One thing about homeownership ... you will always have projects and repairs that will require those extra nails, screws, shingles, caulk, etc.
Regarding your leaky section of roof, I'd recommend you tear it apart, fix it right and not have to worry about it again.

Hi guys! This is Margie, in Texas. You know...the one in Texas living on a small income very comfortably (when I shouldn't be---according to the statistics you posted in a recent video)!
You have 2 beautiful, mature Althea shrubs there (commonly called Rose of Sharon). I bought the white variety some years ago. My mother has a huge pink one in her Ohio yard. We are all gardeners---we grow it all, trees and shrubs, perennials, annuals, flowers and veggies, etc. SO sorry to see that horrible case of poison ivy Frank. I had it once in my life---way back when I was 13--and have never forgotten how miserable it was. Hopefully it is easing up by now. I admire the hard work you guys are putting into the place. And I admire your life principles, and wise advice. You're going to have a nice cozy home in the near future. And yes--the land is beautiful! Blessings to all of you as you go forward ♥

Hi Margie, thank you for your kind words. The poison ivy is healing really well, in just a few more days it should be gone. Thanks for telling us the name of those two bushes we have in our yard. Both bushes started blooming like crazy after we snipped off the over growth; one bush has beautiful pink blooms and the other one has lovely white blooms. They seem to be very prolific...with little buds all over them and so we think they will produce flowers throughout the summer, we hope. We're glad to see you are still following along with us! Yeah, there's a lot of sweat equity involved but we're looking forward to the rewards of having a nice place afterwards. lol.....Blessings.

@@HMFamilyLife Yes! Altheas bloom prolifically throughout the season--and the bit of pruning you did to them helped rejuvenate them. The garden center where I work part-time can't keep them in stock. They sell out as soon as we get them. So glad to know you are healing well Frank. Looks so painful :( Oh yes--I've always been with you guys--never miss a video. I have 2 different accounts on you-tube due to some computer/Google issues I had in the past. So my actual name might not show up--but as I said--I never miss a video. I have always enjoyed following your family wherever you go, and whatever you are doing ♥

I use a cheap skin lotion over my hands arms, face and other places. Let it dry. Use a dedicated pair of gloves and pants and shirts you can throw away when working in a ivy area. Having dried body lotion puts a barrier on your skin. Afterwards take a shower the ivy will stick to the body lotion and goes down the drain.

wow that land is beautiful. I'm considering doing something similar as well. Did this home qualify for traditional financing or did you have to go another route? What state are you located in?

Yes, America is a very diverse (mountains, coasts, deserts, plains) and is a very beautiful country. We don't do debt! We bought the house with cash. That's why we bought a CHEAP old house. lol....!! All of the states in the USA have something for everyone. You just need to know yourself and find the city or town that best suits your needs and lifestyle. Thanks for watching!

I was hoping something closer to that would have been the case but it was more involved than that. Watch what we found and how I repaired it in an upcoming video. Thank you for watching! Take care!
