Had this problem with my bolt +. Purchased a new 2TB disk from you as it was told to me by your staff that the 3TB disks were prone to failure. I was able to install the disk purchased from you with out incident. Your install video was a great help. I have to be honest though and say that the markup on the Seagate hard drive from your company was a bit much. I needed this repair quickly so I purchased from you. The cost of the disk from you was double what I could have purchased it for through another non TiVO specific vendor. I appreciate what you do for the TiVO community as since moving to Mexico, TiVo support sucks. Is it really necessary to charge so much of a markup on the disks though. A question, what is the warranty on the disk purchased through you? At times a higher price is paid for disks with a longer warranty. How long is the warranty on Seagate disks purchased through you? I know that when purchasing disks through another vendor, such as Dell, or HP the reseller warranty is different. I do support your company and will continue to do business. My Mother is extremely happy having her TiVo working which was the point. It was nice you included the security drivers needed to open the bolt. Not the highest quality in tools, but good enough to do the job. I appreciated that consideration. Those drivers while I already had the security drivers will remain in my electronics kit. I guess I’m saying thank you for the service, but just wanted to express a bit of dissatisfaction in the markup on the disk. Your videos are excellent and again, your efforts to support the community are appreciated. I too have a TiVo bolt which I suspect will die at some point. Can you tell me if I purchase an external solution, can I still use mfstools to transfer recordings from my internal 3TB disk to an external 3 1/2 disk of a much larger capacity?
I had two self-upgraded bolts fail at the same time after a tivo firmware upgrade. removed both drives and put back in the original 500gb drive and the tivo works, and those larger drives work fine in a PC. I am not sure what drive to use at this point to upgrade my Tivo
There are many laptop-sized (2.5") drives that do not work in the TiVo Bolt. We have a very small selection of internal drives and a larger selection of external (3.5") for this very reason.
Crap.... this is happening to my TiVo BoltVox and it's only 1.5 years old!!!!! Is there anything else the 4 flashing lights could symbolize? I can't imaigne the hardddrive is dead after 18 months. My last TiVo lasted 7 years!
@@lewnwdc Yes a good company. Glad it worked out for you. I guess I was fortunate to have it be the power supply. Mine is working just like it always has with a new power supply.
Mine is flashing a pattern, I can't help but think that means something, like giving me the error code. I have barely used this particular Bolt, but I will be disappointed if I lose all of my shows. I'm months behind.
i have had two tivo bolts do this now. great product.
I sure hope some responsible company buys TiVo in 2024 and returns it to its former glory 🎉

It is most likely the power supply. I would replace that first before the hard drive.
@@chumn54 the hard drive was dead. TiVo sent me a free replacement

I just woke up to a flashing red light. Unplugging and plugging back in does nothing. Just keeps flashing the red light.

I have two and one died not too long ago.
It just happened to me yesterday, every recording I have is gone, forever.
Same here, Bolt+ just died, 3 TB of stuff gone. Bummer! Apparently the 3TB drives were junk, and they don’t even make the replacements anymore.
Mine just died after just over 1.5 year. Not a good product!
