Elmer, in your post you mentioned the "Ukrainian Efim Schachmeister". I would point out that another name you mentioned also has a Ukrainian connection. Although he was born of mixed parentage with one of his parents Hungarian, Dajos Bela [Leon Golzmann], who probably made as many recordings as anyone in this era, was born right here in Kyiv. Also, I am glad to say that he was one of those Jews who escaped the Nazi's and ended his life peacefully in Argentina, not in Auschwitz.
