Love this reaction. This song is a cover of Breathe by Lee-Hi written by Jong-Hyun of Korean boy group Shinee who passed away few years ago. Only if he was comforted by his own lyrics... with all due respect to Lee-Hi, who is a great singer herself, So-Hyang just upped the level even behind the mask. I was crying as well... thank you for your tears as well - that was touching.

the first time I saw So Hyang's performances, I cried and even now I'm still crying 😭That voice is a gift from heaven and she IS an Angel, she worked so hard all those years and managed to touch people's hearts. I'm watching this reaction video after the one you did for the explanation of "UGH" by BTS which talk about the hate/anger that kills people everyday, SO hearing So Hyang now is just A BIG COMFORT. And THIS song is a ✨Masterpiece✨ we have to remember of. Maybe you can also check the original one "Breath" by Lee Hi (also a beautiful voice). AND also this song was written by our dear Jonghyun, a very talented artist idol who sadly took his life because of depression 😢 RIP🕊. My favourite Sohyang song and i didnt need to see her expressions or understand what was being said. The emotion in the delivery gets me everytime.
The song is called ‘breathe’ . It was a big hit on Korea by the original artist. It is a very sad song & sohyang performs it with fantastic emotion, as usual, even though she is behind the mask: all the ‘mouths’ are large because that is where the ‘netting/mesh’ is which enables the singer to breathe & push the sound through. I don’t think it’s that hard apart from the fact that it gets extremely warm in there 😂. Sohyang’s character in this series was ‘spirited old lady’. She is the record holder for the number of weeks spent on throne, where she remained, undefeated as queen for 7 weeks, tackling many genre’s along the way. This is where I heard her rap for the 1st time in a song called ‘day day’ (complete with ripped jeans & medallion). She rocked it out in a song called.‘mona Lisa’ (with leather gloves & biker jacket). I think every song from Sohyang during this series is amazing.

You need to listen to "Stay" the "Beginagain" (Begin Again) version. No subtitles but you'll understand. There is "some" english in the song but it's mostly Korean and 100% beautiful.

Sohyang delivers the spirit of support and consolation with
her wondrous voice in a great performance
The people the camera keeps going to are the celebrity panel & are all well known in the music industry in Korea. The version of these KOMS performances that I have seen are from a different angle, close up & single screen & the video keeps running after the songs have finished & then there are comments by some of the panel, only 1 of which knew it was Sohyang. On every performance they were blown away but one comment in particular stood out & I can’t remember if it was this song or another one but one of the panel said that he’d seen her perform in the previous weeks on KOMS on TV & was blown away so he wanted to watch her live in the studio & he said it’s was even better, he’d never heard or felt anything like it, it made his body shiver.
The likes of me & you are mesmerised by her her singing via video so I just cant begin to imagine what it would be like to hear her on the flesh, just think of that resonance bouncing off the walls etc, oh man! It gives me shivers just thinking about it 😱

I am new to your channel, I really like your reactions! If you are deeping in kpop and in this program specifically, I recommend hearing Kyuhyun in The Masked Singer (When he is the genie), If I am not wrong he won this contest six times in a row back in 2019.
The person who wrote this masterpiece sadly passed away. He helped a lot of people deal with their problems and life issues and truly wanted everyone to be loved and happy. Sadly he couldn't help himself and decided to leave us way too soon. His soul and his spirit were absolutely beautiful and he was such a talented musician. Jonghyun had gained a massive fan following across various countries in the world. However, in December 2017, SHINee's Jonghyun's death shook the entire K-pop industry. The 27-year-old singer was found unconscious at a private hotel in Seoul on December 18, 2017. The singer committed suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning.
SHINee’s Jonghyun penned a farewell note, which was made public the other day. The note revealed the crushing pressure the Korean pop star felt from being a celebrity in the country. He wrote, “I am broken from inside. The depression that had been slowly eating me up finally devoured me and I couldn’t defeat it”. According to Koreaboo, Kim’s older sister had received a text message from the singer-songwriter hinting about suicide. On December 18, 2017, the suicide note was uploaded on the Instagram of Nine’s management.

This song also has a sad story behind it. Lee Hi who originally sings it, asked Jonghyun to write a song for her after she recovered from depression. Little did she knew that when he wrote this song he was struggling with depression which resulted him committing suicide.

If you need a good cry look up the origin of this song, originally performed by Lee Hi and written for her by one of her best friends Jonghyun from the KPOP group SHINEE. He wrote it for her while she was undergoing anxiety issues that were starting to harm her career while being in the midst of depression himself, a battle he eventually lost to suicide. Lee Hi then performed the song at an awards show as a tribute to her friend and couldn't get through it without crying. The masks all have a thin "net/mesh" in the area where the mouth is, which basically lets air through very easily. That's how they are able to sing with a regular holding microphone (if you mean that). The rest of the mask is made of thicker fabrics and decorations. You can watch other King of Mask Singer episodes, any of them, and you'll see what I mean. All masks have that thin mesh in the mouth area. It's never covered or decorated over.
The US version of this show, which was inspired by this Korean show by the way, uses more extravagant, over-the-top costumes, and there the holding mic is actually just a prop. The US performers have a small ear-piece with a wire with a tiny mic right in front of their mouths under the masks; You probably know what I mean. Performers usually wear those tiny mics when they are dancing and singing at the same time, and they use a bit of tape to fix the mic wire to their cheek. Anyways, that's the US approach.
In the original Korean show they use holding mics, and a thin mesh fabric in the mouth area of the masks, so the singers can sing. That's also why their masks are never over-the-top big. They want to maintain dexterity, so the mask doesn't interfere with their singing.
