do editorials and fashion. Literally a mere $300-600 can yield fantastic fashion/beauty quality. with literally little to no touch up work. Don't let those one track minded people feed your brain full of one track minded "Standards" and "rules". Grab some speedlights off amazon that comes in 2 pairs for literally $170.00 and they are Yungoho!! Then grab some white sheets and cut a few to wrap around your lights, will soften them dramatically. You have resources around you that can land results without spending especially for soft lighting. Adapt and overcome with the resources you already have. ;-)
There are a lot of free or cheap resources (on YT and elsewhere) that can emulate the parts that make up this one. This is an amazing one-stop resource but for those of us on budget, we just have to spend time (instead of $) hunting down multiple resources as well as reading and practicing. Don't give up because you can't afford a resource! Just keep pushing:)
I want to be a Commercial and advertising photographer. Now,i learnt basic photograph and some knowledges. But,i don't know How? to become photographer in industry and i don't the process. plz give me some advices plz! And should i join foreign university which teach these. USA or Singapore or which university are you recommend?
Great tutorial Clay thank you for the time and effort. Would you be able to do a tut on how one would get involved in the fashion photo business to actually gain clients?
Donate me some money so rest of us amateurs can learn, lol. $900?? Are you kidding me, sir? Are you shitting $$$, sir? Thats like a new lens right there. Damn.
Hey fstoppers, I was really fascinated by ur cityscape tutorials trailer....so will u guyz plz make tutorial on making such attracting trailer or videos
Ha, people ask about our video production all the time. The most important thing is to film interesting people and places. Beyond that, just find some fun music you like and cut the best footage you have into a cohesive story.
The photographer is good but all he does is take the photo with light composition. He literally has a team for everything, I mean EVERYTHING! I understand having a team to assist with production and hair/makeup but he don’t even retouch or actually fix the photos. I wish I had the money to set a team like that where all I do is take the photos of my ideas. This video wasn’t helpful at all to me since most of the photographers starting out don’t have a team. We build our own studio, fix our own photos, and so forth.
Networking is key. Assembling your own team may be easier than you think! There are a lot of hair stylists, make up artists and college photoshop wiz's that would love to add to their portfolio. Try to find creatives on the same level as you and start by doing un-paid shoots to show them that they aren't being taken advantage of for money. The photographer CAN do most everything in this shoot however he is being hired to give an elite product on a short amount of time and thus will need to band together a team to do so. Its actually great that he's brought together all these different professionals that have strong focus in one area. You're really learning from the best!
I love how 75% of all the shoots featured on this video aren't Editorial or Fashion. Creative Portraits is what i would call them. Editorial means it's for an editor of a magazine, legitimately that usually means a fashion mag. Fashion is high fashion which are custom outfits that are not sold in stores. Most of the lighting in these shots is Commercial. These are commercial portrait photographers. Don't listen to any of the tips here. If you want truth go pick up some high fashion mags.
zivtavivphotography I feel its the concept behind it. Sometimes high fashion models seem like pissd off as well. Who knows really. Theres 44 million thounsands concepts about stuff..
4:43 lol @ beauty dish. I can tell that thing has been through hell and back. Mid video while he's introducing the beauty dish he's probably thinking like "shit I forgot to replace this damn thing."
I Love how Fstoppers have designed the course with deep details about the shoots, the lighting, the error, the fixes, the post production and especially the business. From the trailer, it looks like the tutorial worth every penny. Fingers crossed.
The trailer is always better then the tutorial. It has to be in order to fool you into buying.
A great photographer and team. Glad this pop up again. Awesome work!!
I just discovered your work...I'm speechless. Your studio work is like no other.
this is truly inspiring how much you can achieve with the hard work and dedication! His works look very good!
I like that this is a sales pitch but you can learn a lot from it already.
Justin Bayani exactly! Show me why I want to buy your product!
Love seeing people from my city being sucessful... Louisville has some of the best talent in the world... #Homeofthegreats
'Clay Cook - Fashion and Editorial Portrait Photography Tutorial ***PREVIEW***'
Fixed it.
Learned more here than in my photography class lol thanks.
Wow! You showed a lot of my hometown in that video. Good to see a hometown boy make it big.
This is so great I'm always late to the party totally love this.
This dude really knows what he's doing, respect
No, he really doesnt. He cant even edit his own photos and has to hire someone to do it.
I love this, the only video on here that actually gives a lot of information and insight on the jobs, 10 minutes flew by :)
Honestly, this is a perfect example of a photographer that needs 'gear' to succeed. Just keep'in it real!
Exactly. So annoyed by this video. Annie leibovitz uses One flash and is the biggest photohraoher right now
You deserve more subscriber dear.
Lots of love from India
I loved the backgrounds. I want to know that as a beginner which light I should buy, should I buy an umbrella with a normal flash?
I'd get a Yonguo speed light for events and on camera use and a PC Buff Einstein for studio work. Umbrella for the studio flash (or softlighter like Clay uses) and Fstoppers Flash Disc for your speed light.
This video is great! It really inspires young photographers to know where they can go in the future

Amazing job guys! One of the best tutorials out there! Thanks guys! Recommend it, really inspirational and usefull for every one (beginners and pro).
After downloading the tutorial there's really not much in here that you couldn't find on RUclips. Pretty basic stuff
Yeah, it might be basic to you but it's all in one course that's jam packed full of useful stuff, including the business side.
yeah, i figured. most of what was being shown in the preview was pretty basic with high amounts of frequency separation
also beginner mistakes like 7.10.... "yeah i`ve got no idea about colour contrast, but here we go, nice guitar riffs in background and some blabla will do it."
its youtube. its for free. pay peanuts, get monkeys.
Do you still have this course ? I'll pay you to get a copy

hI CLAY.. Seems you using Einstein for your work.. ? they dont ship to UAE.. What is alternate of Einstein u would recommend ?
i like the last part with the business aspect. it is hard to find out what to charge.

05:18 wholy Flaming!
If I download this off of the Pirate Bay, is it going to be a tutorial of lighting portraits in a fast food Italian bistro?
Making a large selection of this BG... (and her knee oups!)
Nice catch. He actually fixes the selection but it was cut out to fit the promo video so it wasn't a 2 min excerpt.
Fstoppers Haha, I know, sorry for being picky! And thanks for a great series yet again!
I need more gear!!!
Thank you!
I call shenanigans on the shadow demonstration @ 3:20
redwinmedia how so? That’s exactly how the positioning changes the shadow. -P
Hey fstoppers,

I love pictures

Yes!!
💕💕💕
Wait, the one I downloaded off Pirate Bay was how to take stunning fashion portraits in the abandoned Wal-Mart parking lot.
I love how 75% of all the shoots featured on this video aren't Editorial or Fashion. Creative Portraits is what i would call them. Damn it, I want to be a good photographer. I just suck though.
MuahMan ah okay
The more you do it the better you get, esp looking at the pics on post. You will get better each time
@Kendall Films it doesn't take expensive gear to be a good photographer, though. Just sayin'.
The Men with Silly Earrings Secret Society strikes again.
The Derby City shows no pity . You just have to get it done .
Awkward moment when Bethany Hood is more masculine than Gunnar Deatherage (awesome name BTW) :D
but she is gorgeous..better than the model lot of times
saya merinding nonton ini sangat menginspirasi sekali
Was he published in Vogue or any major fashion magazines?
excelente
why the first model looked like she was scared to death ?
zivtavivphotography I feel its the concept behind it. Sometimes high fashion models seem like pissd off as well. Who knows really. Theres 44 million thounsands concepts about stuff..
Obrigado pessoal ! e pena que essa ainda não dá pra ser minha realidade ! mas os ensinamentos sempre são valiosos !
I love to see I learning photography bt nt properly plz plz plz teach me plz
4:43 lol @ beauty dish. I can tell that thing has been through hell and back. Mid video while he's introducing the beauty dish he's probably thinking like "shit I forgot to replace this damn thing."
Hahahaaaa!!!
It is funny that Clay Cook is monitoring all the comments.
$300?? Holy shitballs!
His indoor shoots look like a copy of Annie Liebovitz's shots. They're still amazing looking.
his work kind of reminds of Annie leibovitz.
