Bert, do you strip your wire before you turn it in? And you need to find a few heating and air guys to work with on their old units I own a heating business in Virginia I have a guy that I give the scrap to, in return he brings me 20% of the money. That works out for both of us.
When I'm taking motors apart like that I take my propane torch and burn off those little ropes and strings holding it all together that stuff Burns off makes it a lot easier. 👍👍😀🇨🇦🔌🔥
Brilliant - Motors with give You Copper - Alu - Steel ! A win - win Situation - can't loose - yes a little Elbow Grease that makes it Worth While ! Blessings from us in Australia !!!!
I'm not convinced the time and effort is worth it. You're really only making about $5 for taking it apart. Your time is worth more than that. You would be better taking huge truck loads of complete motors in, get the best price based on volume, dump them each time you have a load, no cleaning or sorting, hurl them in and use the time gained to get out and find more or load up the hoard of stuff you have already collected. I think scrappers get a bit glassy eyed about copper, almost drool over it, seems a sign of heirarchy, who has more copper lol but time IMO is overlooked. You also have the benefit of good steel prices, I know you capitalise on that, great work, but have you considered saving time by not taking the motors apart?
I don't really come across a bunch of motors especially large ones that's a very rare occasion so I try to maximize what I have plus it only took me 8 minutes it's not that long especially when it's raining and I can't do anything outside really but I hear you if it's not worth your time it's not I could just go sit inside and watch TV I guess
Scrap yards definitely got it figured out and they're not going to make any less than double in most cases... well wherever the motors go to get crushed
@@ScrapFarm they used to only pay 40c kg here for whole motors, at a time pre-covid when copper was around $7 kg, so the difference is greater. Your whole motor price seems really good but I hear ya re not finding many
Good video as always!
Interesting video Thanks Bert

Nice work
merci pour les video jose de la france
What is prepared steel? Examples? compared to regular steel? Nice chuck of copper out of that motor.. It all adds up.
Prepared steel would be under four foot long and preferably thicker than 1/8
Thanks man. Now I got it. I will keep my eye out for that chunky stuff.
Hey Bert, liked your video , just a little shorter than your normal one's !
Trying to hit that algorithm and make a million....lol

When I'm taking motors apart like that I take my propane torch and burn off those little ropes and strings holding it all together that stuff Burns off makes it a lot easier. 👍👍😀🇨🇦🔌🔥

Thank you Bert for showing this. I like to see how you make money out of scrap and I like to see the cleaning of the materials. Thanks, thanks thanks.
Hi from Quebec. Love to watch what you do. Say hi to your grandma. Have a nice day
Is it ok to just burn solid wire to get rid of the covering versus stripping which would take forever?
People do it but it's not good for the environment
@@ScrapFarm also some yards won't accept burnt copper wire now (atleast around my neck of the woods)
Thanks for the replies
I don't know of anyone that would take burnt copper . It wouldn't be bear bright copper anymore that way .
Check your local laws. Here in Oklahoma, it's illegal.
Last pump I pulled apart, there was mostly aluminum wire and just a few turns of copper... lots of work and little reward
Ya i check each one now...
I usually cut where the vented portion is by the back of the motor stick a pair of long Snips in there and see what it is
This young man gets it done.
I try
