"Joban Dhan Paavna", this Bhajan reminds us the universal truth that the deterioration of our physical body is a fact of life. Whether through illness, accident or ageing, we all know our physicality will not last forever. It's like a guest who is just here for a short span of time and will go away soon. We must not be proud of this facade. There is nothing to boast about this human body that can deteriorate any time soon.
This human body is like a cage, made of the 5 elements (Panchtatva). God himself carved it with finest colours but yet it is not permanent. Even for gigantic drums, animal skin is used and not the human one. It depicts that the human skin is just a sham, it's not useful, it's meant to turn down to ashes on the funeral pyre. Even the mighty Ravan with 10 heads and 20 hands couldn't escape his end. Then why are we living in this false sense of hope that our human body is some kind of achievement! It's not, it's just serving the purpose and will grow old with time. This world is like water trapped in a drop of dew. You touch it and it vanishes in no time. As Kabira says we should lift ourselves above the worldly affairs and find our true nature and purpose in life. That's what we live for.
Listen to this insightful Bhajan in the melodious voice of Om Prakash Bhaat.
