We just bought a caterpillar D6 with a six way blade and winch on the back it’s great for working highline and building Roads to Highline structures we use the winch a lot to pull in bucket trucks and digger trucks Plus, we had a forestry package put on it Carl is top-notch. He’s doing a great job. You have a good day, my friend.
Now your talking Chris a machine you can get something done with. D6 was one of Cat's best dozers. I've ran a 6N and 6T, the T is an absolute beast. Too much power for me. The N is real nice for finish work. Karl has pulled a ton of big trucks up hills with a 6 and winch for gas well pads. Thank you so much for taking the time to check out the video my friend.
Nice video of the job site, Karl is doing good on the dozer, hard packed clay he is grubbing out for the pad, sounds like he is keeping you busy running around. Cheers and stay safe
Appreciate the nice comment Pete and yep it's been a busy summer dong excavating jobs. Haven't shown near a third yet of all the excavating videos from this summer. Thank you so much for watching the show my friend and may you have a really good day.
Appreciate the nice comment William. Father and son, and it's really nice to be able to work with him and even nicer when Corrie comes out and works with us. Thank you so much for watching the show my friend and may you have a really good day.
He definitely worked some magic with that little thing.. definitely a light weight machine.. I ran a D7 in my military days, so it was very impressive to see him work.. end result looked great.. good stuff Dave..
That 7 would push rings around that little 450. That's what we needed there was a bigger machine. Next dozing job your hired, come show us how it's supposed to be done! Thank you so much for watching the show my friend and may you have a really good day.
Thank you for this video! Lots of dozer action alright! What is more impressive to me that the dozer operator could accurately estimate how much dirt to move from where to where. There was a time when I could remember perhaps a dozen telephone numbers in my head. Today I have a whole lot more … on the iPhone.
I couldn't even remember a dozen, more like one or two back then Robin.... :-) Karl is a very good operator and he does a great job at estimating how much dirt to move. Thank you so much for watching the show my friend and may you have a really good day.
Never ran a dozer but sure would have jumped at the chance. Sounds like you have enough work to keep you out of trouble - well - almost! LOL! Stay safe and may God continue to bless you!
Your right about that Teddy. Our original ponds here at home were dug out with a horse and scoop bucket pulled behind it. Thank you so much for watching the show my friend and may you have a really good day.
Enjoyed watching this. You can see that dozer is a bit light for the job but it made a good job in the end. When I got my VHS Camcorder I soon began using high grade tapes and although good not a patch on the definition of my digital camera, amazing how good and cheap compared to what I paid back then. I am real poor at maths and my new calculator was a blessing in collage with all the calculations we had to do. It is true the phones with all their functions can make your brain lazy, if in collage now I would not even need to know how to work out many of the problems, just ask the phone for the answer.
Your right and that's the problem, just ask your phone for everything. Mr. Google knows it all. So people no longer have to think but are becoming slaves of AI. Not only slaves but becoming totally dependent on their phones and computers. The new tampers are set up so AI does it all, track geometry then tells the tamper what to do to correct the sways and dips in the track. Operator can get out and just walk along side the tamper while the computer controls all functions. Thank you so much for watching the show my friend and may you have a really good day.
@@ThatsDavesOtherDoings Those tampers sound great for making the job easy for the operators but I agree there is getting too much AI and people are becoming so dumb from not having to think about things anymore. I watch videos on here of people doing dumb things and it really makes me wonder how some get through the day example today a guy driving past a depth mark on a road that floods with the water 3 feet deep When the car begins to float then sinks he is like what happened.
I'd rather change a rail than run a small dozer, it's less stress on your body. The bigger dozers ride pretty decent tho unless your on rocks. Thank you so much for watching the show my friend and may you have a really good day.
I have PTSD from running one of those little John Deere dozers! When I was in my late teen and earlier 20's I ran one for a buddy of mine. He sent me to push brick from a demolition job off a slab but we didn't know until it was too late that it had a full basement under it! I didn't know it was possible to dislocated your butt till I dropped 10 foot on that dozer!
Oh wow that had to be a scary thing to have the bottom drop out from under you Jughead. Karl has rolled a dozer over before from sliding down an icy hill and he dropped into a gas well pit, thank goodness he had his seat belt on! Thank you so much for watching the show my friend and may you have a really good day.
Nice job. Ever wonder what some people would do if a cash register didn`t tell the cashier what change to give? Back in the eighties I drove a delivery truck and collected money for the products I delivered but only worked out of my pocket using my "noodle" to make change, lol.
Your right Wilbur, if the machine didn't tell them how much to give back, most would have a real difficult time figuring it out. Thank you so much for watching the show my friend and may you have a really good day.
Your right about that JZ, but none are available around here on small dozers. We do use a laser transit which is nice and also accurate. Thank you so much for watching the show my friend and may you have a really good day.
That owner's daughter lives there and the owner of the land came from Svenska Stefan. I was talking to him in the video, but didn't show him. He's an amateur airplane pilot and has a run way for small plans on the farm next to this one. Thank you so much for watching the show my friend and may you have a really good day.
Your right wolfpacva. When I was young if I wanted to know something, had to walk a mile up town to the library and look it up in the encyclopedia. Now Mr. Google knows everything, just ask him.... :-) Thank you so much for watching the show my friend and may you have a really good day.
Looks good. Are they going to let that pad settle for a year or 2 before they build on it? My parents had a house built on a hill. The whole housing tract was sliding on the fill side and the houses built into the hill were stable. Houses on the fill side eventually get past the point of no return and they have to be torn down so this tract now has a lot of empty lots on the fill side that no one can do anything with.
The week after they brought in an already put together building and it's on there David. We've built big pads before where they actually built a building on it, but always rolled it with a vibrator roller. But your right, if it's not vibrated, 2 years before building is the right amount of time to let it settle on it's own. Thank you so much for watching the show my friend and may you have a really good day.

LOL I guess your right about that Alan! It's been dry all summer,
maybe we need to do more digging.... :-) Thank you for
