John Today I went Tog fishing utilizing all I have learned from your videos. Found my own piece of structure and managed to catch a dozen or so Tog including a personal best 4.5 pounder. Pic is my RUclips profile pic. Thanks for all you have taught with Tog, fluke, sea bass etc. Being my second year of salt water fishing, I am so much more knowledgeable thanks to you. Mike
That was some really exciting fishing. I feel Soooooooo Bad for you catching so many fish. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us. No nonsense, no bragging, no filthy mouth - just great fishing.
Hey John, if you are fishing an area that is new to you, what kind of structure do you look for as a place to start? If you ever want to start a "New to me" series fishing from subscriber locations, let me know and come on down to the NJ Great Bay.
I am always amazed when John is fishing either from the beach or in his boat there never seems to be anyone else around were he is fishing!! Why is that? I enjoy all his videos regardless.
Way to go john. Had a great day on the water toggin LIS CT side today. Had a few visits from little tunny, but with anchor down, fell just short of casting range. Thanks for the content!
You looked different in this video, more relaxed. A beautiful day that's for sure, hardly any wind, i guess you don't have a jog puck, a heading puck installed. I have one on my OT, but have never used it, i haven't used the kayak at all, too busy. Nice fish, I thought i saw ripples in the distance with birds. Good hookups and fights who could ask for more.
I'm not much of a bottom fisher, but decided to take a go at some tog this year. I was hooked from the first one. Caught a 22" the other day and man are they fun fishing!
I’m still in the middle of this - I love it. It’s so funny cause it’s like you’re soo humble. Like my ol man. Another words - you hold the NYS record for the biggest albie here you are just like chillin - it’s soo cool. I was able to retrieve one of my dads favorite plugs this morning that was cool. That was the best catch of the day. My bad for interrupting, I had to give credit 🙏💯
Lmao, my focus was on the Minn Kota... it looked like it was adjusting to fight the albi 😂👍. I definitely want to get one of these kayak set ups in my life in the near future. It just seems so peaceful and an amplifier to the fun to be had.
Hi John. My apologies if this has been asked before. After your jig got cut off. What knot do you use to tie the jig to the leader for blackfish? Thank you, your videos are always informative. I appreciate the live monologue as well.
Not sure you see or respond to comments on older videos but I do have a question on the blackish reel I see it's a 2000 size reel but when I went to the line it shows 30lb. Not sure that's the actual braid strength your using, some how I figured it would be 29lb or less. Thanks
Johnny that was awesome!!!! I never caught a Albie- what do I look for. Based out of the Jones inlet …. ? I keep going to the honeyholes but I want to change it up. Do I walk all the way to the end at west end ? Any how another awesome video- 🤝🤙🏻💯
Actually I just got my tsunami slim wave I’m just curious about something how come you see some slim waves with a black logo and you see some slim waves like mine and yours of a blue logo ?
Actually my tsunami slime wave just came today I got the 6/4 medium heavy just like yours I can’t wait to use it I’m just curious about something how com you see some tsunami slime waves with a blue logo like mine and yours ? But then you see some with a black logo ?
If you guys want cheap stop bitching and pour your own. All you have to do is buy a lead pot, molds, hooks, powder paint and acquire lead. It’s that easy. If you want to make some money you can probably sell them for $3.99 a piece and be millionaires.
@@chrisevans7802 who said cheap.. we said less expensive. Your a typical small [tiny wenie] person. Never wrong. Have 2 friends, the rest talk about you behind ur back. We call it 5 or 6 inch syndrome. It's ok. But ur stuck with it.. easy call.
@@lilygrahamcakes4199 agreed. The kids that work there are really disrespectful. I used to go out of my way to shop there, not anymore. Feels like a frat house more than a tackle shop. Plenty of smaller shops with competitive pricing and actual helpful, friendly staff.
Ahhhh, the first world problems we fishermen and women have to deal with!! Damn those Minn Kota's!! Great video Skinner. Question, why the Berkley braid over PowerPro?
Is anyone realistically fishing these jigs from shore in structure? Any decent fish 18+ inches just breaks off with the light line and leader. Way better results with sinker and single hook on heavy leader
I see many people doing it. Try it with 20# main line and 30# leader and you'll see. Here's a video. ruclips.net/video/bV6uXRk-Uus/видео.html When you hook a fish it's just you and the fish without the sinker hanging down to get caught on stuff. ruclips.net/video/bV6uXRk-Uus/видео.html

Love hearing the reel sing
That first albie hit was sick
Wow. Great action. It doesn’t get much better than that. Blackfish are the best combination of fight and food

You had a great day!! A fisherman dream.
Nothing better than the sound of a fish peeling line.
Love that kayak John, it really is made for days like this one! great video again.

I try to avoid crowded areas, although it's not always possible.
Way to go John! Lots of quality fish! Excited to get out Sunday!
Those Albies pack a wallop!

Nice video John. I live in RI and the tog bite has been red hot. Still searching for my first albie though. I just need more time on on the water.
HOLY COW (phil rozzuto) was that a crazy ALBIE hit right by the yak!! John my buddy Manolis from greenport says hi.....
Such a cool fish! Nice catch, John
I'm not much of a bottom fisher, but decided to take a go at some tog this year. I was hooked from the first one. Caught a 22" the other day and man are they fun fishing!
Pound for pound, the best fighter of all inshore species.
Great video as usual! Drag ripping all day.!!!
Man those albies look fun!
You’re a legend John
Wow 300 from shore in 2017? I'm happy with 5-10 a season lol and maybe even less depending how difficult the season is. Awesome footage of takes!
another great intro, fun to watch. nice boat.
a little tip, order a replacement connector for the trolling motor, male and female ends. prone to breaking
Thanks for that!

love the vids helped me alot this season tight lines!!!!
Wow that drag was screaming
Hi John. I was wondering where you bought your kayak.
John your program is excellent and your information you share is outstanding.
Please ware a life vest
I wonder how bad False Albacore toast cheap reels. Man those things pull drag.

Thanks for another great video. Happy fall everyone.
That looks fun!

The blackfish rod has an evict 2000 with 15# braid.
I was out at Norwalk fishing for blackfish today and albies pooped up
Enjoyed the video John. Do you have any recipes for blackfish? and how do you like the new Penn Clash 2?
The Penn Clash 2 is excellent. I usually just broil the blackfish. Nothing special.
May I know the location of the beach you are fishing close too? Thanks.
i love you Jonh SKinner Fishing
Is that the same infamous rock you had those videos at last season?
Hello John, I am wondering why you do not bleed them on a stringer before icing them in the bag?
That would be better, but this is easier, until I have to clean out the cooler bag.
John can you please use the penn battalion

Where do you launch the kayak out of? looking to get one. thanks!
The spot lock takes half the fun out of hooking up with an albie in a little kayak! lol
I should have turned it off on the first one. It was off on the second.
Actually I just got my tsunami slim wave I’m just curious about something how come you see some slim waves with a black logo and you see some slim waves like mine and yours of a blue logo ?
I see you are using the Carbon Shield ll but what size is it and with what reel? Nice job and thanks!
There are links to the exact gear in the video description.

Hey john, what size is the penn clash
On the albie reel ?
Why do you prefer spinning gear for Tog?
John do you remember the water temp that trip ?
69
So green crab got the bigger tog in this trip? Also notice you put several Asian crabs on instead of single one, would that get the bigger tog?
Yes and I always put at least 2 asians on. More if they're very small.
@@JohnSkinnerFishing : thanks John, will try that trick next time.
Now you said the limit is 3. Is that per species or all together
3 blackfish.
Can you fish all day for blackfish
How do you find spots to avoid the porgies? Trial and error?
They don't bother the crabs too bad usually. I caught 1 today, but just looked at underwater video and there were many down there.
John how fast of a current does the spot lock hold in the yak?
Probably close to 4mph, since that's how fast is goes on still water. Realistically half that to have enough battery life.
@@JohnSkinnerFishing Thank you for the reply!
Yea I got a 5 pound sea bass in that same spot with same rig lol
Tell j&h to sell your jigs in bulk and less expensive!
Yeah these jigs are getting way too expensive, they love to profit $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
YES... J&H getting quite pricy. I been finding stuff online, for 40% less. J&H also seem to talk down to the little guy (not spending 100s)

Will you be showing a new video with your regular fishing buddies doing some blackfishing???
When it gets colder.
@@JohnSkinnerFishing Looking forward to that Mr. Skinner.
As usual stunning 😃😃
John how many oz jig do you recommend for black fishing from party boats ? I never caught blackfish on jigs.
I believe he would tell you…as light as you can go without scoping out….
Depends on depth and current. If it's really deep and fast it won't work.
Go search for a guy on RUclips who fished jig on party boat in Jersey, he often tie two jigs hi-lo.
Don't go any higher than 1.5 oz..... just not worth it imo.
Thank you so much everyone. Much appreciated. I have jigs between 1oz and 2 oz I usually carry hi-lo rigs as well. Hoping for the best 😊
300 hundred from shore incredible i catch 1 or 2 and im done lol
What kind of crab do you use?
Green
So cool
Do you not use a leader for togs?
30# seaguar, about 40 inches.
Great video! Which model old town kayak is that?
Autopilot Sportsman 120. There's a link in the video description. It's awesome.
Thank you, John. I appreciate it!
Great video John
What rod is that white one?
Tsunami Slimwave. There's a link in the video description.
Where is this located ?
Eastern Long Island Sound, NY.
4:25-5:00 is the creepiest sexual language John has ever displayed in a fishing video
Bruh 😭
Ahhhh, the first world problems we fishermen and women have to deal with!! Damn those Minn Kota's!! Great video Skinner. Question, why the Berkley braid over PowerPro?
X9 is very thin, smooth, and strong. Power Pro Super Slick is good too.
@@JohnSkinnerFishing thank you. Sometimes (understatement) I’m reluctant to change. I’m gonna give PP Super Slick a shot.
Its the same rock. Year after year 🤔
I’m still waiting for my slim wave I. The mail
Can you catch green crabs
You need crab traps for those.
nice tog
