- Опубликовано: 8 фев 2025
- We're back in our happy place which is fabricating. We have lots on the go here at the shop today, we unloaded the VW Thing off the Bronco chassis so that we can start repairing the car trailer that's in need of some TLC. But the main thing we need to fabricate are the motor mounts for the 351 Windsor engine that will be going in the 1958 Ford Thunderbird 🛠

I've been reading a book about Attention Deficit Disordet. I'm not a doctor, but it seems to fit Chad to a T. Very talented on subjects that interest him, rarely finishes projects, strong sense of right and wrong, becomes fixated on perceived slights or unfairness. Good news is it is treatable. Not picking on you, brother. Just offering an observation. I seem to have the same disorder.🎉
i agree
Yes show some love and support to all the people that are or have been affected by the FIRES. Good to see you back in the shop bad Chad and Jolene,, you didn't have much luck with purchasing vehicles lately. It does not matter what province you had bad dealings in. There are good people in every province and there are some shady people in every province,, countries as well,, as far as that goes. More Due diligence and caution is needed next time.
Glad to see you in your element back home and on your game! Love your vids both the content of your craftsmanship and Jolene’s expertise in taking them. Stay true to your selves and keep on rockin!
Best show in a while back in the shop no one to get you off your game. Stick to what you were born to do. Great video work by Jolene as usual 👍.
Good to see you back in the shop doing what you do best. The trailer framing looks like what is put under house trailers, some of the thin frames were just there to keep the floor from bouncing. As a suggestion, check out a local saw mill, its usually cheaper that the big box outlets, and you can get full 2" X 10" rough sawn that's stronger than the usual factory crap. I'll be looking for you tomorrow.
Can't wait to see what you're doing with the VW Thing. Hope it'll be a BadASS 4X4. Good to see y'all are repairing and upgrading the car trailer. It really needed it. With a few tweaks, it'll be a really good efficient trailer. Good luck!
Set yourself up a sturdy vise table central to where you are working. You can use it to help hold your steel pieces that you are grinding and welding.
I like the badass rare earth magnet method better. 200-300 lb. rare earth magnet behind a scrap piece of steel, great for cutting and welding. Won’t budge until you budge it. As long as you don’t get the metal up to forging temperatures because metal that hot looses magnetic properties.
Just a habit of mine and a suggestion to you Chad, clean your rusty metal with the flapper wheel before cutting pieces off, it's safer and easier to hold the large piece, rather than holding the small pieces and risk having them fling out of our hand and hit someone or something. Jus'sayin, oh and keep the great content coming. I fabricate on cars daily and will still come in, sit down and watch what project you have going. A big thanks to Jolene for the camera work.😎✌
We welded a 1/8" angle on the back out then turned up for the ramps on my brothers trailer.. and 2x10 decking that we dried soak with used oil to treat it.
Chaddy…..solid wire weld push forward……you must have very clean steel when MIG WELDING….the old saying is…if there is slag you drag…..no slag you push the gas helps clean the steel forward of the weld…just a few hints from an old welder…..Steve
Evening folks you got lots on the go today, be safe, have a great day, amazing job on the video Jolene 👍
Bad Chad N Clean Joline back in their elements....
And it's good to hear a shout out to Halfass Garage....I watch both of your channels ...
Been a fan of both for a while now 👍👍👍
You keep doing you...
Much love ❤️ 😊
Great job on the motor mounts. Glad to see the trailer getting some upgrades as well. I would hope you get some better ramps that can be secured to the trailer when loading or unloading. Jolene always spot on with the camera.
A new project series that will get the T-bird done. Fixing the trailer will be a good thing too Chad. Jolene is always amazingly good with the camera.
Big shout out to @HalfassKustoms who was affected by the fires happening right now. Show some love and thank you @BadChad for mentioning it!
Glad to see you back to work doing what you love todo. Hi Jolene you are doing amazing job with the camera. God bless you and Chad and have a blessed evening and night
Good to see you back in the shop doing what you love, and I enjoy watching you do the fab work, the type 181 (Thing) is going to be a good project, I have a replica of a Type 82 I restored, will try and send photos. Jolene's film work is the bomb!
Wow lots going on right now,,I’m luvin it,,busy busy,,good on the trailer repair,,an the motor mounts are looking great,,the ( thing) looks better already just being cleaned up,,it’s good to see fina running around agian,,hi to sweet Jolene an hi to Doug,,luv you guys,,👍👍😀
Like your work bench, like you mentioned can’t get any closer to the floor than that😊,must have a chiropractor
On the shifter, you would need to make a linkage so that the new shifter has a new pivot back further, and a second link back to the original shifter location. Just like carb linkage, etc... Looking forward to seeing it!
Chad you make motor mount building look so easy,an angle grinder is a handy tool if you are not afraid to use it, they scare the hell out of me, Jolean get up and close to the sparks and shows no fear
So good to have you back in the shop doing what you are so good at!
Nice to see you Chad back in you happy place. Thanks Jolene for the video.
Back in your happy place! This is why I’m here everyday - watching and learning from you building! 👍🏻
Chad is a born artist, technician and instructor, Jolene is a born cinematographer, and the combination is seven days a week of RUclips gold for 251k subscribers!
Jolene I would like to ask a question ? You normally don't like people just showing up and I respect your privacy ! My question is when the big shop is full of cars could one make an appointment to view them ? It's not that we haven't seen most of them already but it's different when you see them in person . And boy the cars are WOW ! CHAD is a great artist with skills most people don't have I appreciate that . Oh and the question I'm not upset if it's a no . No worries guys I love this channel ! Chad does things that aren't the norm and I love his view point on how he will change the car to what he sees in it ! Thumbs-up Jolene and Chad and Doug newest member of TEAM HILTZ !
You can never please everyone. You will lose some veiwers because they are confused, but you will also gain veiwers out of respect for your honesty! I respect your reactions totally because i get it and I understand it and have been in that type of situation my self.
Hi Chad checker plate down both sides would give you more traction for tires to grip onto plus it’s not slippery when it’s wet and then board out the centre of the trailer I had that on mine and it worked great
Nice to see you all back in the shop doing what you do best !! great video work as usual Jolene..
Half ass customs burnt to the ground ! I heard of the fires in NS but I had no idea ! Condolences go out them ! Hopefully no one is injured ! Best wishes and prayers go out to them ! Nobody should lose everything they built up ! Thumbs-up guys at half-assed custom were hoping you'll be back stronger !
2018 9aradise camp fire,90% of my town got wiped out. the amount of vintage cars n motorcycles lost was astounding.
I would love to see the Thunderbird finished
He's started lots and hasn't finished a friggin thing in years. This guy has absolutely ZERO mechanical know how, and is a mediocre body fabricator at best. He's a car hoarder who rarely, (AND LOOK AT HIS VIDEOS) ever actually puts one of his "cars" on the road.
You won't
Would love to see any of them finished
OR THE BUGATTI
@@harmankardon478 nope
Glad to see you in your happy place 😊 although with Jolene close by your always in a happy place.
Hey Fina❣️
Use scaffolding planks on the trailer bed Chad they are good sturdy hard wearing wood and probably a lot cheaper in price. 👍
You can use all factory motor mounts no need to fabricate anything . Putting that engine in the TBird is a complete bolt in job .
Home Sweet Home
Great job guys 👍
Now I'm curious to see what you will do with the VW 😉
T bird gonna look nice going up the road (fellow maritime NB)❤ Have a great day everyone 👍😉
Glad to hear the fires haven't effected you yet Chad & Jolene. I mentioned it during the premier yesterday in the chat. I saw it on RT news, Nothing here in the US on our news, not like I watch any but still no reporting of it.
Good to see things back to normal.
This is why I watch BAD CHAD!! Your so natural. What a talent. Keep on fabricating.
I suggest you try to make sure that the hydraulic concentric slave cylinder is in very good condition. I had a Ford pickup truck and that slave cylinder started leaking and of course you have to pull the transmission to change it.
Remote pivot the shifter, there used to be a product available that had the pivot and rod for swapping the T5 into a vintage mustang. You could easily fabricate one, you just need to see it.
love you guys work...just want to say we have some aussies over there helping fight your fires....a few years ago some of yours came here to help us out....just saying
Glad to see you in your happy place I truly understand that. Hello from Philly.😎😎👍👍
I usually use 5 quarter or inch and a half White oak for the floors of my trailers. I get them from the local sawmill. Up your way maybe it's only pine. Make sure you treat them for insects with your favorite kind of water 💦 repellent . You know somehow used motor oil got spilled on top of the Borg you had to wipe it off and just so happen to spread around the boards I'm just saying if an accidental spill soaked into the boards. I probably wouldn't show that on camera that probably worse then the generator thing
It's good to see you back on the tools your happy place
There's no place like home. Glad you guys had a safe trip and things are moving right along.
So glad to have the old Chad back! Lets get into it !!
I'm glad to see you two safe and home. I know there is a bunch on here complaining, but the Ford was not there money !!! Chad, now that we're back to business, don't worry about the Ford right now. Get that T-Bird rolling and get a nice paint job on it, and some of them haters will shut the hell up. I think a lot of them backyard quarterbacks don't have a clue how real art is done. Keep up that good work, and give Jolene an extra kiss for all the great camera work.
FYI. 1969 and up VW bug running gear is the same just have to change the floor pan havles / to thing karman giha.. or karman gina running gear and pan will fit for a lowwered thing
I like the sound of that grinder! That means work is getting done
Hey Chad after you plank your trailer what I did to one was put that Bed liner that they put in pickup beds water proof good grip an tuff
The T Bird will be super cool once done. But the Thing really has me wondering what it might be like as a Rear Engine RWD car? ;)
Good to see ya moving on and back in your happy place.
CHAD MY FRIEND...no dobt in my mind
YOU HAVE TO STOP THOSE REPETITIVE
EPISODE LONG RANTS WHEN YOU ARE UNHAPPY
YOU ARE LOSING VIEWERS AT AN UNHEALTHY RATE ♥
E.G. THE 47 FORD INCIDENT
Lol you say that as his channel just blew past 1/4 million followers. Let Chad be Chad and you worry about you ✌️
@@leblanckerry4826 Don't bark orders at people. When they do great things, people tell them. When they fuck up, as they have recently, people tell them that as well.
I like the rants we all do it why not show it !
@@Estabanjuan I didn’t see them fuck anything up🙄 and it seems you should take your own advice
Glad to see you in the shop.
Love your work bench, the boot. Great camera work from the Queen.
Great content love every episode you make and Jolene your film work is the best .
Nice to see you back to work on what you love to do and Jolene as always great filming
Back in the shop fabricating........thumbs up!
Awesome content Jolene! Great work Chad and Doug! I thoroughly enjoyed this edition of your program.
Back at the shop is good for me, Hi Guys Enjoying the show from Central California.
I have a lot of respect for you Chad for the fact that you did not whine at all on this video.
Quick question for you bad Chad I see that you’re welding up some of the thick plate and the thick tubing are you using a 120 V or are you using the 240 V mig welder?
I just bought a Lincoln welder recently. That gives me the option to weld with a 120 and 240 mig welder and it also came with TIG welder and also a stick welder all in one machine.
Always looking forward to your next video. I like that you take something that needs a lot of work and you turn it into art it’s a talent a lot of people don’t have and it’s awesome how you can take stuff around the shop and make it custom and at the same time we are learning as we watch your channel.
Can't wait to see the progress with the thing. Great video as always.
Took 5 years off Doug’s life. The VW is going to be a cool project.
Great to keep some projects moving forward,👏👏👍🏻🇬🇧🤠
Thank you Chad and Jolene and Doug for sharing oh say hi to Fina
Northside Boys car show is Aug 26th Sydney Mines Nova Scotia. Grand prize wins a trip to Barrett-Jackson! Gonna be a huge show!
Looking good Chad love watching things gives me ideas 😊
we used 2x10 boards full length for our stock car trailer, its been very durable and the boards are easy to replace
Hey Chad Jolene about that car when you do the fenders for the rot you could paint them a diff color if ya wanted to and make it 2tone what color? What ever you want lol but it would look sharp 2 tone
Hay Chad. What is the up date for cabover. Do you have floor pan in. How about dash 😅
Got to admit you are a master of the cut off wheel aka zip cut
Can't wait to see what you have planned for the thing
How about fold-up ramps for the trailer. Easy enough to do.
A very interesting day Chad, good see Doug again...
Trailer is important when its raing, snowing, safe to use in any weather good idea!!
Just warning you Chad the VW thing has a little rust.
He didn’t say it was rust free but the rust was free
Why you keep hatin', and yet still keep watching? Don't you have anything beter to do in your life? Just watch your recent comments
@@3D_ALL_DAY lol, I’m in America and it’s a free country fan boy to express my opinion whether you like it or not.
It's more like the rust has a thing on it lol
@@MrSlingblade69 it is, i live in a free country also. And i also respect it. You don't need act like an ass because you've freedom of speech. Just shows you're not well.
Food for thought. While the 47 isn't what you hoped it would be, a lot of people would be quite happy to have it in the condition that it is in.
I'm wondering if maybe you should just sell it as is, or use it as a channel raffle or give away (tie it to "tickets provided for dollar sales of merch" or something like that).
It just seems it won't be worth the same amount more than it is right now if you invest the money into repairing and restoring the body.
Even if you have to lose a few bucks to resell it, you'd probably be money ahead from where you'll be the end of the restore from an investment / end value stance.
I always learn something watching your video's 👍🏻
Glad you are getting stuff done Chad and Jolene and Doug
It would be good to before the floor is put on the trailer to fix it so ramps could slide under long ramps with out having to pick them up.
Chad as always I enjoyed the content please don’t let all that shit talking get you down. Please continue to be you as you are a great person and a great motivator.
Let's see the bolt pass through the mount. If it was a good mount, you'd have to fit it. Drill or ream, so the motor flop. Or make a shoulder bolt. That's just slop. And the hand grind...no no no. It's not cool. The vw thing properly restored is a super cool car. But very few will pull it off.
Nice to see you happy mate you cheered up my day keep up the great work and positive vibes dude
Glad you guys made it home safe Put a Jeep frame under that thing body and some 44s on it I would look awesome
"DO WHAT U LIKE ALWAYS" BAD CHAD & Queen Jolene 💪🏽❤ ✌🏽 🏆 💐
Good morning jolene and chad hope your feeling well today and thank you for sharing your journey
If you have a vice just clamp the flat piece just below the top jaw and set the round piece on top of that like a v notch. Everything will be straight. Tack the side turn and repeat.
Love the Thing, looking forward to that one.
Bad Chad & Jolene so glad you two made it Home Jolene what do you think if Chad goes to See Eli and make a RatRod Frame for the Thing ? T Bird going to be Sweet love to See Black Cherry 🍒 paint Color on the T Bird with Ostrich Leather interior. With a Landau 1/4 roof of Ostrich leather.
Ain't them 1mm cut off disk's just the sweetest dang thing!
We're hearing about the fires in Nova Scotia on TV here. Hope it isn't near where you two are.
Chad you and Jolene are the very best 👍
Put a dovetail on the trailer. Much easier to load and unload vehicles
Glad to see yous back home safe and sound hows Fina Onwards and Upwards.....
How many projects are being worked on, seems like a heck of a lot? Any near completion?
Don't forget you are going to have to use a bigger bolts the same size as that pipe or your engine will move around.
Just my two cents here... I understand the situation with the car very clear. Weather I agree or not is really not my business..but they chose to share and I chose to watch and listen. There were two ways to go.. and he chose to have something rather than lose. I can watch and learn things or complain about what he does. I would rather just not watch if all I had to do is complain about his work. For myself I think I will continue to watch....
Bad, Chad and queen Jolene getting her done again. Absolutely the best RUclips channel about building cars on the Internet. Thank you for sharing.
Love how you work and explain things just wondering, are you self taught?
Does he look like he has a degree. LOL
