When the Crips and Bloods started to migrate to New Orleans they were not successful. I remember seeing them here and there in the 80s early 90s but N.O. don’t politic like that and we was never followers. The Crips and Bloods was successful in North Louisiana like Shreveport. The interviewer keeps pushing that because Birdman wants to claim it because it the trend. You never heard anyone telling their stories whereas they mention Crip or Blood sets. Another example Master P got his start in Cali and did business in LA yet he never tried to claim a set. Anybody who spent time in New Orleans will tell you we got our own thing fr.

People do not know that people from the west coast that started crips/bloods came from the south/east due to moving, migration and end of slavery, etc. So they have a lot of family still in those places to easily spread banging. A couple things happened that had people from New Orleans repping bloods. One is when Lil Wayne started claiming it. He was on fire at that time and some people who were huge fans of his were following his lead. Another thing is Katrina hit and people migrated to cities that had bloods and crips. Some people adopted it from that but older people from New Orleans who grew up in the 80s and 90s looked at people from New Orleans repping blood as phony. I'm not saying dudes who was on that wasn't living like that but it wasn't New Orleans identity. I knew a lil young dude from out the east who was on that but me and another older dude respectfully explained to him why we thought it was a bad look. I knew a handful of dudes around my age who repped blood but they actually got put on that when they spent time out of town. I have a theory on the whole promotion of the gang culture. I think it makes it easier for law enforcement to hit dudes with indictments and RICO charges.
