After Pep it can only be Unai Emery as the next best manager with 11 major trophies too his name including 4 Europa leagues & 8 European semi finals heading into his 17th season in a row managing in Europe at multiple clubs in different countries, has taken Villa from 17th to 4th & champions league football in 18 months. Incredible!! 😊
What Emery has done in 18 months at my club Villa is nothing short of a minor miracle, I was getting laughed at last season betting on Villa getting into the top 4 but I collected my winnings

Lopetegui, has won the Europa League and has 3 4th place finishes in La Liga with Sevilla, he also has 2x top 3 finishes in Portugal, I would say on CY he probably ranks higher than the likes of Slot and Howe.
Good arguments and can't argue with any of your placings. Would be interesting to revisit this at the end of the season and compare the rankings. I will be especially delighted if manager No. 17 finishes 17th or higher. 😉
Must be Unai Emery he improves good players into world beaters look at Martinez and Luis.Pep has had an easier ride with him managing the biggest clubs in football with unlimited resources Long may he reign at my club The Villa
I think Nuno is fair enough. But I think he now has to improve Forest this season. He has the nucleus of a decent team, dependent, of course, on the ins and outs in this window. He came into an incredibly difficult situation, the first time he’d ever taken a club over mid season. Much as I love Steve Cooper, I think Nuno had the potential to take us further.
Nuno’s advantage is that Marikanis has stopped buying players in multiples of 5. Cooper only found out about Montiel and Santos when he met them on the training ground.
Pep is number one with an asterisk, (115). Also, there is an argument he’s a tap in merchant since he always manages the best and richest club in whatever league he’s in. HOWEVER, the way his teams play, the way he selects players, builds, recycles and motivates his teams for longevity, (like Ferguson), plus the success he’s achieved and the influence he has had on football is undeniable. It’s therefore almost impossible to argue that he’s not number one, I just don’t have him as far clear as Mr Bloom as there’s no evidence he can drastically improve players or make a team better than the sun of it’s parts like Emery has.
Not denying Pep his place at the top but wherever he's managed he's had the resources to blow 90% of his opponents out of the water, not saying its easy as many have failed when they've been in similar positions but I'd love to see what he could do further down the food chain.
With the exception of Guardiola, it's difficult to compile an actual ranking list. It's much easier to put managers in clusters. As an Ipswich fan I can't believe I'm writing this but I actually thought McKenna would be lower. There are also some extra variables we can consider. For example Thomas Frank at Brentford. The club doesn't have the resources of the likes of Manchester City but has now become a stable Premier League club that's likely to finish mid-table. Have to admit to being surprised at Sean Dyche being ranked so high but as you explained, he's got an impress record in the PL. He's a bit like the PL's answer to Neil Warnock
I'd say that's pretty spot on, I think Glasner is a bit low, even if he was hired this Summer and didn't have that great run with Palace at the end of the season I'd put him above Lopetegui for sure and probably also Nuno (although that comparison is a bit more tight). His job at Frankfurt was impressive.
I think that is a pretty good list if you base it on your criteria. Yes I'd like to see Iriola rated higher but he's won nothing. For those saying that pep isn't the best, the truth is that the best managers get recruited by the people with money but at the same time they have to deliver.❤
I would like to say "Oh! It's a joke that you've got this Maager here" but your list is very accurate,my friend and I am in my 8th decade and been attending for over 60+ years:)
Super list Ben. I think that it all comes down to the criteria that you choose. As an Ioswich fan I'd say that on what you do with the resources available to you and as a LMA manager of the year McKenna could end up a top 5 if not top 10.
Kieron McKenna is a wonderful manager and I would not swap him for any other manager but we are new to the premier league with the exception of 23 years ago so better to give him a low rating and let’s just wait and see what happens
@@ziudra91 I think it’s too simplistic to judge a manager of a club with Luton’s resources at Premier League level purely on the binary or relegated vs not relegated

There has never been a circumstance for Pep to demonstrate he can drastically improve players or make a team significantly better than this sum of its parts like Emery has done.
Ben, you can’t put a managerial team that has broken fair-play protocols over a managerial that has abided with it. Man City has at least 115 charges against and because they are state owned by one of the cash rich countries of the world get away with their model because of their financial magnitude over anybody else.
Great list! I think there are a few contradictions here - rating some managers on experience/success/consistency and some managers on form/style/recent performances. I'd argue Gary O'Neil's job of finishing 15th with Bournemouth and 14th with Wolves isn't quite as impressive as Iraola's promotion and 11th place finishes with Rayo Vallecano, as well as his cup semi-finals with small teams like Vallecano and CD Mirandes, and then a club record points tally with Bournemouth in his first season. Iraola hasn't been rewarded in this for consistency over his career like Dyche, Espirito Santo, Silva or even Thomas Frank. Glasner should be higher I think given his success with Frankfurt, and Lopetegui lower - despite the clubs he's managed, he's never seemed quite comfortable in any of his managerial positions. I think he was put in that position in the list because he won a top-level trophy - but Dyche hasn't and he ranks significantly higher. Kieran McKenna is also a spectacular manager, and his lack of Premier League experience is keeping him down - while Slot and ten Hag (the latter's Prem experience detracts from his prowess in my opinion, despite the FA and EFL Cups) are ranked right up at the top.
@@BenjaminBloom Everything points to him being in for the long haul at Villa. Not many managers have everything they want in place at their club, with the best owners you could wish for.
Brighton’s new manager Hurzuler plays some really interesting and insanely weird tactics, I’m exited for what will happen in the prem. Watched the James Lawrence Alcott video and the guy literally doesn’t even play with a midfield😂 Think particularly a Spurs Brighton game could look really weird like the Chelsea Spurs game last season.
