    With the ammo mod, it’s a 35 round mag with 210 reserve. With the magsize mod, it’s a 70 round mag with a 140 round reserve. So a difference of 35 rounds.

    The slow rpm drastically lowers the fear chance so mole cc on demand is huge.
    I'd say it's still not as powerful as the Poison Thunderhead which can just aoe poison and reliably fear with insane ammo (ammo holds double/ tripple as long as any other class)
    With low base dmg and poison not applying to alies (unlike fire etc), there is basically no friendly fire to get things off a teammate from the other side of a cave and you can pump it point blanc just for the fear.
    And esp the terrible accuracy makes the mortar demand much more care in your positioning than poison.
    BUT. It's totally the most fun of all the new Oc. Just the right mix of changing the base gun in a meaningful way, introducing new challenges to play around and rewarding the efforts apropriately.

    Swarmers suck 100%
    On mortar sustain, tap firing helps keep it up as you're only shooting when you're sure you'll be hitting bugs. Alternatively, I've found triple tech with stun helpful to wait out born ready and deal with some of the swarm. That stun also pairs well with AC fear.

      I used to swear by TTC stun too, but I've found Ultra-Magnetic Coils with fear and partial charges to be a lot more effective - to the point of feeling broken

    The friendly fire isnt that bad if youre experienced. Its usually better to take some splash damage than to get swarmed anyway

    The mortar oc has given me some of the highest kill counts ive ever had as gunner in recent missions :)
    Only problem is that i had to trade my thorns perk for friendly fire reduction after one too many engis waltzed right into my line of fire
    (Tho id say its even funnier to just spray mortars on my teammates without serious repercussion now)

    Also, why are you using damage for the last perk? Damage only effects direct hits, but you have zero damage to begin with so it does literally nothing...

      if it's only 35 rounds it does come down to personal preference like base AC, but I did complain about it so I'll try it out and see.

    not taking fear on the autocannon is a weird choice

      It's an aoe weapon why would you want fear? It would only spread the horde making it harder to kill them. Fear is good in builds like toxin where you want bugs to run away and die of dot

      IMO even if fear pairs less well with Mortar Rounds, it's still the best T5 choice. Tap firing mortars won't get the damage or defense buff; meanwhile fear lets you turn Praetorians and generally end up safer. When your AOE is so huge, spreading out the crowd isn't a big deal.

      @@sardobi You're wrong regarding that, the AOE isn't huge on Mortar rounds, it's actually less than CB. Fear also has no value on Mortar rounds when he's using Coil Gun, a weapon that has a 250% fear chance, meaning every shot is guaranteed to fear any and all enemies near the shot. Having fear on both weapons is just pointless, and on top of that, spreading them out makes this OC even worse, due to its mediocre AOE and limited ammo pool as is.

      Fear is actually pretty good on mortar rounds because you can keep hammering into large groups to slow their progress. On haz5+ you'll notice you want to do a lot of damage quickly and you don't wanna swap weapons to spread fear with coil.

    Its unplayable w 4 players.. its range is just to big to not hit your mates. And if you’re really trying not to than you’re basically useless 😂

      honestly, it's just too bad for the other players. im gonna use mortar rounds and they can't do anything about it. besides, the friendly fire damage isn't that bad, especially compared to something like fatboy which is also a notorious friendly fire OC
