To be honest a lot of people here in Europe are switching to Turbolamik TCU from the HTG unit. The setup of the Turbolamik is way easier and its made exclusively for the 8hp. (The HTG is more universal).
We curently have a few guys running in our national series with the 8hp90 (best version) and they are pushing around 1000-1200nm to the wheels. And even with that power the gearbox is able to go through multiple seasons. And if it breaks it super cheap…
Thats right. In community i saw a tons of videos when htg software decided to put reverse for a while when it was on dyno. Turbolamik hasnt got this problem
100% HTG seems to be a nightmare for most, whereas Lamik have an amazing product & happy customer base 👌🏼
great build plan.. turbo lamik provides a tcm which works with the 8hp transmissions with lots of functions as well as the functional clutch pedal

yes the only thing that would make it "unreliable" are emission stuff, just like any modern car. Get rid of all that and it's just as good as a 2JZ

Zero to 60 channel in Australia have some great detailed videos of using the 8hp with a clutch in a couple of drift cars, and they rip!! Can’t wait to see it!
Came here to comment this too! Turbolamik has capability for clutch by wire and seemingly can retain OEM driveability and has the option to have a sequential shifter too.
Really wish he would’ve had them fly out instead! Would’ve been huge for his channel and I know they could get it perfect. But I also understand Adam wanting to partner with a big company, they are probably doing it for free.

Adam needs to check out “Zero to 60” on RUclips out of Australia and their 8hp Turbo Lamik with clutch. controlling an e46 with an 8hp with a electronic clutch pedal. And a diesel Land Cruiser with a 8hp and clutch pedal!

He's not really on the team. He's the JV squad who won't be around next year. He's only on for half the year because of contractual obligations with sponsors.

@@mindedchaos Deane said in his video about competing for a championship. So that tells me he'll be doing a full season. I'm pretty sure RTR will be running 3 cars the events LZ does and probably 2 cars the events LZ misses. To me, it doesn't make sense to have someone run LZs car part time. More $$$ and team effort to not compete for a championship.

Adam! What your transmission code meant was that it had been flat towed and the gearing gets out of wack. After driving, the computer starts rectifying the code and letting the transmission go back to normal/manual. 🙏 hope your project exceeds your expectations! I’ve had my Supra for 3 years now, and I love it! 🙌 hope to have you in San Antonio, Texas sometime soon!
One of the exhaust you need to try is the RK-Titanium single exit! The single exit gives it much more JZ sounding vibes. Kinda wild tbh. But 12/10 would recommend to a friend.

What's interesting about this is that a 6MT version of the supra was recently released, but I think your plan to retrofit existing supras with either clutch/handbrake or swapping the transmission to manual is the best move, considering you'll also be able to market those mods thru DriftHQ

Talk to ‘0 to 60’ in Australia, they’re documenting and developing swap kits using the 8hp, they’ve just put one in a V8 Land Cruiser and fitted a sequential like shifter for manual feel. Their drift car also uses a 8hp and clutch pedal

@zeroto60 in Australia have done 8 speed swaps with an aftermarket controller. They have a bunch of videos for how to do it as well as videos of them working on track

ive been looking into the 8hp70 for the n54 and have a mate that did one to an rb26 skyline here in australia, from what i understood the turbolamik can bolt directly into the old can/ecu and power the car, might work on the supra but you got HTG flying out so thats probably not an option, the zeroto60 guys did figure out that clutch pedal slave cylinder mock up tho! excited to see new ideas/designs which will hopefully create more competition for parts! excited!!!!

You can disconnect the battery for like 25 min to let it go to reset sleep and get rid of all the lights but it wount keep them away if there’s a problem

Everyone seems to be building supras left and right now. Adam is on his 2nd one. TJ Hunt is doing one. Piotr Wiecek is preparing one for the next season of Drift Masters. I would assume a lot more people will pop up with supras this season.
