Great news on your parent's " New " 1989 Town Car. With only 26,000.0 miles on it it should last them a long time barring any more irresponsible drivers ! Any work that needs to be done to it should not pose a problem for you Tony. Just got back Friday with my 1989 Mercury Grand Marquis LS from New Haven , Ct. and got caught in a 1 hour traffic jam do to an accident that shut down I 84 in Hartford. Had to idle along with A/C on for that time period with no overheat or any problems. I have gotten as much as 26 mpg with the Merc on previous long trips. Fuel injection and overdrive transmission are the key to good gas mileage. I wish your parents all the best with their new purchase, a truly beautiful car.
I agree with adding the chrome. I actually like it without the added bodyside molding in the middle of the doors...it's neater looking that way to me. There are direct replacements for R-12 without converting the system. Freeze12, Envirosafe/Artic Air, are some. Look up drop in replacement for R12... If that radio is working properly, that's gold alone in this car. You can always transfer the JBL speakers/amp/grille badges from your parents' car that was hit into this car, along with the automatic mirror. Enjoy, all of you!
This car is quite a find. Congrats on sealing the deal. My mom owned an '87 Town Car base model like this one from 1992 through 2003. It was black with the gray interior but didn't have the wire wheel covers. The test drive you took brought back a lot of memories.
Beautiful car! My buddy had an 89 executive that he put chrome door moldings on it looked great! With the right work done to them I've gotten up to 27 mpg on my 88 signature when they run well they sip gas
What a really nice, good car. The options make me think that whoever ordered it didn't like the Signature Series chrome. I personally Love the chrome and can totally see that black beauty shining with it on. Hopefully the other car is in similar condition.
I think you'll be happy with it. I need to finish up some Dearborn videos before I do a video on the other one. I thought the same thing about whoever ordered it.
Congratulations! I love it, what a find! Yes, chrome rocker moldings will look great. There are so many parts from your wrecked Lincoln that can be put on this one! Beautiful Automobile. Now you have me wondering about another one!? Can't wait to see it!
Beautiful Town Car for mom and dad. I look like it could be used for a limo, being a plain Town Cae with a few up grades on it. As long as mom likes it, that it all that matters.
Been watching your videos for a while now, seeing how nice the first generation Town Cars are, and it makes me want to save up the money to try to buy my grandparents old 1989 Signature Series off my uncle and fix it up. It hasn’t run in over 10 years and the last time I remember it being driven was when my uncle took it on a trip and came home with a tow truck towing it. The last time I remember riding in it was when me and my mom went to the grocery store and got pulled over because one of the headlights died and we didn’t even notice it was dead so it must’ve been while we were driving.
Beautiful car Tony. I could see your mom in the back seat with a lap blanket as Larry drives her into town. Very pretty car. You got a couple of nice Town cars there!
Beautiful car as is! Elegant simplicity, leave it as original and avoid temptation to add the unneeded SS chrome bling. She is well equipped and possesses a n understated grace. My humble opinion.
Hi Tony. What a good-looking car! I was not surprised to hear you say you thought the standard seats were more comfortable than the SS leather seats. I found with myself a long time ago that I just don't like leather seats. The cloth seats that I have now in my latest Marquis Brougham are by far the most comfortable seats I have ever had in a car. And I have owned a 1989 Signature Series before. Great job with the selection. Now just waiting to see the "other" one.
Awesome Town Car. Hard to believe its only got 26000 original miles. By the looks of it I'd guess its always been garaged. I hope the insurance settlement from the white car paid for it.
Just get EPA certified so you can legally buy R12 and recharge it with what it’s meant to have. R12 is far colder than 134A will ever get. It’s an easy exam, open-book, online. All you need is the R12-specific hose, which is readily available online.
Congrats on the new car for your parents. The base model is fine. You dont need to start adding items to the car that were not on it as It came from the factory. Its a base model Town car, not a Signature Series. Keep the car as original as it is and dont monkey with it. If it needs repairs thats what you do and fix it. Base models are just as good as upper models. Why is it that people aren't satisfied with what they have. Leave well enought alone.
11:35 the windshield mirror has wires to it?? Auto-dim or "dome" lights on the mirror or auto-dim eye ball for the headlights?? That car has lots of stuff to be a "base"...
She’s a beauty Tony. I think the cloth seats will be good for your parents especially in the winter months. How were the tires?? Was the driver side review mirror temperature gauge standard??
Tony, that's a really nice car and will be even better once you're done with the minor cosmetics and finishing touches. Its also good to see your parents happy again after their terrible ordeal. Congrats to both of them on their purchase. Is the other gentleman with you guys your Brother? Two Town Cars purchased?.....Im intrigued. 🇨🇦
I had a 93 Cartier Town car that was giver to me by my aunt but had to sell it as I had way too many problems and a lot of people said they were the best car they had. I must ahave got s lemon.
So I am confused are you still looking at the other TC? Or has the search ended. If it where me I wouldn't put the chrome on the rocker. Nice care hope you show us the other one even if it is a online ad. Best of luck to your parents and the new old outdated car. LOL
This particular car was sent to me by multiple viewers and was on Facebook Market Place. The next one you will see was also sent to me by a viewer and was at a public auction.
24:02 do a night time video to make sure the B-pillar lights both work, all the dash lights, the under hood light, trunk light, etc...I am sure they all do, but just saying... also smear a huge glob of chassis grease on the bump stops to prevent the loud popping and screeching sounds(24:28) in a parking lot when the steering wheel is cut as sharp as it can turn on all 2002 and older Panthers.
Glad parents are ok now and back in action! : ) Why did you keep saying "Ugly, old outdated, unsafe Town Car" ??? Was that one of the comments on the video where their car was totaled out? I agree on the Signature Series lower moldings, BUT not on the body side moldings. to me it breaks up the entire side of the car plus while its in theory supposed to help prevent door dings its not very effective at that as all car doors are a different shape, size, angles etc and if a tall SUV parks next to you that molding wont do much to prevent a ding. All around though that's a beautiful car!
Yes. There were so many terrible mean comments on that video. Sometimes, I really want to stop doing videos. I actually love the bodyside molding and feel like there's something missing without it.
Well I’m very sorry to hear that Tony. There will always be haters and opinions are a dime a dozen. I have a 97 Mark Vlll LSC white / tan interior. About 5 years ago I was at moms where my brother lives too and his friend was visiting. He owns a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. After I pulled away he told my brother “that car is so ugly why does he still drive it?” My reply was “as of his POS Hyundai is so beautiful? I then said he’s ugly “. He’s about 73 now so he was 68 at the time and I was 53. Very immature comment if you ask me. They no longer speak thank God. The guys a complete narcissistic ass. Mom looked adorable getting out of her “new” Lincoln. Glad they’re ok now. May God bless them. If you recall from a previous post my mom passed in January this year so I’m still healing but getting better each day. Enjoy every second you have with them!!!
It’s kind of a miracle to find a Black Lincoln in that good of shape that’s 35 years old, that they don’t want crazy money for, Definitely found a needle in the haystack
It seems Rare to see Base Models still left in wonderful condition. I see mostly the Signatures. I kinda like it without the Chrome on the bottom. It gives it a Different, Kinda unique Look.
They are getting a lot of compliments, but I really like the chrome. I remember them adding at the dealer back then because customers wanted it, and they'd pay for it.
@@patrickburke7929 26,000 miles on an 89 and the overall condition is excellent what a disservice to make it a daily driver. Rack up the millage & wear it out.Car like this should be bought garaged and driven once a month just so it doesn't dry up.
These crushed velour seats are far more comfortable than leather and hold up far better than leather on older cars... not cold in the winter, not hot in the summer, holds you in place, sound insulation and makes the interior whisper quiet.
Very nice Town Car. I’m glad they’re happy with it and hope that it gives them many years of safe trouble free driving. Can’t wait to see the second one!
That was an awesome find! I'm sure it was well worth the drive. I believe that is one of the sharpest black TCs of that body style that I have ever seen. I know that it is just a matter of personal taste, but IMO I believe that sedan looks fine without the chrome applique along the bottom or the centerline side moldings. That may look nice on other TCs of different colors, but with that matching black coach roof.....it looks perfect the way it is. The only change in appearance I would attempt would be to possibly tint the windows to block out sun's UV rays. The gray cloth interior, headliner, and carpet will fade fast. And because of it's age the cloth headliner will pull loose from the foam backing fairly soon. I love the looks of the car. The black finish with a certain amount of chrome gives it a rather understated look of elegance and authority.....as a LINCOLN should. Also, I hope both your parents are well and have fully recovered from their accident. God bless and keep you all in his tender care.
Tony, paint the new white moldings, black & put it on for the folk’s. Take to body shop they will paint the white moldings black for U! 😊 Oh Geez 😅 the neighbors will think 🤔 your folks won the lottery 2 fancy town cars! Neighbor’s will be jealous! Lol 😂
Tony, it is a beautiful car, very nice condition. Perfect for your parents. Just take it to a professional car detailing company & have it all cleaned up & engine compartment steam cleaned. Have the paint all polished up & buffed & put on the chrome on the bottom rocker’s. Will be a gorgeous car, how exciting & fun 😊 So happy for your parents. 26,000 miles very low. 😊
I think that car looks absolutely beautiful and elegant!!! I love the cloth interior much more than leather!! This is a keeper!!! Excellent job finding this car!!! Your folks will love this!!
Hi Tony - Wow, you found a great car for your Mom and Dad! You'll be able to get it just the way you want and as you know you just can't beat a low mileage used vehicle. I'm glad your Mom and Dad are happy. Thanks for sharing this video with us. Y'all come back now, ya hear?❣
The base model is so underrated. To see one optioned out highly and still have cloth interior is a really rare beast. I'm not a huge fan of the exterior black color but the base trim would NOT scare me away at all. When i was growing up in the late 1980's, a neighbor of mine bought a 1989 Lincoln Town Car base model in a beautiful shade of mauve. I knew it was the base model but it was the ONLY Town Car i've seen with the base hubcaps at the time. But everytime it drove by my parents house, it looked beautiful. Not everything has to be Signature or Cartier to be considered good in my opinion.
Tony, will be awesome 2 new town car’s! One for mom One for Dad! Very Cool 😂❤your u-tube channel…I’m retired love watching your channel, your very smart & knowledgeable. 😊
Very Nice Lincoln! I used to work at the Budd Co. and Budd made all the major class A sheet metal assemblies for the Lincoln, Mark, & Continental - Door, Fenders, Quarter Panels. Deck lids, Hoods and Roof assemblies. They also did the T-birds - 55-50 BIW . The Lincolns were built at Wixom,Michigan and I spent a few days there and Budd had a representative there at all times. Some models the roof to quarter panels were manually leaded in and that was cool to watch and the workers could only do that operation for so many years to not get lead poisoning in the future. I hope and pray your health is good Tony. I am still going thru my maintenance treatments for Follicular Lymphoma and I am feeling pretty good. Your dad and mom look like they are in great shape too! I wouldn't trade the Lincoln for a new car either! Take care and Thanks for your video. Tony
Thanks for that great little bit of info. Very interesting. I don't think Dan ever mentioned that you worked there. I think I'm doing okay for the time being. Take care of yourself.
Hey Tony, glad to see your parents got another '89 Town Car. Looks like a real clean example. I'm sure those velour seats are super comfortable. Crazy seeing one with a glovebox door that isn't warped, lol. I will say, I think I prefer the cleaner look of not having the chrome side cladding and side molding, but then again I also prefer the cleaner look of the next generation Town Car, so maybe I'm not the best person to be speaking on these old box Town Cars. I wonder, is the ride of the Signature/Cartier any better than the base model? I've driven a base model Town Car of this generation, but never a Signature or Cartier to compare.
@@tonyscarcare5657 Good to know. By the way, I LOVE the red interior in your Town Car. Its a shame you can't get cars anymore with colorful interiors like that.
@@melvinharris7859 my Cartier model has the air Rear suspension, but I also drove a 1988 TC without it and I couldn't tell the difference, the seats probably make the real difference:)
Congrats! I've owned both white and black cars before. Black looks beautiful, but by the time you've dusted one side of the car, the other side is dusty again. White hides a lot, but black reveals everything. Nothing beats the beauty of a black car though.
That is an odd but welcomed package for a base in 89'. Keyless entry and lit key cylinders. I have had a few and if I ever am fortunate to get one more I would like to find one without the digital dash. I believe cloth was actually an option, as well, in 89. Nice find.
Glad the search for your parents replacement Town Car ended in finding a really nice low mile example. I can't wait to watch the progress as you add "signature series" parts to the car. Can't wait to see a video on the second Town Car you found!
Tony, please stop telling mother the car is ugly & unsafe, not nice. I love the car & the interior gray. Tony, where RU going to get the chrome rocker panels at? I hope they will be new & not beat up. Make sure the chrome in new & shiny! Lol 😊
That's a joke because so many people commented that the car was outdated, ugly, and unsafe after the accident. We will use most of the chrome off of the one that was wrecked. I know where more are sitting.
@@tonyscarcare5657 I have the Cartier model and I live up in Canada, incase of an accident I managed to save all the bottom chrome off a rough parts car a few years ago, parts are hard to come by up here, but I plan on driving my Cartier till the very end! I'm just so glad you guys found such a awesome example of the 1989 model TC!!
That's a nice one undercoating aside. I really like the analog gauges on the 89's,, but it almost seems like those tires are one size too small... Might be the overwhelming presence of those wire wheel hubcaps throwing me.. 99% of the time that vacuum leak is gonna be on that firewall vacuum tree with the check valve..

Just get EPA certified so you can legally buy R12 and recharge it with what it’s meant to have. R12 is far colder than 134A will ever get. It’s an easy exam, open-book, online. All you need is the R12-specific hose, which is readily available online.
I'm not even sure it needs it. It wound up getting pretty cold and making a lot of condensation. I think the vacuum leak is all that needs addressed.

What’s better than a Towncar? 2 Towncars! She’s a beaut! My Dad had one just like it growing up, but with red interior. Thanks for sharing.
Nice car Tony I hope your parents enjoy the car many safe motoring miles
Tony, will be awesome 2 new town car’s! One for mom One for Dad! Very Cool 😂❤your u-tube channel…I’m retired love watching your channel, your very smart & knowledgeable. 😊
Thank you very much!
Nice Lincoln town car 89
@@tonyscarcare5657 Tony you are welcome! Best of luck with your health and that car! God Bless you and your family! Tony
You as well, sir!
Nice find. Was not expecting black!
My dad has always loved black vehicles.

Tan interior is nice too. I like beige. New cars don’t have beige inside anymore either.
@42luke93 Well then, I think you'll like the other one they bought.
Beautiful car!
Beautiful Machine great choice glad your parents are ok and got their Lincoln replacement.
I believe the ride is the same for all models. It's the plush softer seating that makes the difference.
The load leveling suspension was an option on all models.
Congrats! I've owned both white and black cars before. Black looks beautiful, but by the time you've dusted one side of the car, the other side is dusty again. White hides a lot, but black reveals everything. Nothing beats the beauty of a black car though.
Wow what a beautiful car are they gonna get it
Beautiful Lincoln!! ❤❤ I'm in love!
I hope your mom and dad enjoy it for many more miles. Congratulations
Beautiful lincoln town car 😍😍😍
It's beautiful Tony!!!!!
Beautiful car. I wish your parents the best with it.
That’s awesome Tony! I hope you will be showing us another one soon. So exciting.
We will. We need to finish up a few Dearborn videos first. Thank you!
Beauty !!
Beautiful!
Yes, sir! I'll start with the three vacuum hoses coming out of the firewall. I believe the tires are the correct size. I'll double check.
Congrats to Tony's mom & dad!
