Lol, Galaxy of Terror is on the list. "Crew's greatest fears manifest" It was rated X originally because they had to tone the scene where the blonde crewman is, literally, raped by a giant maggot waaaay back.
The producer was a creep, originally she was just meant to be eating alive by the maggot. But because the producer Roger Corman promised his investors there would a nude scene. The actress only agreed because Coleman said he would try to not reveal too much but obviously filmed her entirety. Honestly, that one scene to me makes me wonder if it was some creepy fetish that was asked to come to fruition.
I remember thinking that Pandorum was an excellent bit of sci-fi, as if a Cinema Student had been given an assignment to create an entirely representative and appropriate homage to 80s alien horror films, and knocked it out of the park.
An excellent list of the sci-fi- horror/ thriller. A few positions I already knew, but there are some hidden gems, which I shall definitely watch. A big thank you for that and keep up the good job.

Solid list here, with Dark Star as one of those charming and strangely crafted film on it's own. A shoutout to Blood Machines (2020) for it's space opera music video approach, light on horror with more sci fi.
This is a great list and I am glad that you acknowledged Lifeforce. I really enjoy this movie. I watched it for the first time on Cinemax when I was a kid back in the 80s. Such an overlooked and underrated movie.
I discovered Attack The Block from watching that year's BAFTA Awards, its director for that film was nominated and it got my attention. It's like, 'what if the Goonies were actual pottymouthed ruffians and we witness them take on an entire alien invasion.' It's so fun and scary all blender mixed. Plenty of death and gore but still maintain the flow of dark and witty humor. Love it.
Leviathan is the only movie to ever give me nightmares. I saw it in the theater when I was pregnant, and for a week I had dreams of creatures bursting out of me!
From your description of the movie Mimic, I don't think this channel has ever seen the movies they mention. Dr. Tyler is essentially final girl of Mimic. Maybe watch the films before you make a list or at least read the Wikipedia articles first.
Either they aren't paying attention or aren't taking notes and forgot things with some of the movies. For example, Pandorum does reveal the secret of the 'aliens' even though this video says otherwise.
I think they purposely leave things out, that could be aha moments or major spoilers. thus sometimes having their short explanations come off very vague or any of the such. But its to help build interest in getting you want to watch the film. Instead of having a yojtube video break it down completly
I don't know anything about Mimic, except what was mentioned in the vid, and comments, however, I do agree that they are not watching the films, or at least they didn't watch Underwater; if they did, then they don't understand that looking cool, does NOT make a good movie. According to multiple critics that I watch, the monsters were scary... until Kristen Stewart's character one shot one of them. Also, Kristen Stewart's performance was more lack luster than her role in Snow White and the Huntsman, though still better than her role in Twilight. There were large plot holes, some nonsensical decisions made (ESPECIALLY if you are trying to compare it to something as great as Alien), and no character development, which made it nigh impossible to relate to the characters, or feel anything for them when they died, or went through struggles.
Lifeforce still is in my top favourite movies, story is solid (the book by Colin Wilson is excellent) and acting quality is so intense the movie is good from start to finish
Though many hard-core sci-fi buffs consider the original from 1951 to be the superior version. IMHO John Carpenter's version is more fun, but in the 1951 version the creature reveals some interesting details arguably making it more villainous.
Relic from the 90s with Tom Sizemore is a classic. Museum , monsters , cheesy and lots of killings. Obviously no way near as good but it’s still a great film.

@Marvelous Videos There is a MAJOR correction about Dan O'Bannon in 18:31 and that is that he not only "wrote" the screenplay for ALIEN, he CREATED and titled ALIEN. He is the creator, and Ronald Shusett was given Co-Creator credit due to him giving O'Bannon the idea of the Impregnation and Chestburster. Many people credit Ridley Scott only because of ALIEN but the fact is that without O'Bannon there would never had been ALIEN to begin with. He deserves as much credit for ALIEN as Scott, and in that turn so do Ron Cobb and the also late H.R. Giger whom designs were what inspired the late O'Bannon to create and write ALIEN and then look up a movie company to buy his movie to then write the Screenplay.
I don't think you understand what makes Alien stand out. It's a mix of fear of the unknown and isolation, not to mention the performance of the crew. I am not saying the movies you listed are bad, but most of them are not similar to Alien at all.
The only epic-capture of the idea-of-aliens outside the Original-concePt-artist and his internal-conception, is the Tyranids of Warhammer 40K: sweeping the entirety of OP-artists' notebooks into a tumbler and extruded lore of impeccable narrative.
A good list - Underwater was a creepy, intense and mysterious Lovecraftian Cthulhu themed film that really excels - alien??? not sure - but this is a vastly underrated film and worth the watch... 8.5/10

It is. Hate to nitpick you guys but I recently watched one and Mira Sorvino plays Dr Susan Tyler who in your synopsis you say is dead and can't stop the bugs.......did y'all watch this movie? She is the main character Josh Brolin has a pretty small role.
Event Horizon and Pandorum are made by same director Paul WS Anderson if i remember correct. Good movies. EDIT: Pandorum is directed by another, but i think Paul WS Anderson was an associate in making of the movie. Damn, i remember Galaxy of Terror, was awesome, but mostly scary and disburting. Didnt know the name in the long time so, i remembered that movie with no name until like 10 years ago i found the name by chance lol. That giant maggot scene is one of the burnt imagery into my brain since i was a kid.
Sorry but Galaxy of terror wasn't them being stranded; though they ended up that way they were supposed to be a rescue mission; the bodies they started finding were the crew of a previous mission they were supposed to rescue.

That's one special effect that they can't do a remake of, its not gonna have the magic of the 1st film. And that soundtrack!
Also the fact that it was based on a Colin Wilson book helps
Great vid!!! Except! Josh.Brolin has been a bad ass actor since the 80s!!! (Goonies anyone!?!)...
Thanks guys for the amazing recommendations!!! You've renewed my hope for continued gory entertainment!🤘☢🤘
Just watched life force this weekend. Loved it
Voice makes me feel like someone's about to win a prize!
I don't think you understand what makes Alien stand out. It's a mix of fear of the unknown and isolation, not to mention the performance of the crew.
I am not saying the movies you listed are bad, but most of them are not similar to Alien at all.
It's nice to see these videos with some love for movies instead of the new habit of just talking bad about every detail.
Event Horizon and Andromeda Strain should NOT be on this list. And you have the plots wrong for several movies on this list.
Why not? And what plots did he get wrong? Can't say this stuff and not say exactly what's wrong with the stuff they said. . 😂 😂
@@Johnnybgood24 Have you watched the movies on this list?
@@alphawlffI just wanna knoe why you can't answer at least the 2nd question. 😂
@@Johnnybgood24 It should be obvious if you have seen these movies.
@@alphawlff okay don't answer the question. Bye
Pandorum is one of my favs saw it in middle school and loved it so much
This is a good list. I've seen most of them but the ones I haven't sound interesting. I'll have to check them out.
Great list... gave a little to much praise to Kristen Stewart though
Actually Kristen Stewart did a terrific job in this movie. The only better actor was Cthulhu
So let's say...most of the best sci-fi and horror films were made in the 80s and 90s. Some of the most beautiful fever dreams.
Perfect work on this list, well done folks. I suggest a moment to pat yourselves on the back...
Is it just me, or do those freaks from "Pandorum" remind anybody else of the Morlocks from "The Time Machine?"
GALAXY OF TERROR what an excellent Gem Kudos for this videos producers finding that one!
I saw XTRO when it came out and it was absolutely Scarry and horrific, and bizarre!!
Thanks for this, I've been looking for the name for "Xtro" I saw this years ago and it totally freaked me out, Awesome 🤪
I clicked on the video because of the discrepancy of the thumbnail stating "13" movies, but the title saying "12". Lol
Also, I love the titles listed. I would hate to be in any of those universes. Although, would still travel to the outter regions of space to explore it.
I see mimic on many yours video i thuink that some movie repeating
Mimic is a brilliant and well made Sci fi Horror Thriller from Guillermo Del Toro.
It is. Hate to nitpick you guys but I recently watched one and Mira Sorvino plays Dr Susan Tyler who in your synopsis you say is dead and can't stop the bugs.......did y'all watch this movie? She is the main character Josh Brolin has a pretty small role.
List of movies I rented on friday night from Blockbuster. 😊✌
I miss blockbuster, hollywood video & family video. 😢
Actually the real original alien movie was the 1950's classic "It! The Terror From Beyond Space".
(Just giving credit where credit is due.)
Sorry but Galaxy of terror wasn't them being stranded; though they ended up that way they were supposed to be a rescue mission; the bodies they started finding were the crew of a previous mission they were supposed to rescue.
Life is TERRIFYING!
Great vid
Antje Traue is the true reason you need to watch Pandorum
She's gorgeous. Good intense character in that.
No space monster movie will top the ORIGINAL ALIEN MOVIE. It was just one of those things that hit on ALL cylinders and took off with a life of its own.
Aliens would be close, but Alien set the bar so high, nothing has come remotely close.
the movies have little in common with the alien xenomorph movies
16:10 the hell you talking about she didn't die!
UnderWater was amazing and it was also confirmed by the director that it is a Cthulu film and he lived up to it for the ending scene :D
Some were great & shouldn’t be missed
Lifeforce. Mathilda May. Yoh!
The Corman creature feature, Forbidden World, should have been on this list. It was better than Galaxy of Terror.
Great list love it
This is a great list, but the upbeat voiceover doesn't really suit the tone of the subject.
Event Horizo is such a great Movie. Really liked it
2:00, saw this film 10 years ago, and it's amazing. Don't know why it got negative Reviews.
4:17, a guilty pleasure, and one of my favorite Sci-fi Horror films.
6:48, The Andromeda Strain, the film version is superior, while the miniseries... Not so much.
8:50, like I said, best claustrophobic thriller on the ISS.
10:35, Galaxy Of Terror? Of course!
12:33, LEVIATHAN. Alien underwater.
14:50, forget the bugspray, get a shotgun!
17:15, Dark Star, a fun Sci Fi Comedy.
19:26, John Boyega's first film.
21:18, LIFEFORCE! One hell of a guilty pleasure! The Director's Cut is superior.
23:48, Underwater! HP Lovecraft for a new generation.
26:00, critics were not kind to this movie at all, but it has become a cult classic.
Thanks for the video!! See you later!! Stay safe.😉
1:49 Pandorum
4:15 Event Horizon
6:45 The Andromeda Strain
8:48 Life (2017)

14:46 Mimic
17:14 Dark Star

Galaxy of Terror will worth your time
Thanks for this list :-) fun stuff!! 🤘🤣🖤
How could you for get "the blob"? The black/white (before Alien) & the color (not sure when that came out)....
The Andromeda Strain (1971) Absoluter Kultfilm.
