I was at a show in Austin last year and had a spare ticket I gave to a stranger, and lucky for this kid I had an extra pair of ear plugs because this guy was just gonna raw dog it, so I just handed them to him and was like “Trust me, my child”. Hope yours is better now!
The fact that most audience members don’t wear earplugs to Swans' live shows amazes me. :) (I guess the sound coming from the FOH is way louder and agressive that the stage sound.
@@firedirect8440 I can see you havent attended a Swans show in Portugal... (or any other loud band in a small or big space here, often with a very aggressively EQed PA... so many people with no protection I just don't get it)
I have a decibel meter app on my phone. Not sure how accurate it is, but I was measuring like 78 db at two recent shows. 80 db (over extended time, such as a few hours) is a threshold for hearing damage.
@@SergioGarcia-bb8mr Probably not that accurate, most normal concerts are usually around 100-103 dB. Swans recent shows from 2023 were usually around 115-120 dB. Back in the 80's they were playing even louder.
@@zeno6169 oh I was there when he walked off the stage and didn't come back. Took me half of a really long opening song to figure out he wasn't joining the main show.
@22:28 ... when the cymbal knocks down... and it get's intense :-) amazing concert... saw them 20 years ago-> Coward... ears still ringing... but was worth it... got fxxk'ed by the bass from the PA ... Motorhead was for starters... Swans where the real deal 🤘

Does anyone know which gig(s) are on the DVD which comes with the album "To be Kind" ? I'm very curious because a few minutes ago I just bought it for a friends birthday, and I sent it straight to his house. It's not obvious from the things I've so far looked at online! J in England 😀 Just found some information...but not very detailed!
i have this show on DVD from my triple disc copy of To Be Kind and throughout the show it was black and white and had these weird "intentional silences" near the middle and end, this version doesnt ofc. i wonder why the DVD version was edited like that?
Actually burst my left eardrum at their show in Dublin late last year. Was in intense pain for over a week. Can’t wait for the next time….
Lol did you have hearing protection? Appearantly thats a must have at those things
Ok but in all seriousness invest in a pair of earplugs if you don't have any and wear them to any concert you go to

imagine coming to this show for solange and hearing this
my two moods
I'd expect nothing less.
i'd mosh at both
Damn, Solange and Swans tour when? I'm there in a heartbeat (though Solange would have to be first, otherwise, her set would not be heard)
@@witchhousetwerkteam Wow, you're very cool and unique.

the fact that they got even better as a live band with their 2023 lineup is beyond my comprehension
idk, phil and kirstof still do their thing but i kinda miss norman and thor

I think this is the show from Not Here/Not Now which is kinda funny because this video has better sound quality
I think Not Here/Not Now definitely does a better job of capturing the sheer loudness of the performance though

I believe ever swans concert has an evil entity looming over the band.

His name is Joseph and he is not a dark entity but a being of pure light.

It's a trombone, I believe. I don't know enough about trombones to say what specific kind it is.
