Well worked out it looks a good fix. Hope the road test proves it 👍

Raining hard here so a plank under the centre stand to give rear wheel clearance, started up the bike and went through the gears on the stand, spot on.

Hope it's working well. When you're having a problem like that you're hoping to see something that's not right when you take that outer gear box cover off. That's best case scenario, you see something that's fixable and won't cost a fortune. It's annoying when everything looks fine and you can't figure out why it's not working right.

Would like to see how you get along with that kickstart return spring. It gives me nothing but grief 😂

Fortunately l only had to remove the outer case to work on the gear selector return springs mechanism, thankfully the kickstart shaft and spring didn’t need to be disturbed, looks like a very hefty spring. I have only had one ride out since doing the repair and all now seems ok, so hopefully l won’t need to go inside the gearbox. Regards Brian

Hi Brian, on my 72 T100R I’ve recently started to struggle ‘up shifting’ particularly 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th. Did your bike improve after making this video as I’m not sure what is causing my issue, maybe it’s a similar one to yours.

Hi Colin, yes; shifting is now precise up or down. I think my issue was the combination of the two problems l found. It’s not too bad a job to get to the selector mechanism as you only need to remove the outer cover, hopefully yours will be a simple fix and you don’t have to strip the gearbox. Regards Brian
