@Golonpo @Golonpo Hi,though censorship in Bulgaria was harsh with regards to books/music/films which contained express or implied criticism against the regime, Western singers were not precluded from visiting the country and giving concerts. Dalida is not the sole example, Salvatore Adamo, Gilbert Bécaud, Gianni Morandi, Ornella Vanoni and other famous European singers from that period performed in Bulgaria. Yves Montand was welcomed in the Soviet Union.
@Golonpo Mireille Mathieu was very popular in the Soviet Union where she had some TV appearances as well, she was also a known name in Bulgaria. Demis Russos was in Bulgaria in the early 1990s ,I don't have information if he had been to the country during socialism. The Party didn't have much problem with French or Italian singers singing love ballads but as you said heavy metal was not welcomed, which does not mean it was not listened to by young people.
@Golonpo Of course, the official Party line in Bulgaria was to promote the home, socialistic culture in all its forms - singers were generally not allowed to perform in English ,but Western songs used to be covered in Bulgarian language,I can show you some examples if you are interested.I hope this answers your question.
@cristiyola Hello,if your question is if I have clips with Dalida from Romanian festival Cerbul de aur - sorry,I don't.If I find something,I will let you know.
@@Straccio leider.
