I cried tears today. The reason I cried was to see the end of era of a powerhouse, a force to be reckoned with. All these years we have watched competitive tennis in women tennis but it was the serena Williams that if she is playing you are on the edge of your seat. I remember in 2010 Australian open final between serena William's and Justine Henin. It was intense I cant say enough when it's time to go, its time to go. I wish it was reversible but I can only wish her the best in life

Good luck to Serena in whatever she decides to do. But, have people forgotten that German great Steffi Graff won 22 majors( 1 behind Serena) when she was ONLY 29? She retired at 30. Also, Margaret Court did finish with 24 major titles. Looks to me that people tend to forget history if it's over 20 years.

American commentators thought Serena was going to go deep in the tournament cause she defeated the "2nd best player(Kontaveit) in the World" on Wednesday. Kontaveit got knocked out in the 1st and 2nd Round in all the Slams she played this year and hasn't won a single tournament. She's only 14th with 1960 Points this year.
Funny because I read several comments from Serena fans that beating number 2 means Serena will win the tournament! Ranking doesn’t matter when you’re a pro. These Serena fans over do it sometimes.
They probably fell for the Big Apple hoopla and hype. Seeding and ranking aren't always the same. Serena hasn't won a Slam in years and hadn't played much in the last 18 months. Remember also that Tomljanovic who beat her in the third round is currently ranked in the 40s.
@@taoist32 Coco Gauff and Halep have been playing way better this year than Kontaveit. This year Kontaveit is 15th with 1912 points. Halep and Coco Gauff around 2700. The reason Kontaveit is ranked 2nd is because of the points she got in 2021 which carried over to 2022.

I remembered when they played with Jennifer Capriati and was cheated by the umpire....I knew Serena won that game and for me she is the G.O.A.T
Great player no doubt. Best female player maybe, but not the most in majors. The media and fans can say all they want, but she didn't overtake Court's tally (24). Don't care about era or level of competition, the tally speaks for itself. Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic showed why the men's game is many levels above the women's game, which benefits more from the outfits and looks.
You can't force the GOAT on Court. To put it in simple terms, Court's 13 tons of bronze plus 11tons of gold (i.e 24 GS) and Serena's 23 tons of gold, this is what we call density according to Archimedes. Therefore, 24 is not always greater than 23. It's not always all about quantity, but quality. In this case 23 GS can be > 24 GS.
