My wife and I are huge fans. This is one of my all time favorite videos! Thank you so much for educating us while thoroughly entertaining us.. God Bless
Don't know if you still read this, but you had Labrador tea all around you while you were picking the berries. Lab tea is good for you and by adding some rose hips makes a great cold remedy. Lab tea does contain some caffeine so it makes a great morning tea. Just add dry leaves to boiling water and boil til dark tea color. I usually make a big pot so you will have to experiment with the amount of leaves. Start with a dozen or so to a couple of cups of water. The last place you showed berries you can also see lab tea in among the berry plants. Dark green slender leaves with a golden rough underside. Be well.
I'm so jealous! What a great day in beautiful country with ur buddy takin a stroll, finding blueberries... fresh water... n makin what u need to take advantage of it all! U rock!
late to the party and birch can make a slick cone container but I like how you used it ! my hat usually gets filled with blueberries.your container is right there on your head .
❤️ that’s aright and pretty handy there. I am glad it don’t hurt the tree to do that to it. Those blueberries looked very good... made me hungry. Ty for sharing!
Hi Brooke, I'm a recent subscriber, blueberry lover and wilderness girl. Love the birchbark cup and container. Also love everything you've got going here! Yayyyy!!!!

I love your vibe & may God bless you & yours, always. xoxo
LOVE EM! I will need to make me some :) I have one mink pelt thus far (was actually a perfectly preserved roadkill) so I had my friend tan it. Although I do know how to tan, and maybe I need to make a video of this!! hmmm :) IDEAS IDEAS IDEAS
How to track, hunt, and trap girls in the woods. Get blue berries. Place one blue berry on ground every 18 inches. Dig a hole cover with blue berries, cake, milk, etc. Walk to cover and wait.
LMAO! This vid was not only funny, but "BLUEBERRY!!!!" educational! Birch bark, natures construction material! I'm planting some blueberry bushes in my yard now... Wonder if they'll grow in SoCal?
Mad Birch bark skills Brook! Way to make it happen hard to leave that batch for the bears!! Indeed looked a little nuts while eating blueberry short cake!! Hahhahha!!
Hi, my name is Mike Elmore and I have a blueberry addiction. I've developed a twelve step program to support this. Step one, watch 'Girl in the Woods' video. Then proceed to step two...
Well, you could have used your hat as a container and you could have used the bandanna around you wrist to soak up water abs squeeze into your mouth. But then you wouldn't have had a reason to make this informative birch bark usage video, correct? ;) Good job! Dang it! Now ya went gave me a craving for blueberry pancakes...
Any knife will do! Just pick one you like and fits your needs. I like high carbon steel knives because they sharpen easier, but will also dull easier too. Mora makes great, cheap knives too. Check em out!
Not very believable! Just happen to go for walk, with only your knife, come across a huge blue berry patch, oh I'm sure you knew they were there, then you drink from a small stream that you "Assume is pure. Then you come up with whipcream...........
No I didn't. You don't kill them unless you get into the cambium layer. I've lived in Alaska nearly my entire adult life. I've seen trees stand for decades that have had bark removed in places. Experience is the real test for the truth.
Ah ha! So I was wrong I've been told that ringing a tree would kill it but on the birch as long as you're not going to deep you can, unless you're trying to create a dead standing tree to harvest at a later time

Hats also make good containers! Beautiful scenery! And such a nice 4 legged companion!
use the neckerchief on your left wrist ! 😉
Outstanding! Great video! Man I wish blueberries grew wild here! Yum!
Blueberries and strawberries are tied for number 1 in my book!
I know, right! You just can't collect enough of those little guys. I could put a serious dent in a gallon jug of wild strawberries!
Thank you dear Brookie! I learn so much from you🤩 I love blueberries too.
I learned something new AGAIN from you. Thanks so much.
Awsome !!!! all of the wilderness survival skills I've learned over the years i never knew you could split birch bark like that. Thanq for the info.
The blueberries looked really good! Nice job on the birch bark stuff! I wish we had that resource around here! LOL!
Doesn't taking the bark from all the way around a tree kill it? I know doing that to a cedar tree will.
Makes sense to me! Thanks for your reply! :)
My question too!
What happened to the answer ?? Does it or doesn’t it hurt the tree??
Really like your up beat style.. and your so much fun.
Love it!! The berries really are great this year, and so early too
Gotta say i love that cup n box. Never seen that in 4 yrs of watchimg you tube outdoor channels. Subbed

I LOVE your backwoods churned cream...
that's awesome I didn't now the method to make a cup! never seen bevor. thanks
AWESOME BROOKE!🥰
Love this video! And love your laugh. Could you give me some tips on best practices for getting the bark so I'm not hurting any trees? I wanna try!
harvest in the spring (ish) while the sap is running (for easier removal) and don't cut below the cambium layer- the tree will be fine
@@therealgirlinthewoods Thanks !
Great tutorial, I just wish I could find some Birch trees in my area!
I LOVE YOUR EARRINGS!!!! You rock btw ;)
LOVE EM! I will need to make me some :) I have one mink pelt thus far (was actually a perfectly preserved roadkill) so I had my friend tan it. Although I do know how to tan, and maybe I need to make a video of this!! hmmm :) IDEAS IDEAS IDEAS
Great video Brooke. Keep up the good work

How to track, hunt, and trap girls in the woods.
Get blue berries. Place one blue berry on ground every 18 inches. Dig a hole cover with blue berries, cake, milk, etc. Walk to cover and wait.
if you make strips out of it you could weave a basket as well right ?
absolutely!
@@therealgirlinthewoods it's a nice to have something to do while camping so i'm thinking of just making some basket with strips and twigs and sticks.
I want some of what you had when you were eating the blueberry shortcake (which looked A-maze- Ing by the way)!
AS always Brooke . . .I loved the video !! Keep doing "You" :)
hi im in new zealand have you used redwood bark at all for fires or whatever not many birch trees here cheers Bill
No redwood except in California
Great video, super job on the container and cup! Subbed your channel, greetings from Germany!
LMAO! This vid was not only funny, but "BLUEBERRY!!!!" educational! Birch bark, natures construction material! I'm planting some blueberry bushes in my yard now... Wonder if they'll grow in SoCal?
surprised the birch came off at all, usually in end of May or June when it is taken off the tree. Maybe because way up in the mountain.
Mad Birch bark skills Brook! Way to make it happen hard to leave that batch for the bears!! Indeed looked a little nuts while eating blueberry short cake!! Hahhahha!!
*****
And you are a pear for watching my toilet factory!! What did we create a crap fest!? hahhahaa!!
AWESOME video Brooke! :)
Removing the bark does not damage the tree?
I love your resourceful attitude. Your cup consisted of a basic origami fold. I have done that with paper on the fly when I was thirsty..
doesn't it hurt the tree to take the bark off?
As long as you don't cut into the cambium, the tree will live a normal life. No harm to the tree. thanks for watching
hello , what is the cambium and how can you knew you did not cut into it , please do tell
HELLO THERE , shoot I deleted then retyped so again : how can you tell , how you knew you had not cut into it Brook ?
Good job girl !
Ha..you can NEVER have enough whip cream😁😂😁😁
hello there !! great video... I subscribed from Brazil !!!
=D
Hi, my name is Mike Elmore and I have a blueberry addiction. I've developed a twelve step program to support this. Step one, watch 'Girl in the Woods' video. Then proceed to step two...
Love video
Awesome!!!🤗👍
I love jungle👍😍
I,verbena told that blueberries are really good for your eyes have fun
them blueberries are so good for you..
Your great!
Very cool
So is it ok to strip bark all the way around a birch? Guess you aren’t going deep enough to kill the tree?
that's right- don't want to go beyond cambium layer.
We're you on Alone?
have you ever been out picking berries and have a big ole teddy bear come along and scare ya out of the patch?
No, but I've seen sign... always on guard!
Randall knife?
Remington
You had a hat... We found tons on our last hike. The higher the elevation the sweeter they tasted.
Sinfonian Barelytone Ifshe had used her hat, she couldn't have made this awesome video for us. 😊
Your teasin ,! Haha just not fair!
Looks like it would have been a lot quicker to just make a really big cup as a basket!
You should train your dog to find blueberries and bark when she finds them Lol!
You could have used your hat to put blueberries in. 😊😎
MMMMMMMMMMMM..love me some blueberries.
A tree surgeon will know what it does to a tree. Thanks for your response. Regards

May I ask what kind of knife is best?
Any knife will do! Just pick one you like and fits your needs. I like high carbon steel knives because they sharpen easier, but will also dull easier too. Mora makes great, cheap knives too. Check em out!
Yea only killed one tree. Big of you.
Not even. You should read my previous comments about this. You have no idea what you're talking about.
@5:40 " what you're gonna do is cut yourself..." yup. I can do that. LOL
Brooke, what happens while Ur picking all them lucious blueberries and U wake up Mr or Ms Bigfoot??
Silly Girl, I envy your husband !!!
That poor man... :)
Don't underestimate your worth !!!
Lassie!
You shouldn't tease with your wild blueberry bush & you murdered that poor tree!
(I guess i can still watch though)
The tree is fine- read all my other comments. I have lots of experience with this.... this tree will be, and is, just fine.
Thank you for commenting back.
I thought as much. You don't seem to be the type to needlessly kill even a tree.
Fun tube!
Origami with bark.
Amazing women!
Pergaminho Vegetal!
Where is the champagne?
Could have used your hat and scarf! Take care! Buz
Not very believable! Just happen to go for walk, with only your knife, come across a huge blue berry patch, oh I'm sure you knew they were there, then you drink from a small stream that you "Assume is pure. Then you come up with whipcream...........
HA! Well it's where I live. I know where these things are. And I know where the whip cream is too!
I love you, but that is what hats are for...
Yep...a blue top on your hat might be embarrassing...
I just thought of something...line it with birch bark...
Then you would have a heat stroke...
:-)
At last ! A real woman !
I'm going to try some baskets this spring. I'm practicing on paper and w poster paper to get a feel.
Die birch !!
Nope- this method doesn't kill trees. You only kill them if you go into the cambium layer. thanks for watching!
You have just kiled the tree, not good.
No I didn't. You don't kill them unless you get into the cambium layer. I've lived in Alaska nearly my entire adult life. I've seen trees stand for decades that have had bark removed in places. Experience is the real test for the truth.

Lol.😉 you are so bad Brooke.
Haha I'm a dork
