Loved it, hope you have more like this. Nothing beats looking back at the way things were when I was 16 and comparing it to how it looks nowadays, great stuff mate.
The year I started senior school.. I was 11 years old but I feel lucky to have grown up in the 1980"s and 90"s compared to what the kids have to deal with today.

8.31 minutes, D-Shake - Yaaah. Remember driving about like this, more in Ruggie and Toryglen though, listening to the same tunes, then heading to Tin Pan and the Subbie at the weekend. As you say, "smile on yer face and a tear in yer eye at the same time". Good times.
I think I see old Hagill here - on the left side before you reach "The Jigging" - looks like the area around Corsock and Appin street before it was knocked down.
My Dad worked at Firth Brown at the forge. I remember scenes of unimaginable deprivation in the surrounding areas - this was in the late 70s to mid 80s.
Guy at the end ... Was up the Mardi Gras the night before getting "full o it" .. I coulda been there that night myself . Those were the days my friend, I thought they'd never end.

I worked there in 1990 when Asda was Gateway. Half of Carntyne worked in it. Remember the manager pulled up some of the young guys and after his shift he went out to his car which had a brick through the front windae
Duke Street before it was ruined, the old butcher's and flats at corner that got pulled down at Whitehill street. Coia's bought the land then built those new flats and their restaurant. Remember Coias was at top of Millerston st and Duke St across from station. An old friend talking about the Mardi Gras, saw him recently he's doing well for himself
@@GIRO He's doing great and got his own landscaping / gardening business going which is doing well as he's got good few vans and workers on the go. I know these areas well but just wondering if you have any footage from places like Kirkintilloch, Bishopbriggs, Lenzie etc as alot of changes in some of those places especially Kirkintilloch main street?
The band Scheme was from Cranhill. My brother toured with them around Europe. The lead singer Robert was still doing songs in pubs in the city centre around 2010. I met him in the lamp post on the high street. That pub is gone now. I used to have a cassette tape of all their songs that my brother gave me but i gave it to another brother years ago and never got it back. The song they did in the 1980s that goes something like "another 5yrs you have f#$ked it up again" was my favourite at the time. It was about Maggie Thatcher 🤣
