I'm guessing that 19 count is for Touhou 19, the PC-98 games and the Spin-offs? It's funny how all of those combined add up to the same number as the main games.
Imo, the alt endings for UM changed the way I saw the game a lot Since you had free reign to make a build until the end of stage 5, my builds stopped being focused on making powerhouse shots and more on racking up resources to take Chimata down without being wiped out
About UM. ZUN did mention that he doesn't balance the cards much himself. As a result, some card are outright OP. Meanwhile enemies are abit tanky compare to previous game so far. So no card run in UM is gonna be painful abit - x-);
Okina's final changes based on your subshot. She's only that mobile when you have the autumn subshot since the spell card is supposed to reflect the season and autumn release makes you go fast (zoooom~)
If you dislike the card system in UM, you could just only choose the life card, it's 100% guaranteed to show up and it isn't useless, nor is it very expensive to buy either
the three games covered here are some of my personal favorites, always happy to see some appreciation for post-lolk entries Chimata changed my life forever
Personally, Unconnected Marketeers is my favorite Touhou game of all-time. I love the card gimmick, and I personally wouldn't mind if it became a permanent staple for the series going forward. (As an optional mode, of course.)
The assessment of 19 is pretty fair considering how certain cards can radically affect how runs go. In regards to the whole blank card ending (get the blank card at stage 5's shop, beat Chimata w/ only the blank card), the only thing it does (besides being a different ending slideshow) is grant you the ability to start with another card (totaling 3), which can help if there is a card or combination of cards you want to ensure you get.
Miko and Junko also have seven spellcards. Technically, the longest final boss is Kaguya - who has ten - but half of them are part of her last spell, so
Hello. It’s your resident UFO enjoyer here, and I’m gonna give more tips and insight into what you should be doing and thinking about to better enjoy playing UFO. First, the other colors are not things to avoid. The UFO system is way more flexible than you give it credit. Game isn’t gonna give you free reds all the time, but that’s fine as you can create your own reds using the blue and the green. Second, you act like getting the wrong color than what you were aiming for (I assume 100% red) is a terrible thing that wastes resources when it really isn’t as bad as you think. If you make a mistake and get some mismatched colors, you don’t just crumple up and die. You gotta pivot and shift your focus and go “Okay. That didn’t go as planned. How do I salvage this?” And that usually means getting a Rainbow UFO. Three, I mentioned this long time ago, but please for the love of god DONT SAVE YOU BOMBS FOR BOSSES. Bombs have way more utility as easy ways to collect UFOs in stages. Having no bombs left when reaching a boss is BEST case scenario. As you don’t need to worry about wasting anything, just dodge the best you can.
Green is useful in some places where red takes too much time to summon (plus you get resources more immediately), but blue ufos are incredibly niche on survival, they often get in the way more than anything. Even when you use rainbow, unless you are low on power and know that point item section is coming up, you're still converting 3 tokens into 2 flashing ones (for example, the start of Stage 2 is an excellent place for rainbow and why ending Stage 1 with Red+Green is good). Which is why after the funny Stage 4 midboss trick, you get two UFO fairies... that drop static blue tokens.
Been here sincethe first video and gotta say I really enjoyed it up to this point (even tho I had to wait so much for the lolk video), really I wanna see how you play the spin off games and extra stages :D Also the keiki art in the thumbnail looks amazing I love it
I have lots of suggestions for fangames, my main suggestions are: - Sapphire Panlogism - Treasure Castle Labyrinth - Mystical Power Plant - Book of Star Mythology Those are like, the most populars ones in the Touhou Fangame Golden Era. There's also a couple of Touhou-inspired Shmups like Incarnation Erased From History, u should give it a try :3
This is a very fun series to watch! Seeing someone go through the games for the first time made me nostalgic when I also started out years ago lol, so it's really nice :) Also the praise for Megumu and her attacks made me so happy cuz I'm so glad someone else also really appreciates how wonderful her spells look... omg
When I last played Touhou, Hidden Star in Four Seasons had just come out and I remember being amazed it actually released on Steam. I watched you play through the series yesterday, and it inspired me to redownload HSiFS. I had a lot of fun playing it again, even if I was McStruggling to shake my rust off. It also amazed me that ZUN released almost every Touhou game on Steam from 9 on. Sadly my 2 favorite, PCB and IN, were not on Steam, but I am excited to finally give ZUN more money.
Some challenge ways to play UM aside from Chimata carding stage 6, are to limit yourself to DPS, and then another is to only use the 3 starting cards you get as basically character shot selection and skip shops. (Once you win in every way you get 3 starting cards to play with) The classic Lunatic, No bomb, no death challenge run has a card specifically helpful for it earned in the extra stage. Finally there is just a full Chimata card run, but the dps on fairies can be sad.
wow i literally went back to watch your videos on touhou (and len’en) yesterday and the day before that- only to see you made a new touhou upload! man what convenience
did you find all of the secret beast spirits in touhou 17? ;) also edit: in UM, when you start you can chose to carry one card before choosing a character and starting the game, clearing the game unlocks a second card and getting the alternate ending with the blank card lets you use a third card before starting.
Damn, you are quick! You just about blitzed through these 3 games. Have you considered trying to 1cc the games on hard mode? Or maybe perhaps Lunatic? That would be quite interesting to watch.
Looking at this series of videos I realize one can miss out on some very important characters if they only play the main series, including a few that have their own dedicated manga.
I really recommend trying the pc-98 games sometimes, there is a lot of emulators and setups online to running them. obviously they won't be as polished as the windows games, but they're still fun on their own and is fun to see how the franchise started and evolved.
Theres alot of things you probably missed in Touhou 8 IN, you could try getting all last words and playing as only 1 character, jesus I still remember that line "instead of picking 1 anime girl, you get to pick 2 anime girls, how lovely". You heavily know this already but if your only gonna stream it, you could also make a video about it, i'm taking about the extra stages and the lore, or maybe even a reaction video. Fact is, Zun thought touhou 8 was gonna be the last touhou game so Zun went all out and give it his best, gladly for some unexpected reason it was continued. Anyways I didn't expect its gonna be this QUICK for you to upload a new video. In touhou 8 game mechanic I watched your stream and your doing something that is not really a bad thing, in IN you can get extra time orbs when the enemies summon a white thing that floats around, you can press shift to not kill those white orbs, those white things need to be close to the summoner and by pressing shift, note that you need to do it in a perfect spot or else the white thing just floats around until the summoner gets away or dies, it doesn't affect the sight bar at all allowing you to get more time orbs easily. I agree with Eirin being the fun boss just because were a big fan of slow dense thing, "it makes us feel like we unlock ultra instinct"
I don't think you will like Th 19 if you don't like PoFV, as it also have balance issue, so much that fans created a balance patch for it. The plot and characters are great though if you're a lore person
18 was alright, but where the cards system really shines is 18.5. Though the game is simpler and smaller than 18, boring pattern-wise, repetitive at times and has a lot of RNG that can make or break the run, it's just dumb fun to grind cards and trying to make an OP killer combo to complete the level. When you die, you'll only restart from the current level, making the stakes much lower, but allowing you to go nuts with the card setups and tactics. I enjoyed it very much.
Now there's only 19 games,12 music disks,10 mangas, and like 6 book of official touhou left!
And don’t even let me get started on the number of fan games
And also an emulator for touhou 1 to 5!
lost branch of legend has been my addiction recently, but luna nights was a fun time too. can't forget mystia's izakaya
And then Len'en, of course.
I'm guessing that 19 count is for Touhou 19, the PC-98 games and the Spin-offs? It's funny how all of those combined add up to the same number as the main games.
maybe the real "so i played MORE Touhou games for the first time" was the mainline games we played along the way

The PC-98 games deserve their own episode. Particularly LLS and MS, even still some of my favorites in the whole series
Getting the alternate ending in Touhou 18 unlocks the third card slot. You can do it on easy to get it over quickly.
Miko and Junko also have seven spellcards.

Play Shoot the Bullet, you will not regret it.
...For most of the part.
Definitely one of the most unique bullet hells imo
Yep, spinoffs are definitely in my plans for the future!
"Seamless Ceiling of Kinkaku-ji" says hello.
The UFO PTSD got some chuckles out of me.

Unconnected Marketeers is my favorite touhou game, maybe because it is the first touhou game i olayed, so I'm probably biased
