    I’ve always loved traveling merchants and such. Makes me feel curious to when I find someone walking with a caravan. Cricket I love especially with our mutual love for explosions
    However, these out of sight ones I never knew about. Exactly why I like this game. Even when I feel I’ve seen it all, there’s something I clearly missed. Always something new to find. Just gotta look hard enough

      I love traveling merchants too! I've been thinking it would be fun to be a traveling merchant myself in Fallout 76, depending on how that would work in a world with no NPCs and so many other players to deal with. But I love the concept. I'm part Roma (Gypsy) so maybe that's another reason why it appeals to me so much.

      Fertilizer, very smart thing to pick up if you have the charisma to keep the cost down. I tend to have high charisma which helps me BIG-TIME with trading. I can buy a bag of fertilizer for 30 caps if memory serves, which breaks into 4 fertilizer and 1 acid. I can then use those 4 fertilizer and 2 plastic to make 2 Jet, which I can then sell for more than 30 caps each. I buy fertilizer whenever I find it since I often either have use for jet or can sell it for some extra caps.
      I've also found that, especially if you don't use laser weapons much, you can wait until you've amassed a lot of that ammo plus steel (common/cheap), spring (I also find this extremely common and cheap since I scrap weapons all the time and also get the scrapper perk ASAP), and circuitry then you can make a bunch of robot repair kits. Gives you XP and you can sell them for caps or to trade with. Another good one is in the syringer ammo portion of the chem work station, the... mind fog I think it was? Its worth is 70+ caps each, so selling it at the typical 80% value that is the most you can get when selling things is over 60 caps each. Now, what did it need... every time you make it it gives you three syringes... nope, don't remember, I'll look it up.
      Mind Cloud Syringe, it uses an Abraxo cleaner, some asbestos, a purified water, and glass. I scarcely EVER find use for asbestos, nothing comes to mind, so it's basically completely useless except for this syringe. I typically keep Abraxo anyhow because you can make some chems with it, but this ammo is a stellar way to turn your Abraxo into cold hard caps. For one Abraxo, you get three of those Mind Cloud syringes, which can be sold for over 180 caps in total. Glass isn't particularly junk to me though, since I do enjoy creating settlement buildings that are elevated off the ground (I keep my workshops and most stores under the building) with either steel posts from the warehouse section or wooden posts from the barn section of the settler workshop, then the first floor is steel, second floor is wood, and the top floor is a lovely glass-walled and glass-roofed lounge area... though sadly thus far I've not witnessed settlers going up there yet even though the bar/restaurant is up there. Sad... there's tables and chairs and everything.
      Still, the Mind Cloud Syringe only uses 1 glass to make 3 syringes worth a total of... sorry, my math was wrong, looks like they might be worth 58 caps each which means a total of perhaps 174-175 caps to sell all three. Still, quite the deal for 1 Abraxo, 2 asbestos, 1 glass, and 1 purified water. For many players, the water is the only truly valuable item there, but just go to a brewing plant or something and load up a companion with as many empty bottles as you can. Go back to the settlement, get your character filling the bottles, and go take a piss or something while they crank that handle over and over. Craft or purchase a grape mentats if you need it to lower prices as well as get a charisma boost of FIVE, and then you'll get some killer prices. You know you've reached the best prices when you can sell fusion cores (including ones almost completely used-up) for 160 caps (80% of their base value of 200 which is the highest value you can get when selling things) or can buy them for 240 caps (120% of their base value of 200, the lowest value you can possibly pay when buying things).
      I used to NEVER, EVER, EVER spend caps on... well, basically anything. I'd pretty much horde it, it's what I've always done. I'm very much a 'saving money' and 'living frugally' kinda guy, even been homeless before IRL. Now though, I allow myself to buy shipments of supplies instead of ONLY ever spending money on the cheapest/best junk possible and scrapping it all, which is cheaper than buying shipments... but really, not by a whole lot, and it takes a lot longer to gather material to build with and I do enjoy building up settlements. Also, and this is something that remains with me to this day, I virtually never actually SPEND caps when I trade. Only on rare occasions will I trade and end up having to spend caps, but usually I have enough to trade to where it either breaks even, or they end up giving me caps at the end of the trade. I don't like walking away with less caps than I had at the start of a trade, but given I've learned how to make money so efficiently, I do sometimes allow myself to splurge. 250 steel costs 900 caps at the lowest which is just under 4 caps per steel, and 250 wood costs 600 caps which is just over 2 caps per wood. Yes, you can save money by only buying junk and scrapping the junk... but it'll take A LOT longer to collect enough steel or wood to do anything major with in one building-session. 3.6 caps per steel and 2.2 caps per wood, that still ain't bad. Over 170 caps for the 3 Mind Cloud Syringers, that means you can buy a shipment of steel for 5 Abraxo, 10 asbestos, 5 glass and 5 purified water, plus less than 50 caps. Or, a shipment of steel for 4 Abraxo, 8 asbestos, 4 glass and 4 purified water plus you'll receive over 80 caps on the side.
      I know that there's people who regard charisma as being useless, fair enough, but not to me. I also get peeved whenever I fail a speech check, many a time I'll pop out of my power armour and slip into a 2-charisma suit, dawn a 1 charisma hat (often times Skinny Malone's formal hat is the one I stick to for the rest of the game once I obtain it), and a pair of black-rimmed glasses (or if I haven't gotten that yet, the goofy fashionable glasses) to give myself the best possible chances at passing a speech check.
      I may be a fucking autist.

    * Trudy and Wolfgang at the Drumlin Diner

    • @normanmccollum6082
      @normanmccollum6082 2 года назад +1

      ... you think that Trudy is easy to miss? She's extremely close to Starlight Drive-in and is along a main road south to Diamond City, plus the diner is on a bit of a hill so is easy to spot. The farmer/trader, that's fine, I likely never found that one either since there's basically zero reason to go in whatever direction that farmer/trader is, but I feel as though a gamer would have to make a conscious effort to avoid the Drumlin Diner. Many gamers hit the VATS button every now and then to check for mines or for possible enemies, which is another great way to spot Wolfgang/Simone/Trudy.
      Trudy also doesn't wander around or require a random encounter, she is 100% ALWAYS at the Drumlin Diner, no matter what level you are or what you've done in the game... I think your suggestion of including Trudy is silly. Hard to say whether it's as silly or more or less silly than including Trashcan Carla, but seems silly regardless. The only way Trudy could be more difficult to miss is if she was involved in a quest or if some NPCs mention her business.

      Dang, good point... now I'm curious. It'd be pretty neat if Railroad-affiliated people was instantly-hostile or tended to flee from the Sole Survivor in a playthrough where they destroyed the Railroad. A lot of people rag on Bethesda's writing, but frankly I think that in many ways they did a really good job. Like if you go straight to the church where the Railroad is, and you complete the puzzle without walking the freedom trail, they're just like "What the fuck? Who are you? How did you find this place? How did you solve the puzzle?" Then you're just like "I dunno, just wandering around and found this place and managed to luck-out on the puzzle." lol They really did go to some lengths to think of different ways how players can mess with the game and do things strangely. I also like the event just north of Diamond City where the guards are fighting Super Mutants.
      If you jump in and help, they'll comment on how you're not scared of fighting Super Mutants. Or, if you don't participate and leave them to deal with the muties, they'll be like "Don't like to fight Super Mutants, huh? Well... guess I can't say that I blame ya..." pretty neat! I have a mod where Nora survives being shot in Vault 111, becomes a fully-voiced companion, and I also made her look just like my IRL wife. When I help 'em kill Super Mutants, she 'likes that.' She also likes it when I drink liquor, can't say my IRL wife thinks the same but it makes sense given the couple had some bottles of liquor pre-war. Guess that likely got drank by either survivors who managed to last a little while in the late 2070s who were from Sanctuary, or survivors who came to Sanctuary later on. I'm sure A LOT of pre-war booze got drank up in those early years... or carried around to use as disinfectant for wounds. Reminds me of something that happens in the Sharpe series of novels, also the TV movies with Sean Bean possibly. After being lashed, the person who was lashed was given a bit of 'half and half.' Half the bottle of liquor to drink, and the other half down the back (where they were lashed and bloody). Must have been excruciating... but better than a potentially life-threatening infection I suppose.

I also downloaded a mod that makes Tina in Vault 81 actually become a settler, and also she's fully voiced apparently. The modders apparently managed to get in contact with the voice actress and got her to speak some lines for them I suppose? I dunno, I haven't actually done vault 81 yet in my current play-through which is my first play-through with this mod (and many others). It would be super cool of her if she voluntarily did some lines for some modders without payment, I like to think that I'd do that too if I became a successful voice actor, not that it's something I actively desire or work towards. If I did though, Fiverr would be the place where I'd try it out.
      I'm an entrepreneur and I have been complimented on my voice before, but to really take it seriously I'd have to set up a small studio or setup with soft walls to eliminate any possible echo, ideally also thick walls to guarantee that any sound from outside is not also recorded with my voice, plus ideally in a situation where I can yell or scream without scaring neighbours. Hah, if I had a setup like that, I'd probably even make a video of it to post on Fiverr to show the lengths I've gone to, the equipment I use, to provide as high-quality content as possible. Hmm... maybe someday. I already have some decent audio recording equipment, and I'm already a fairly established writer on Fiverr where I make hundreds of dollars per month... fuck me, I might just try becoming a voice actor sometime. Neat!

    Stockton frees synths and works with the Caravans..
    The Caravans are Institute informants..
    How is Stockton still alive?
    And why doesn't the Institute place GPS trackers in their synths, after 10 years of runaway synths.
    _So many questions!_

    • @Tolwrath
      @Tolwrath 6 лет назад +22

      Gref Steel GPS works via satellite, of which I doubt many survived the war. A better tracking method would be via signal strength from a transponder, or wifi triangulation, as wifi would be easier for the institute to set up than a satellite. Also: what about those bird watcher synths?

    The dog in the cage is a reference to a similar encounter in Skyrim: When making your way through the Rift, you can happen across a wolf in a cage. Same, I actually skipped her part of this video since I'm curious as to what she might say and what her story might be. Hopefully I'll stumble upon her sometime. I also haven't yet checked out this D B High School place, so I'm a bit annoyed to have had it spoiled that apparently the leader has rabies, but I look forward to checking that place out! I also have a mod that adds more children to the wasteland, also makes them killable, which is important because now the raiders sometimes recruit children into their ranks. "Orphans of the Commonwealth" adds child settlers to the game and optionally a couple orphans here and there at different locations (like Bunker Hill and Goodneighbour), then I got a mod that allows children to be killed (meaning not immortal like they are in the vanilla game apparently), and finally 'Raider Children and other Horrors.' Not for the feint of heart... there's Big Al whom can be found in Backstreet Apparel. He makes videos of kids getting killed. It is not mentioned that anything sexual occurs, but well... c'mon.
      Also, you know Red Tourette's little sister Lily who goes by 'Lil?' Her body doesn't appear in the game, she's described as having been dumped into a vat of beer post-mortem. Well with this 'and other Horrors' mod, her body does show up, stashed away in that locked room where the radroaches are. On a terminal, the boss raider of the brewing plant (Tower Tom?) mentions that he stashed her up there while the others were away, and 'had some fun' with her corpse since 'it's not like it matters anymore.' She is found with a Chinese sword impaled into her chest, probably would be better if it was just a machete (those swords are rare!) but anyhow, again, doesn't mention that anything sexual happened, but it's the post-apocalypse. A raider having his way with a child's corpse isn't exactly an unrealistic thing that could happen.
      I also have a mod that allows me to have multiple companions, to be able to make anyone a companion, and to also adjust character's height. With this, I can go a step further and adjust the height of children so that they're a bit more teen-aged, or make them even smaller like they're not even 10. Did that to a cute blonde girl with pigtails who showed up in a nice (albeit dirty and/or bloody) dress. I have the kids tend to crops to free adults up to be guards, shop owners, or scavengers. Children could probably be scavvers too, though I haven't given it a try yet. Might turn out that they hover next to the scavenging station when they use the welder on it. They also clip into shops when they 'lean' on them, and sink into beds when they sleep, so they're best assigned to sleeping bags or mattresses on the floor. Being a farmer at a settlement is a better fate than ending up killed/enslaved/enlisted by raiders, and I like to think that the adult farmers they work alongside take them under their wing and teach them the ropes. End up being like a big sister or like a mother, since my farmers tend to be women while men tend to more often be guards and scavengers. As for shopkeeps, doctors and clothing traders tend to be women, weapon traders are pretty much exclusively male while armour traders have a tendency to be male though it's not a hard-and-fast rule, meanwhile junk traders and restaurant/bar traders are a toss-up between men and women. Though usually I'll track down a clean-faced woman and put her in a stunning dress and replace whoever is working the restaurant/bar. As for clothing, a clean suit or a dress will do for a man or a woman, sometimes I suit-up women. Weapon traders should have a seriously high-quality weapon equipped, and armour traders should have seriously high-quality armour. Ideally, the doc will eventually get a lab coat.

    It's so weird to me in-game when strangers tell me their life story right away. This is New England, we prefer to pretend to ignore people and then gossip about them disparagingly with our cousins later. Then I remember it's an alternate timeline and post-apocalyptic. But I still don't think 210 years and massive radiation would breed friendliness into us!

      West side of the map, halfway down. You must have the DLC to find the station that takes you there.

      Mongoose and you have to be level 30

    • @Veroxzes
      @Veroxzes 6 лет назад +9

      You don't have to be level 30, that's just the recommended mininum level. You can go straight from Vault 111 to Nuka World if you so desire.

    thank you Ox, you are always the best F4 guy, I especially appreciate that you don't waste time babling about subsribing and liking or have a 2 min intro. It says a lot about why your channel is worth subscribing to and liking. And your narraration is spot on and fully informative. You have made my F4 experience deeply enjoyable. Also, you are family friendly for my kids, it's nice not have to listen to a hack curse like crazy to get attention, your intelligent and quality work speaks volumes. A thousand thanks.

    I found Cricket by accident. If you go into the workshop menu at any settlement there a one-piece structure you can build that caters to caravan people. I built one at Nordhagen Beach and she showed up the next day.

    You missed 2 at least. West North West of Sanctuary is a small pond with a shack with a trader usually by the small garden. And near the location you have to bring the Synth from the church near Bunker Hill (Can't remember the name right now) is a Mr Handy vendor in a building across the bridge nearby.

    That girl Carla has got boots made for walking, I was swinging by the Dalton farm in Far Harbor and to my surprise I recognised someone "Is that? No, it can't be" I thought to myself but upon comin closer surely it was Carla.
    Girl you be treading all over the map and beyond! Daumn, you must have calves of steel and diamond plated shoes darlin'.
    Her lovin days may be far gone but she holds a dear place in my heart, the traders that connects, supplies and unites this god forgotten land.
    I respect and admire the courage and bravery it takes for them to dare these monster infested, meat grinder wastelands to supply settlements.

    I found a trader that looked pretty basic and it turned out they had, good armour, overpowered weapons like a Assault rifle that’s automatic (i think it was automatic) a scope, and a flame effect, I’m not sure if this came from them but boy do I wanna find that merchant again.

    Bethany and Leonard are the biggest .44 magum and 5.56 ammo vendors in the game. If you have a .44 revolver, or a fully automatic assault rifle, you're gonna want to be living at these two merchant's houses.
