Great video when I type set timer from the home screen search all it does is give me the Safari icon with a bunch of arrows pointed up to the right I do not see the top hit like in your video I’ve tried numerous times does anyone know how to get it to show up?

Love your videos. How about personalized spatial audio? It’s a really great listening feature. To find it, go to sounds and haptic/personalized audio. It’s the last thing on the list. I enjoy your newsletter, too. 14:24

Great selection of new features articulated in the way that I can even understand.
Not sure i would agree that dictation has improved. I use it all the time and find it very useful but also frustrating. it seems strange that it does not learn when you correct something very often, for example my daughters dog is called Buddy and yet this always comes out in dictation as body and no matter how many times I correct it the next time it does it again!
The new kaleidoscope wallpapers are pretty cool. I don’t recall them being mentioned in any of these vids yet.
Another change I noticed in 17 is the way markup works in photos. Shapes have changed. No longer do you pick a shape, say a ⭕️ to highlight something. Drove me crazy until I figured it out. Maybe include those changes in a future video?

I’ve noticed that on my iPhone and watch is in meters and not in feet. Which I prefer.

This is such a great content, you really keep the IOS at our fingertips. Is the copy link feature still has the same security when used in WHATSAPP ?
I had turned on the camera level indicator when I first got the new iPhone. The first time I went to take a photo I panicked seeing this line across the screen - I thought that my lens had someone got scratched since it was only doing it in the camera app. After a few seconds I remembered that I turned on the level and that must be it.

I really appreciate your videos! I tried Personal Voice the first time you mentioned it. Unfortunately the voice I get is the usual mechanical nasty which ignores punctuation. My iPhone 12 mini is running 17.0.3 and set to UK English but I live in Denmark.
He did say to give it time to learn

Hello, question in website settings if i link a website to open with certain profile, this only works with external links to safari? If I am on personal profile and open a website configured to open in work profile, automatically will open the website on the work profile ? Or open in personal profile since isn’t an external link ?
Did you know ios17 stopped supporting its own lightning connectors? I found out when I connected mine to my iPad to download from a trail camera SD card. Maybe you can help?

I don’t like the privacy implications of the Personal Voice system , BUT like you say if somebody is losing their voice (permanently) or is at risk it’s got genuine Value to it.
All these new features carry over to the iPad also? I look forward to your iPad version of this video. :)

At 11:00 - timer shortcut widget / / A lot of useful information. But. When I entered timer in spotlight search, I got timer, but not set timer or add alarm shortcut. [ You sound fine at 25% playback speed, btw. ]

Hi! There is a little error when using the QR to submit to your mailinglist. After pressing en fill in the information which is needed. Then you can click to go to your website it gives me an error about 'thats odd, this page appears to be missing' And it shows a nice picture from a dog :)
Do synonyms for Choose from menu choices (Shortcut action) work in iOS 17? Synonyms don't work with iOS 15 or 16.

Can’t get the Timer feature to work…. I’m on iOS 17.0.3
Camera, when the lock screen is locked the swipe left command to open camera is a pain when putting the phone in or taking out of your pocket you could take a photo by mistake. i only wish they would give you a setting to turn this off.
Also: Which device are you using for your videos? Quality is great. Cheerio!
Personal voice would be very useful if it had a translator. I’m sure there’s some apps that can do that but would be cool to have it natively behind a few close button clicks.

Most of them are. Their older products were not all MFI their newer ones are.
No personal voice in my settings.
I created shortcuts for Lock the Screen, unfortunately the screen still on and it unlocked automatically because I’m still looking at it while touching shortcuts. Seem useless

Yeah, I do it every day. (assuming you mean a grocery list in Reminders?) I just say things like "Hey Siri, add dishwasher tablets to my shopping list" for example, and it handles it entirely for me.
I don’t want it in reminders though. I used to be able to add anything to my notes.

Who actually remembers all this stuff!? You pick 4 or 5 things you use often and the rest of the features are basically never used… good video though.

I like this channel and have noted multiple useful tips. However, the insistence that IOS 17 is “AMAZING” has quickly worn thin in relation to the actual experience.
- locating the cursor now selects a word and it’s almost impossible to select the space between words.
- I’ve an iOS 17 install which is corrupted. This shows up in Settings and it appears there is nothing to be done about it except hope the next update fixes it.
- reminder badges no longer sync across iCloud. One device will tell me I’ve 3 things to do whilst the other will say 7. Same issues with iMessage for some people. None of the alleged fixes work.
Many more I could list. Really need a video acknowledging that actually it isn’t amazing and has broken lots of previous functionality. Suggested fixes could then be put on the table.

Not my experience at all. The OS has been great for me through all betas, on multiple devices. Sorry that you’re having a bad experience, but you’ll also have to accept that your experience isn’t the same as everyone else’s.
I absolutely accept we all have different experiences but a quick look at Apple forums and social media does suggest some very obvious and significant flaws with 17. It has broken multiple basic things which have worked for years. Includes the things I have listed. Must be common as friends are reporting the same annoyances and it’s not a subject we ever talk about.
I wounded how many people actually like the sound of their own voice

…don’t want features…I want the freakin battery to last ALL DAY.
I think you need to qualify this with a iPhone version. I have 17 on my 11 pro max and I don’t have personal voice. So it’s not just having iOS 17 you also need a supported hardware.

Yes, stop releasing everything year and work on fixing the operating system and making incremental improvements when stable.
