Listen to the album version. The moans are Axl and the drummers girlfriend doing it in the studio lol. Axl wanted “authentic ness” 😜😂 they were wild! Love GNR!
To bad they did the live version. I seen G & R in concert with Skid Row, but I think everyone in there wanted to tie Axl down, so he'd stop running. Skid Row was awesome though.
Steven Adler had groove for days! Matt Sorum, while technically the better drummer, was too mechanical. In that reapect, it was the same with Iron Maiden's Clive Burr vs Nicko McBrain. (just that Clive didn't have addiction problems, afaik)
Fun fact during this show the sound guys in the back were apparently fucking up and it was making it really difficult for axl and the band to hear themselves which is why he sounds much raspier in Live at the Ritz 88 than usual, the guy was basically pushing his vocals to their absolute limits which is also why he threw the mic, he was trying to hit the one of the monitor men lol
When I first watched that part I thought he spotted a hater in the backstage and was like "screw the show, kicking that guy's ass is more important" lol
Rocket Queen might be the most underrated GNR song. This version is all right, but I think Axl had issues with his mic, and Slash walked off stage to find him when he ordinarily plays his solo.
GnR were huge right out the gate. Their first album blew up so fast when I tried to see them live back then they canceled 3 different appearances because they went from opening for David Lee Roth to headlining their own concert in a large hall to headlining arenas in the span of a few months.
My memories of this concert are: setting my vcr to record it; coming home (around 3am) from a gig with my bar band (mates) and the five of us watching it while eating ribs and cornbread. Ah...the '80's!
They were hella popular by 1987/1988. Appetite For Destruction was and is , one of the best albums. As far as Axel's dance (worm thing), go Asia, I think he started that.
Appetite for Destruction was HUGE in the late 80's. Just saw them live in Detroit last summer and seeing Slash live is seriously a religious experience.
Guns N Roses had the highest selling debut album of all time with Appetite for Destruction, it released in 1987 but didn’t get big until 1988. They began their first headlining stadium tour in 1991 and seemingly disappeared in 1993 at the conclusion of that tour. Only releasing 3 albums of original work between 87-91. They broke up later in the 90’s after they couldn’t come to terms on a new album.
It's funny you guy's didn't realize Axl literally walked of the stage during the sound verse, Slash had to go find him, them AXL threw a microphone at the side stage monitor engineer (feedback? can't hear himself?) and walked off before the last vocal section. Axl man, he was volatile as all hell. Slash was driving Axl somewhere when he first met him. Slash mentioned to him, maybe don't sleep on the couch during the day, his grandma love's to sit on it. Driving full speed, Axl opened to door, jumped out, rolled onto the concrete street, got up, jumped a fence of a house and headed off HAHA. They didn't see him for a while after that. That's when slash though "okay; kid gloves with Axl". Those 2 were the best paring I've seen in any genre of music. Just raw energy.
This is one truly legendary live performance. They were 20-22 yrs old... as aw as they could be. The last headbanging of Slash is the definition of beauty. While they build up a wall of sound you cannot top.
This is the music video that played on MTV when I was 7 years old. It is the reason I am a musician today. I started with guitar, but play many instruments now. The deciding factor for me was when I saw the woman reach up and grab Slash's hand at 1:57. He pulled his hand away and continued playing all cool. It had a profound effect on me, and I wanted to be that cool. Now I'm 44 and I never even got close to that level of cool, but I am an accomplished musician that has been lucky enough to tour a few places around the globe with a band that played festivals and opened for larger bands back in the late 90s/Early 2000s.
Appetite For Destruction is one of the very best Rock albums ever. The whole album is banger, it’s what sets them apart. You will feel like running through walls if you listen to it in the right frame of mind. Makes you feel like a badass.
If you google which artist had recorded the greatest vocal range, believe it or not it's Axl at a 6 octave range. I listened to him from the time they came out and would have never guessed that.
Axl disappeared backstage for quite a while after that first verse and chorus. The band was a little confused…he probably went and did a line of blow 😂
Actually there is a whole other verse to end the song, the live version of Rocket Queen was in Tokyo 91. Yes they were still hungry here at the Ritz uncut and raw😉😃
Tokyo sucked that's one of the worst performances of rocket Queen the Marquee club 1987 it's one of the best versions and Las Vegas 1992 was pretty good but Tokyo come on now his voice was awful that night
GnR were HUGE back then. The Ritz where they were playing was an iconic music venue. This full concert was shown on MTV. As a kid, I set my VHS player up to record it and still have the VHS today.
If you watch live stuff; gotta watch 91-93 era. That's when they were at their absolute best. Nothing beats prime-Axl Rose Aaand; it's not the worm.. It THE Axl Snakedance
This is my favorite of thiers . When they broke up rock'nroll suffered and has every since . they released a video to this thats not a live video that the sound is better on .this show is were they probably realized we are to big to play small venues like this one lol!
The Rocket Queen.... Barbi Von Greif. Listen to My Michelle. These are examples of what happens when you ask your friend Axl Rose to write a song about you.
GnR Lies album got people hooked. Appetite for Destruction started their quick rise to superstardom. The 90's is when they hit their peak with the albums Use Your Illusions 1 and Use Your Illusions 2. They were on top of the world for close to 10yrs. Usual rocknroll stuff, sex drugs rocknroll, hit em pretty hard in the late 90's until nearly all of the band went their separate ways. Axl tried to keep the "band" going by himself but it never took off or seen the notoriety they once had in the 90's. Many former band members, most notably Slash, returned in their last big tour, titled Not In This Lifetime, that started in 2016 and went on for like 3 yrs.
They formed in 85' but really exploded in 1987 with the album Appetite for Destruction. They're golden period was between 87' - 92', 93' pretty much. That was their time at the peak of the mountain.
This video / concert premiered on MTV 20:27/1989. The same day of the big earthquake in San Francisco. My then wife didn’t want to stay here n our apartment due to some cracks in the plaster… we ended up at my parents house that evening. Later that night, while channel surfing I cam across this. I grabbed d a vhs tape, popped it in the vcr and captured this epic show. Months later they would be worldwide superstars!!!
The song Rocket Queen was off the album Appetite For Destruction with the monsters Sweet Child o’ Mine, Paradise City and Welcome to The Jungle. This was released in 1987 but didn’t do well but slowly crept up then shot to the top and became the fastest and biggest debut album of all time and is still up there in the top 5 albums 33 years later!
Appetite for destruction was their debut album and sold over 30m copies and became the best selling album of all times - Rocket queen was on that album! The album blew up in 1989 especially... They were huge back then....
The reason this was filmed in a small club in NYC, is because their manager(who also managed Great White) had booked MTV to film Great White live, but he insisted that they filmed the support band (GUNS N ROSES) as well. It just so happened that GNR took off and became WAY bigger than any of their peers. Their debut album Appetite for Destruction could possible be the best debut rock album of all time. Look at the sales figures.. that's bigger then Michael Jackson
When that fan ran up on stage and smacked slash’s hand as you could see he kind of body blocked Axl to kind of protect him I feel like because he knew Axl would storm off if the fan went and touched him😂😂😂😭😭😭
That particular video was from I think around 1986 their debut album appetite for destruction came out in '87 I think that the group that was classic guns n' roses I think that they all got together around 85 something like that mid late '80s
I seen them on the Appetite for Destruction tour, when they were still opening for Aerosmith. Awsome show, although you could definitely tell that they were wasted off their asses off...but then again so were we lol.
Guns was formed in 1986 they recorded appetite for destruction in the storage room of a guitar center and was released in 1987. They released the use your illusion albums in 1991 it was a double release. They then went on the use your illusion world tour which was the longest tour in rock history and lasted from 1991 to 1993 and was full of drama. After that they broke up for a long time slash went on to do three solo projects which were Slash’s Snakepit, Velvet Revolver with former Guns bassets duff Mckagan, and the work he’s done with Myles Kennedy. Duff has had a few solo albums. Steven fell off the radar for awhile after he was fired in 1990 due to his substance abuse issues. He was replaced by Matt Sorum who would later go on to join the cult and also have a successful solo career. Steven is currently back in the spotlight with his new solo project. Axl went on with his version of Guns N’ Roses for awhile releasing the album Chinese Democracy. Izzy had a side project for awhile and wrote a book about the early days of Guns N’ Roses. Slash also wrote a book about the same thing. In 2016 the band finally got back together and went on the not in this lifetime tour which I saw them on and they were great. They are currently on tour right now and about to kick off the South American leg. I’ve been a Guns N’ Roses fan since I was about two years old.
I live in St.Louis and was at the concert in Riverport when the riot broke out during this song. Crazy shit man. Cops beating people left and right with billy clubs for not moving fast enough. Tear gas grenades, mass chaos. Got a buddy that has 2 seats he stole from the amiptheater during all that. Was some crazy shit man. Got Axle barred from St.Louis.
Guns N' Roses was huge from the beginning... This album was part of the top 10 for 3 years from 87' to 90'. Appetite for Destrution was an album full of Hit singles. e.g. Rocket Queen is the last song on this Album... Singles from this album prior 1. Welcome to the Jungle 2. Sweet Child O' Mine 3. Paradise City 4. Night Train 5. It's So Easy 6. Mr. Brownstone, etc... You don't get it! This whole Album is a #1 Single waiting to happen!!!
When GnR released Appetite for destruction they were not a mainstream band. Once radio stations got hold of it the blew up. My band was covering them before people actually knew who they were. When they hit they hit hard.
GNR was the biggest band in the world from 88-92 then it all fell apart. THe GNR doesn't include 2 key elements - the drummer in this video, Steven Adler, and primary songwriter, Izzy Stradling.... the other guitarist
Axel & Izzy came from my town, dude was crazy but that town made us no count kids that way. Mad Respect he gave that town the middle finger it deserved
O yeah! They were popular af! They killed all the other big rock bands when they came out. Motley crue...Def Leppard... bon Jovi. GnR was on another level. And we f'n loved it!!!
This whole album is a banger. When they came out it was like crack in music form
Possibly the greatest debut album of all time
Facts. I wore this album out from the day it was released.
You couldn't go anywhere from 88-91 without hearing this record or GnR
banging through people's windows.
And MTV I just remember seeing Welcome To The Jungle , Paradise City , Sweet Child Of Mine and One from Metallica videos so much
Listen to the album version.
What the Hell that happened in the studio I thought it was a sample!!!
You’re right brother.
No way
Yeah and she gave em crabs lol
Steven Adler legendary drummer. Can never be replaced
Steven Adler had groove for days! Matt Sorum, while technically the better drummer, was too mechanical.
In that reapect, it was the same with Iron Maiden's Clive Burr vs Nicko McBrain. (just that Clive didn't have addiction problems, afaik)
@@revylokesh1783Sorum sucks, Adler had that dragging swag beat.
But he was.....

Michelle is my favorite off this release but RQ is my second. Very underrated tune.
Love this song. Underrated. Live versions slap!!
My Michelle and Night Train too
Yeah, My Michelle is also under-appreciated.
Its not underrated
@@hankmoody3285 Well, then. The official ruling is in.
Gn'R formed in '85, this performance is from a concert at the Ritz in '88
This is my favorite G-N-R song. Very overlooked banger
Same here, that breakdown @ th end is incredible 🍻
Overlooked ? It’s played every show. And is a fan favourite
GnR were huge right out the gate. Their first album blew up so fast when I tried to see them live back then they canceled 3 different appearances because they went from opening for David Lee Roth to headlining their own concert in a large hall to headlining arenas in the span of a few months.

Anyone that doesn't get chills when they hear this song is not human. Probably their best song!
most bipolar song hahah it's great tho
They were hella popular by 1987/1988.
Appetite For Destruction was and is , one of the best albums.

Appetite for Destruction was HUGE in the late 80's. Just saw them live in Detroit last summer and seeing Slash live is seriously a religious experience.
Appetite for Destruction, debut album, arguably one of the best rock albums from end to end...no bad songs on the whole thing

The beauty of Guns N Roses is that you can react to every live performance of a single song as they're all different and wild, there's so much
It's funny you guy's didn't realize Axl literally walked of the stage during the sound verse, Slash had to go find him, them AXL threw a microphone at the side stage monitor engineer (feedback? can't hear himself?) and walked off before the last vocal section. I saw original Guns @Roses open up for Motley Crew 1987 before they made it big Appietite for Destruction was released in July of 1987
You're a lucky and blessed guy
This live doesn't do this song justice! Rocket Queen is an awesome song!💟 That dance he does is just how he moves while he sings, lol! I love it! 😉
The studio version slaps so hard. The ending is $$$
This is from their 1st album Appetite For Destruction released in 1987
This is one truly legendary live performance. They were 20-22 yrs old... as aw as they could be. The last headbanging of Slash is the definition of beauty. While they build up a wall of sound you cannot top.
This was the real thing, with that drummer it was magic!

Not 1 of the very best. It is the best
Makes you feel like a gang biker
Axl Rose is a great frontman. Guns should be reacted live
If you google which artist had recorded the greatest vocal range, believe it or not it's Axl at a 6 octave range. I listened to him from the time they came out and would have never guessed that.
7 octave is what I read.
These reactions are absolute 🔥 lately!

I always called it the Axl Shuffle, but I never heard “Snake Dance.” Cool, I like it.

Yeah I graduated high school in 1985 and GNR EXPLODED in 1987 and took over the world, they were then and still are today my FAVORITE band....
They formed in 85' but really exploded in 1987 with the album Appetite for Destruction. They're golden period was between 87' - 92', 93' pretty much. That was their time at the peak of the mountain.
This was an epic GnR concert… this was the last song of the night and by this time Axl’s voice complete toast ..
Yall should react to album version.the sound is much too clearer than this one and phenomenal
The whole appetite for destruction album is a masterpiece you need to check out use your illusion one and two

Ritz is the most powerful and energetic live version of all
The song Rocket Queen was off the album Appetite For Destruction with the monsters Sweet Child o’ Mine, Paradise City and Welcome to The Jungle. This was released in 1987 but didn’t do well but slowly crept up then shot to the top and became the fastest and biggest debut album of all time and is still up there in the top 5 albums 33 years later!
I remember watching this ritz 88 NY show on mtv when it aired. I was 7 or 8 at the time and it’s still my favorite show. I’m glad you guys found it!
Guns N'Roses - it's So Easy - official music video.
Live 1987 at the Ritz!!! Watch this whole show. I was recorded just before they blew up! G'n'r at their best right here.
Yall need to react to the riot Guns N Roses started at a concert
Appetite for destruction was their debut album and sold over 30m copies and became the best selling album of all times - Rocket queen was on that album! The album blew up in 1989 especially... They were huge back then....
My favorite version of this song is in Tokyo 92'. One of their best songs for sure
The Ritz was a small venue in the East Village, NYC. Nowadays, it’s Webster Hall. Small and intimate
I think it was filmed at the Roxy on the L.A. strip . mid-sized club . But anyone who is anyone from the 80's played there
Watched this concert live on MTV when I was 16. It was unprecedented at the time.
Guns where legendary please remember this is live and very old but they're great I was privileged to see them a few times in concert
The 92 tokyo, 2016 Houston/Coachella/Vegas performances of this are my favorite
drum and bass solo, axl and slash smoking cigarettes, axl gyrating, fans crashing the stage ... chaos never looked so good.
I seen them play at the Roxy in the early 80’s before they made it. They had a song called Live Like a suicide. They were crazy!
They started out as the opening act for Aerosmith in 1988 . A few weeks in they were headlining, their own tour !
When that fan ran up on stage and smacked slash’s hand as you could see he kind of body blocked Axl to kind of protect him I feel like because he knew Axl would storm off if the fan went and touched him😂😂😂😭😭😭
You're crazy live at fox late night show one of the best vocal performance of axl
That particular video was from I think around 1986 their debut album appetite for destruction came out in '87 I think that the group that was classic guns n' roses I think that they all got together around 85 something like that mid late '80s
Their debut album Apetite for Destruction that included Rocket Queen was their best album. That was about 85 or 86
I seen them on the Appetite for Destruction tour, when they were still opening for Aerosmith. Awsome show, although you could definitely tell that they were wasted off their asses off...but then again so were we lol.
One of my favorites. Driving, hard, rock n roll baybee! They had cigarette roadies. They always had a stogie ready to go.
I think this was 1987 at the Roxy. Steven Adler was the drummer before he left the band and before his stroke.
THIS IS IT..PURE, RAW ROCK N FKN ROLL..Live At The Ritz 88..amazing
Their first album exploded onto the charts. This song and Civil War are my favorites.
This is about the era when I saw them..1987....raw n early on promoting the 1st album.
You should have checked it live in Tokyo 92
Every band starts somewhere and success begins...👍👍🙏🥇...guns n roses the best...

From 85 they still the best 👍👍💖🙏🏅🙂..its rock n roll...
Gotta do knocking on heavens door at the Freddie Mercury tribute. Best performance ever
They were playing the Ritz and back in the day that meant you had made it. They were super popular in 87-92
I live in St.Louis and was at the concert in Riverport when the riot broke out during this song. Crazy shit man. Cops beating people left and right with billy clubs for not moving fast enough. Tear gas grenades, mass chaos. Got a buddy that has 2 seats he stole from the amiptheater during all that. Was some crazy shit man. Got Axle barred from St.Louis.

Amazing songs and romántic hard rock , rocket Queen and My michelle
Check out ‘Paradise City’ from the same concert (live at the Ritz ‘88). The performance is 🔥
We don't know what happened but Axl disappeared on the second verse! A whole part of the song is missing
This clip is from a concert at The Ritz in NYC in 1988.
When GnR released Appetite for destruction they were not a mainstream band. Once radio stations got hold of it the blew up. My band was covering them before people actually knew who they were. When they hit they hit hard.
I love the drummer so much
One of my favorite songs ever
Rocket queen is what hard rock is all about. Gotta listen to the studio version with lyrics
I remember watching mtv headbangers ball , waiting for the debut of welcome to the jungle … we had a party that night waiting on that to drop !! Lol …
I think their largest concert to date was 90k people in the early 90’s. Either 91 or 92
drum n bass,guiter KILLER shot
GNR was the biggest band in the world from 88-92 then it all fell apart.
THe GNR doesn't include 2 key elements - the drummer in this video, Steven Adler, and primary songwriter, Izzy Stradling.... the other guitarist
Yessss! This is from “Live at the Ritz, NYC 88’”
This was also the encore at the end of the night, so Axl’s voice was pretty shot by then
As a 6th grader in '87, I used to fantasize about seeing them live like this. I never got to, but I can still feel that urge XD
Axel & Izzy came from my town, dude was crazy but that town made us no count kids that way. Mad Respect he gave that town the middle finger it deserved
Loved this !!! Saw them 20 yrs ago
around 90 or 91 was when they peaked for me , loved them when i was a kid
probably the last great rock n roll band?
The bloke, on the bass , is Duff mckagan. The Simpson's use his name as duff beers. Because Axl would induce him on stage, Duff mckagan king of beers.
It's AMAZING you reviewed this song!
O yeah! They were popular af! They killed all the other big rock bands when they came out. Motley crue...Def Leppard... bon Jovi. GnR was on another level. And we f'n loved it!!!
I love Rocket Queen
You guys have got to do the studio version! Sounds is much better and the breakdown is awesome!!
You should watch the Paradis city version of this same gig. So rock n 'roll version.
This video was done in 1987
