  • Revisiting a Vacumatic currently with my new-ish set up now. Wanted to get back to some basics and figure out how to streamline the process a bit. But, as always, there seems to be a hiccup with the diaphragm again. But it shows you some of the issues you'll have to work around when restoring vintage pens. Speaking or work arounds...I made myself have another one with a mistake of my own. In this video I messed up the nib by not inserting the nib and feed into the section deep enough. I've warned against this in the past, but still make this stumble from time to time. I chose to salvage the nib by doing my home-made italic grind on the nib. It actually turned out really well, so it might be worth those interested in this process to go back to the Conklin Glider Video and check it out.
