Hey, as a software developer, can I give you some suggestions for your app? 1- In the example sentences, link the difficult words (such as endurance) to its definition. Can be a dictionary inside the app or an external source, like a website (you tap on it and see the meaning without leaving the app) 2- In one of the words, he gave an accurate definition, but the app showed a different one, for a different context, so maybe find a way to add all the possible definitions, or at least explain to the user that the one provided is just one from multiple possibilities. This way the user does not get confused nor feel uncomfortable by being wrong, even after giving a right definition Thanks for your content.
Hey Phillip, Thanks for sharing your suggestion! Hey, we would really appreciate if you could write us an email at appfeedback@reallifeglobal. We would love to hear more about this and any other suggestion of features and improvements you have! Looking forward to hearing from you!
You say "Some time later I already learnt the word" but there is something on my mind: Is learning a word and using it in daily life the same thing? I think it's different cos sometimes I can't use the words I learned. This requires a lot of practice, I guess
Hi! Thanks for your question. I guess you are referring to active and passive vocabulary. So yes, you can learn the word and you can know it but not use it - that means it is in your passive vocabulary. You might wanna listen to this podcast as well ruclips.net/video/VVT_47rWFBE/видео.htmlsi=BhbKAcpM2iQs8arp
Well, regarding space repetition, when using your app in my case "Practice" is working differently: I receive the definition and I am asked the word... in other words it works the other way around: I receive the definition with the image and I am asked for the associated word. It's normal? Or is the app not working properly?
Hey Alessandro, thanks for writing. We brought a new flashcard practice format in our latest updates. So there are 2 types of flashcards now - active and passive. All our lessons had "active" type of flashcards where students had to guess the word from the definition. Some of our students reported that it was too challenging for them, so we decided to try out the "passive" type - where you see the word first, and then you read the definition. After experiencing both, which type do you prefer? It would be really nice to hear your opinion!
Thanks for your quick response! I find active flashcards rather difficult, although certainly useful in the long run; passive flashcards have the advantage of being easier when studying on the go or when time is short. An excellent solution could be the possibility of choosing to train with both types of flashcards. I think this is a viable option, as the underlying database should be the same. Thanks again for your attention and support! @@RealLifeEnglish1
İn my opinion spaced repetition isnt enough. you must use vocabulary which you learn. First step you must use in sentence then you must do spaced repetition. I m saying that because I had experienced. Both of them compulsory not a option. 😌😌
Hey ebahahmednah, thanks for writing! It's pretty easy - you just need to press at the word you want to get a definition! If you have any other doubts or need further help, write us at appfeedback@reallifeglobal.com - we will be happy to help!
