    The era of traditional photo editing is coming to an end, and I have mixed feelings of fear and excitement about the advancements in AI technology. There's news from Adobe that in the near future, they will release an update enabling realistic composites with shadows and lighting by simply copying and pasting. This means anyone can create high-quality complex composites with just one click, without needing any editing skills.

    • @VerticDesigns
      @VerticDesigns Год назад +2

      I know exactly how you feel, it's definitely a roller-coaster of mixed emotions because in many ways it's bringing so many amazing opportunities but at the same time it's also nuking a lot of careers and peoples livelihoods who have gained knowledge and experience over the many years. It's just crazy how quick everything is advancing and changing but just like everything else in life the end of something is also a start for new opportunities and jobs like Ai Mangers, Ai Prompt Experts and Ai Programmers. Only thing that terrifies me is if Ai eventually advances it's self-consciousness and awareness to the point where it's had enough of doing other peoples work and start some sort of a revolution haha because at that point we'll all just be in their way

    • @TerzicGamingRoom

      But you'll always have to pay a subscription to the service, right? Now at least when they say, it's one click for you, or five minutes, I don't care anymore. It's expensive for them to pay adobe monthly anyway, so it's easier when they need to call once a year, and the speed of my response is exactly that one click lol. Now the client base can be much larger.

    I don't believe that we're gonna lose our jobs, like some people fear. We don't need to worry so much. The repertory and our menu of options are gonna widen but there's plenty of room for talent. What will happen is that the contrast between talent and non-talent will increase. Let me take a huge risk on a sensitive topic: music. Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Cubase, FL Studio, Sound Forge, etc. Lots and lots of amazing studio editors at the tip of our hands, and yet, groups like Queen, The Beatles, and most 70s, and 80s music hasn't been replaced. Sorry to hurt feeling but see how much horrible music is released nowadays, with some exceptions of course. AI is not gonna make a huge difference. A person with no skill, visual logic, understanding of elements like composition, lighting, color, artistic vision, etc, will not be able to go too far. Effort will be needed, practice will be needed, talent will be needed. If someone's artistic taste s*cks, AI will only make it more evident. I'm an architect. Ask me how many horrendous designs I see every day on Instagram by people who have no idea of what they're doing (as well as very nice works too, of course). We're still here, we're important. Don't get discouraged by AI. AI is going to potentiate designers skills. We will be able to work better, faster and more efficiently.

    AI may be fun and quick for some "photographers" but it won't give you what you want. You'd still need to edit it manually and with your personal touch. I don't think it's dead for retouchers. Retouchers are still much needed because not everyone has the skills/knowledge for these type of creativity.

Like overcharging people and saying they own pictures of their clients. Charging 30+ dollars for one photo, after a client pays out of their ass for a portrait package. I am so excited that I will go after more clients and not overcharge them for silly things. I wanted to support a local artist and she charged 250 dollars just because she says she's an artist. It didn't go towards and portraits or anything else. What a mess. This will also change the education in photography. We won't have to spend hundreds and thousands for products without an education. This is great news.

      Lmao. If you can't find a way to make this work for you, that's on you. For me it's going to save me countless hours of having to find a good brush pack, texture pack, photo element for an image, mockup packs, now I can generate whatever I want tailored to how I want it to look, this has already turned my product lookbooks from already pretty good, to absolutely mindblowing, and saves me probably on average around 2 hours per page. For example one page I had of a beach scene and placed a photo I took of a quilted pillow, the designs on the quilted pillow were for a summery beach vibe. Previously I would have to look through my organised folders of .nef files I've taken over the years for a relatively good sand photo, then I wanted a shoreline at the top of the image and seashells dotted around the page. I no longer have to find the image for the sand or the image for the foamy shoreline, or images of seashells and then spend time applying them to the page and creating realistic shadows & lighting. Now I take the product photos I already have on a white background, generate the sand background, generate the foam shoreline at the top, generate the seashells, it's allowed me to translate the design ideas from my head onto the canvas with in an instant, instead of having to mess around with having to source images to composite, which can range from tedious to expensive. This is going to speed up every creatives workflow, and honestly probably remove a lot of revenue from stock websites, outside of human portraits.

Hours upon hours of time wasted with making selections, trying to adapt lighting, etc etc. So now you can do it quickly. That’s awesome. All the time saved is amazing. I can get so much more work done quickly now, leaving me more time to do the things I want to do. And if you want to keep doing it the old way, guess what, you still can. People choose whether to have a positive or negative attitude about change. Be miserable if that’s what floats your boat, but plenty of people have spent the same amount of time and effort to learn to do this as you have, and are happy to have a way to save so much time now.

    The REAL differentiating factor between just OK, good and best will ALWAYS be true artistic talent.
    Not whether you can do tedious grunt work, manual labor to get there. You'll never get rich digging a ditch.

Perhaps in another decade , but then the print quality might have increased to 32k , 64k and so on , the chase never stop . There is a reason why they are limiting it to 1080p now . Nobody in the professional industry is asking for 1080p . Even those casual promo poster you saw from Netflix , they would ask for 8-16k version .

      @@MsNellyuan I've been working in photoshop 40 hours per week for 30 years, the program didn't even have layers when I started using it in 1990. This advancement of AI in photoshop is bigger than anything the program has ever seen... by a long shot, it's not even close. It is in it's absolute infancy with a rate of development that will be unprecedented. The majority of images and files being used commercially are not 16K or 32K, that is a niche. There are thousands of photoshop tutorials on youtube teaching techniques, I don't recall very many talking about working with 32K images. Remember dialup internet, or using photoshop on a Macintosh Quadra 700 with a 25 MHz processor, 4 MB of RAM, with a 1.44 MB floppy disk drive? I remember running a gaussian blur on a 65mb photoshop image and just walking away from the computer for 40 minutes to see the result.
      The technology will easily find a way around any limits of bandwidth through algorithms much in the same way that LZW compression works. MMPHOTOANDVIDEO's comment is spot on, designers and graphic artists will be out of work. The BBC recently did a piece on AI and pointed out the first jobs to be replaced will be graphic and visual artists, this is a fact. You simply won't need them to process and complete complex tasks because highly skilled people will no longer be needed to complete them, and the time taken will now take minutes not hours. Adobe hit a homerun for sales here, ordinarily the only folks buying photoshop were limited to professional designers and graphic artists. Now anyone can create complex composites, extend backgrounds and make edits with almost zero understanding of layers, masking, channels, paths, etc. A whole new clientele of buyers are available to them now.
