Oooh, that sounds dangerous... living next to a camera shop! I'd probably end up living even closer to it... but broke and sleeping in a tent in the alley behind it!
Lol. Yep, it’s a danger! It is pretty nice being able to go see what’s new once and awhile without spending, but not easy! Cool seeing you here, as usual Brian!
I have to look into the Deadcat mic. You can't hear a whisper of wind. Love this episode, it was so you! Some history, camera gear and good music! Keep them coming. 🤩
Haha! Thanks for the kind words there😊! The deadcat is just the little furry thing that goes over the mic, but I cheated and used AI voice isolation in my video editor (Da Vinci Resolve). The mic is the Hollyland Lark M2, and it also has it's own built in noise reduction l, but I don't really use it👀.
I will primarily be shooting at the widest end anyway, but the flexibility of zoom and autofocus is appealing. However, I cannot compromise on image quality at the ultra-wide end. So, for someone who will be shooting at the widest end, which option is better? The ultra-wide prime candidates are the Nisi 9mm and Laowa 9mm (I haven't made a decision yet). How do these ultra-wide angle primes compare with Sigma's 10mm wide end in terms of sharpness and optical performance?
I can speak to the Laowa's quality. It's very good, but imperceptibly to the Sigma with corrections turned on. I can't tell the difference with what I've now shot with both lenses. Another advantage to the Sigma (aside from zoom and AF) is that if you also have a full-frame camera, it will cover the full frame image circle once zoomed to 12mm and beyond.

Oh god, Toronto.... the city with ZERO foresight.
Like every big city it's not perfect, but it's home lol!
