#SecretInvasion #EasterEggs
This Secret Invasion series is based on a big crossover storyline from the comics that shares the same name. Skrulls, the shape shifting aliens we’ve seen in Captain Marvel. They invade earth.
So before we get into the trailer, a little background on the books, which can give us some hints about what we’re going to see in this series. In the comics the Skrulls replace many people from every walk of life. Including iconic Marvel heroes such as Captain America, Iron Man, and Wolverine. [clip]
The MCU flipped the script on the Skrulls by making them good guys. Instead of their typical villainous role we’ve seen them play in the comics. We got to see a great twist in Captain Marvel revealing that the Skrulls have been oppressed by another race of aliens known as the Kree.
The trailer opens in the woods. When Fury beams down to earth you instantly get that classic alien invasion, thriller-movie vibe. Eerie music plays. Right away the woods make us think there’s something hidden out there, something primal. The trailer deals a lot with hidden faces, and that mood is set in this first frame.
His silhouette looks like a tall alien body. This whole scene is very reminiscent of Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
Fury is likely returning to earth for the first time since we last saw him in the post credit scene of Spider-Man Far From Home. In this scene he's in space on board a Skrull ship.
In that post credit scene we also learn that Talos and Sorin have been filling in for Nick Fury and Maria Hill back on earth. Talos and Sorin are Skrulls we met in Captain Marvel who also happen to be married.
In Spider-Man: No Way Home we hear it mentioned again that Fury has been off planet for the last year. After Fury exits what appears to be a shuttle we cut to him entering a bar to meet Maria Hill.
Now I always assumed that Maria Hill was off planet with Nick Fury. But in this trailer we learn she’s been on earth the whole time.
We hear Maria say to Nick that she knows he’s been avoiding earth. And that she has called him for help many times, but she's always sent to voicemail.
This makes me wonder… If Maria Hill hasn’t been off planet with Fury, then why was a Skrull filling in for her? Is it possible that Maria Hill and the Skrull Soren are the same person? What if Soren has been Maria Hill all along and Nick Fury has always known?
We know Fury is close with the Skrulls and has known them for decades. And clearly at some point Talos returned to earth to work with Fury. So it only makes sense that his wife, Soren, would come with him.
But the more likely explanation is that Maria Hill was working on an undercover mission in another part of the world. This non-smoking sign at the bar Maria and Fury are meeting at is written in Russian. So Maria has likely been in Russia working on a mission and Soren has been filling in for her back in the U.S.
In the bar we also see a chessboard in the foreground. Keep in mind chess is very popular in Russia. This chess board could be indicating that the story to come will be very intricate, like a game of chess.
When Maria Hill confronts Fury about his absence. He says that the situation at hand is different than any other mission. Hinting that something really big is going down.
Now whether it was Fury who called Maria Hill, or Maria Hill who called Fury, is still unclear.
If it was Maria who called Fury back to earth, then she may be expressing her confusion as to why Nick responded to this request but none of the others. Perhaps implying that Maria doesn’t yet know the severity of the mission at hand.
Now if it was Fury who called Maria Hill. Then her comments in the trailer are simply frustration that Fury is asking her for help after months of him ignoring her calls for help. - Кино

14:11 no they can't, only "Super Skrulls" can "replicate" powers. Non-Super Skrulls, can only mirror.
Someone walked across the balcony @16:38
I think that fury's left eye isn't really blind. But apart from that I realize a trend, basically all marvel movies are because of something the "heroes" do. Mordo and Thor was right. The bill comes due and dabbling in a higher form of weaponry tells the universe that earth is ready for a higher form of power/ challenge. So Nick probably was trying to get more power and it turn around and bit him in the ass. Example the tesseract, they messed with it and each time something bad happened.
If Rhoady was a Skrull that would explain why he changed from Terrance Howard to Don Cheadle in one movies time.
Bruh😂
😂😂😂😂
Skrulls can NOT duplicate powers. This was specifically mentioned by Talos in Captain Marvel. The Super-Skrulls from the comics, who can duplicate powers, are genetically and cybernetucally altered to do so.
Thank you, I just heard him say that and had to see if someone else called it out.
I wonder if we will eventually see a Super-Skrull, that story kinda ties in with the F4 in the comics, I think.
Wow!!! That’s scarier than having normal skrulls take the place almost every known person and super hero in MCU.
Which could be what that machine is they're creating... the skrulls can only infiltrate so far until they need to replicate some powers.
Speak that truth. Also in the comics one version of their history, only the Queen could grant a Skrull that ability to shape shift. I'm a pre 2000's collector, do I dont know what the lore is now.
"Посторонним вход воспрещен" is more like "Unauthorized entry is prohibited" or simplier "No trespassing" ))
Gracias
But I guess in context of a lab “authorized personnel only” is just a perfect little translation. I mean, “no trespassing” is more a sign you put on the entrance to your property, right?
@@EmiliaZochowska Yeah, true
Haha well played, "@@juanbisonosuero3650!" 👍😅
Well played, indeed.
Thank you 😊
Olivia Coleman being in this series has me (not-seriously) viewing Secret Invasion as a sequel to Hot Fuzz. Officer Thatcher moved up in the ranks and knows exactly how to handle conspiracies like this, with multiple people in disguises covering for each other. 😂
I love this theory! And hope her Sense of humour has remained the same.
Brilliant!
yarp
Lol this is gold.
I only buy this if the top villian says everything they're doing is "For the greater good"
Sharon being skrull would alleviate the weirdness of her being Peggy’s niece and that whole attraction thing with her and cap.
Sharon and cap did have a relationship in comics
I think Emilia Clarke could be the daughter of the skrull empress who choose not to go along with her mother's evil plans of taking over the earth ,and is trying to stop her.
Let’s hope this sets up hulking
In the comics, Skrulls have a lifespan of about 200 years. This is why it makes sense that they could be in their physical prime in the 1980s and still be in their prime in the present day. (Also, they’ve been travelling at light speed to various worlds since the 1980s, so time dilation is a factor.)
1990s* to 2020s so still valid, but not the 80s lol
@@CT_Taylor You need to learn math. Yes a skull in their prime in the 80s could still be in their prime in 2020. 40 years is 1/5th of 200. So you're saying a scrull between 80 and 120 is not in their prime.
@@illwit11 no.. I was saying that the OP said 1980s but it was the 1990s. effectively moot as far as what hes saying, but i was just emphasizing it is like early 90s to early 2020s , not 1980s.
We dont know anything about how old skrulls work (on screen) so for all I know they grow to maturity and they stay that until a very quick aging process that takes weeks then they die. Lool.
Something to note is that it isn’t the Damage Control Agency or the Bureau of Damage Control, it’s the Department of Damage Control. Departments are parts of the federal bureaucracy whose leaders are Secretaries, like how the Department of Homeland Security is headed by the Secretary of Homeland Security or the Department of Housing and Urban Development is headed by the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Maybe Rhodey is the Secretary of Damage Control.
Or Defense. Either makes more sense than State.
Nope he is the president of America they cut the idea in endgame for later use
It was make sense if his job is to protect Stark/Alien tech out of the hands of bad guys.
@@EverettBurger except now DODC has all the confiscated stark tech etc after spider-man. i think the most if not all of damage control are potentially skrulls..
@@geranobeks Dermot Mulroney is playing the president in Secret Invasion
Another hint that Fury hasn’t been around since agents of shield is the end credit scene to Infinity war when he and Maria hill are about to blip. You can here Maria call him Nick and he turns to look at her. In Captain Marvel he says everyone calls him Fury nothing else. Also his beard in the trailer at the beginning makes it look like he age more while those who blip stayed the same age
So then are people that call Furry "Nick" the Skrulls cause they don't know him as Furry or is "Furry" a Skrull cause he responded?
I swear to god people are missing the fact that Maria Is Dying and is panicking during the Blip, I'd don't care What I called you while I'm alive and well if I'm dying I'm Calling you by your First Name lol. Also, Soren would Called Fury "Talos" and not Nick if she was the one who was Blipped.
That hint makes it more likely Hill is a Skrull not fury. SHE is the one who said it. And he was the one who looked at her in suspicion.
@@danielhughes5932 Oh Okay, hopefully the show clears it up a bit on how long he has been gone.
@@huecoa4990 yeah it can really go any direction at this point. Can't believe it's been over 3 years since we first saw that the fury on earth was Talos
The cinematography in that shot of Rhodes and his security walking down the stairs makes me think they’re all skrulls
Edit: at least just in that scene they’re all skrulls. I doubt Rhodes was the whole time
I mean James has a film coming so they must be using him as a disguise.
@내 첫사랑도경수 that’s possible but Tony had nano bots near the end so Rhodes could have like nano bot pants on underneath
Dude…. Your theories are by far the best of ANY video about the MCU! It’s complete silence in my home when I click onto these videos. PLEASE keep doing you’re thing. Your theories are not just entertaining, they’re well within the reach of being possible. They are NOT far-fetched at all. I LOVE IT‼️‼️‼️👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾👍🏾
The lady with the gun is similar of Fury’s story in Captain America: The Winter Soldier - with his (grandad?) having a paper bag all the time (with his ‘lunch’), then pulls out a gun when the thugs ask what’s in it.
I wonder if this Secret Invasion might be the opposite of the comic versions, since in the comics (and the Capt. Marvel movie) Skrulls can't copy superpowers. They usually have to capture the particular heroes and syphon their powers, so maybe in this one Fury's mistake is that he had the Skrulls studied and now someone has found a way to capture Skrulls for their shifting abilities. Those might not be Skrulls that are invading, but they have Skrull powers.
Very good theory there! I would love Ben Mendelson (talos) to stay a good guy. The actor only ever gets to play the villains sadly.
That's interesting. I was wondering what they'd do. Like a rogue group of them but that's a fantastic concept.
I wonder if the Kree found a way to do just that .
Maria Hill always being a Skrull would be a good way to start the series. It makes some sense, as shes a constant presence but not a full Avenger.
Good point
It wouldn't make sense, since the _Captain Marvel_ movie showed us that, even when the Skrulls are in human form, if they get injured & bleed, their blood is still purple. Maria Hill's bled in _The Avengers_ and _Captain America: The Winter Soldier_ and her blood was red. So she couldn't have been a Skrull then.
@@loganbigmo Good point. Except, with 20 years of assistance by the head honcho of Shield, they could have remedied that possible loose end.
11:05 Olivia Coleman played one of the human forms of a shapeshifting alien hiding on earth in Matt Smith's first Doctor Who episode (S5 E1).
awesome factoid!
You forgot the infinity war post credit scene reference, when Hill and Fury are in the car before getting dusted. Maria Hill calls Fury, Nick and Fury said in Cpt Marvel no one calls him Nick..
I just want agent coulson back
Ryan gave the puppet the hair enhancement product in one of the previous breakdowns and now giving him grooming product to trim that new hair 😂 continuity in sponsors plug 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Hey did y’all see Man-Thing in the Werewolf at Night trailer?
Yes!!
Hell yeah I did that’s awesome 😎
I wonder if Sharon Carter will show up in this series... she seems like a Skrull.
I loved when Fury said ITS INVASION’N TIME
"I've had it with these MF Skrulls on this MF planet!"
@@chrism70kc 😂
7:22 The actor who played Secretary Thaddeus (Thunderbolt) Ross passed away this year. It’s likely that Rhodes might have been appointed to that position.
Yes it seems odd that we didn't know Don Cheadle was in this until recently
@@nicholasfactor For the most part, Disney is pretty good at keeping a secret.
Ironically, for this Show’s name, this trailer leaked more than a month ago 😂
@@Pub2k4 Honestly I think they're just cameoing him to set up Armor Wars (like in F&WS)
@@nicholasfactor Probably. Cameos are a big part of the TV shows. But, this would be a wasted cameo, because Samuel L Jackson doesn’t need a token cast member as backup.
The hobbit joke “I get that reference” is funny, call back to how Bucky read the hobbit when it first came out
I think they gonna make Skrull unable to copy ability, just face, so then they will make this a pure spy series without many superpowers, take a break from super powers always good, human deserve a life in MCU also
Unless they introduce the Super Skull as the main villain
@@greatwill5425 true
I was about to say they are going to bring in the Super Skrulls or lead up to them being created. That’s the point of the other faction of skrulls…
Actually in the comics, the Skrulls were benevolent good guys who helped the Kree advance as a society but the Kree turned on the Skrulls so Captain Marvel got that right. It’s not a twist, it’s canon.
i didn't know that. I thought they were always bad guys
My bet is on what another commenter said: the Kree have developed a way to have Skrull-like powers and the hints that there are bad Skrulls doing the invading is a repeat of what they did for Captain Marvel, where they faked us out by cutting it to make the Skrulls look bad/get everyone to think, “Secret Invasion from the comics!” and then - surprise! They’re the good guys. Sure, it’s been done, but it works, so …
Your Theory with the department of damage control makes sense. If they’re skrulls, I wonder if they’re trying to make super skrulls by experimenting on “enhanced” beings that are locked up in The Raft or at that place where they held the villains in Ms. Marvel.
Super skrulls can replicate powers, ordinary skrulls can not. Otherwise it wouldn't make sense for Captain Marvel to demonstrate she wasn't a skrull to Nick Fury by using her powers.
Got a great ensemble cast, Olivia Coleman & Kingsley Ben-Adir from One Night in Miami are going to kill it! Happy that the showrunner is one of the key writers & producers of Mr Robot!
Mr Robot was one hell of a show I didn't even know that
One night in Miami is soooooo underrated
@@EverettBurger ive never heard of it, so now im gonna have to watch it.... thanks for the heads up 😊
Secret Invasion is one of my all-time favorite comic stories, I'm interested to see how Marvel adapts it to the MCU 🤔
Dude, I think the lady with a gun finding an envelope is Misty Knight from Luke Cage!
I believe it's the Kree invading .
They found a way to mimic Skrull powers .
I wasn’t really that excited for this series but now that I know a little bit more about it, I am very excited!
This made me really hype as someone who loves the secret invasion storyline the tone the style are everything.
Can't wait for this series, thank you for keeping us up-to-date Ryan!

Yep. And he’s a full bird Colonel in FATWS.

Doug is the real star of this channel! We need MORE DOUG!!!!
That scene where the trailer opens in the woods, the first thing that poped into my mind was The X-Files.
The fun thing about the Skrull plot in the MCU is they can replace existing actors with new ones and saying its just a Skrull impersonating them
>
I think the Kree will be the villains in Secret Invasion, but will paint the Skrulls as the invading, maybe they will use some brainwashed Skrulls (like they did with Carol Danvers). This can also be a way for them to isolate Fury, and make him look like an enemy (maybe even a Skrull). Talos did mention Kree sleeper cells on Earth in Spider-Man Far From Home, and the fact that a Kree like Mar-Vell can disguise her self as a high-ranking member in a secret project with access to the Tesseract, who is to say there aren't any more Kree doing the same?
why can't we just say what is a separate fraction of skrulls that want to conquer the earth or rule it?
after all I don't believe that the entire species are peaceful refugees.
I mean that's how it worked in the comic
Kree are Captain Marvel issues, this seems to be a SkrullxSkrullxHumanxHuman thing
@@nicholasfactor thanks👍🏽
I think when Furry is beamed down at the beginning of the trailer his body shape looks like the one of Frozone (voiced by Sam L Jackson) in The Incredibles movie.
Been waiting for this video! Thank you!
Are we just not gonna acknowledge the fact that he has no idea who Misty night is from the Luke Cage series? Like when I watch the trailer I was excited because I thought it would be the same Misty night considering they’re bringing daredevil and kingpin into MCU
SC: What if Rhody is a Skrull?
Dog: You mean like what if Rhody is Terrance Howard?
That’s great
Wasnt War Machine partially paralyzed?!.. he does seem pretty good now.. could be because its not Rhodes..
Nah Tony built him an exo suit. You can see it in endgame.
Tony built him a suit that you can see on his legs when he gets out of it and also when the hulk does the snap. When they’re waiting around and figuring out where the stones are
About russian sign on a door you are right. "Посторонним вход воспрещен" translates as "Unauthorized people are prohibited to enter", which is a russian version of "Authorized personnel only"
>
Thanks for this great breakdown!
Great breakdown but not all skrulls can duplicate powers only a few most notably Super Skrulls although who knows if the MCU might change that
The MCU tends to play by its own rules. Furthermore, in the comics the Skrulls have always been bad. In the MCU we're seeing that some of them are peaceful 🤔
@@agrey832 definitely agree also since there’s less skrulls in the MCU than a whole planet of them in the books I wouldn’t be upset if all skrulls can also duplicate powers
@@agrey832 Well, I do think that the best examples of this are the powers of Miss Marvel or the one that Apparently if you can order the infinity gems to self-destruct when in the comics it is made clear that this cannot be the case
Thats what I thought too.
1:43 Yeah I can see why you would say Close Encounters but Furys shadow really reminds me of the movie Mothman Prophecies...They used the same shadow alien effect.
That trailer was awesome! It looks like it might be the best mcu show to come off Disney plus
This may be my favorite of your videos! So many great moments 😊

Curiously, he does not mention Fury's new scar, which looks very different from what it looked like in " Winter Soldier".
What have you done to Doug? That Terrence Howard line was just too SAVAGE.
Nice queens gambit picture at 5:56
14:11. Carol Danvers: That's a Photon blast. Fury: **And?** Carol Danvers: A Skrull can't do that!
Hope to see Rhodey suit up in this series.
So many great actors in this series.. Can't wait!
Also, that was Gravik (played by Kingsley Ben-Adir) who is the Skrull covered in blood. Just wanna let you know. Awesome analysis!
An opinion I have about the part when “Talos is roaring”.
We see Talos working along side Fury a couple times in this trailer, we also know that Talos works with his wife quite a bit. I guess that Talos will be working with Fury because someone killer Talos’ wife in front of him. That is why we see him yelling (roaring).
Are we ignoring the fact that they’re slowly pushing that sock into this channel? Please please don’t!! Doug brings more than enough cuteness and sass... no weird sock necessary!
Terrific cast line up. Really can’t wait for this series
Damn it Ryan! another great video, you never miss.
love the content bro
yo in the ending what you said was really interesting 🔥🔥🔥
0:50 yeah honestly I agree, the dog fights were kind of confusing and hard to keep up with
This series makes me so excited all the different possibilities
Yooooooooo; it holds up! It’s the best movie ever made, the ingenuity of actual plans and real stunts alow you to be emerged into a story of perfection
You betta DRAG Top Gun Ryan!
Don Cheadle was a great villain in Space Jam 2, so I’m game for Evil Skrull Rodie!
Great video!
If Rhoady were a Skrull, that Skrull would have watched every cool movie dealing with time travel.
This looks ace. Can’t wait to see what they do with this. Great story.
WELL DONE!
Stargate has also a similiar episode, if i remember correctly its called something like "foothold". Where an alien form snatches people and stores them in a room.
I think Rhodes was replaced by a Skrull sometime between Iron Man 1 and Iron Man 2. He clearly looks different in IM2 than he did in IM1
Terrance Howard->Don Cheadle, I think you’re right! *wink wink*
Thanks Ryan!
12:16 Just described the entire "She-Hulk" franchise in a sentence!!! LoL
I love this bit of a customer asking for a specific movie and Ryan immediately dunking on that movie
Bud... You make my head spin, especially when I'm... 'relaxing' 😉
Huge Marvel fan, in a 'casual' sort of way... Never read a comic, but totally blown away by their movies. A lot of the backstory escapes me as a consequence, so I'm loving the insights... lots of 'lightbulb moments' TY! ❤
... Amped for this series btw... looks like I'll be renewing Disney+ 😁
Werewolf by Night breakdown soon hopefully
OooOo, I can't wait for this show
Those woods are a great reference to the 'Dark Forest' theorem on alien life
A really good video!
That Terrance Howard line took me right on out
Good job. Your pup is a pretty good actor, too.
10:03 - Also The King Of England from Darkest Hour with Gary Oldman, a great movie.
Well done sir.
Ill be waiting on a video explaining the two separate Skrull factions.
I've said ever since damaged control were some skrulls when he mentioned nick was off planet.
@Ryan, Any thought about Valentina being a Skrull as well? We have pretty good evidence she is trying to assemble the Dark Avengers, much the way Fury put together the Avengers. She really is the antithesis of Fury and could make for an interesting plot twist as well.
There are other Shape Shifter races in Marvel Comics .
Maybe it's the Dire Wraiths
Hey Ryan, there's a liquid you can buy at petco for Doug's eyes. Those are dried tears that turned brown from the salt of the tears
Great video. Surprised there was no mention of Hulkling or potentially Super Skrull as Hulking's identity reveal was in that arc. (I mean Hulkling could be the thing they want)
Although I can see them just teasing it (Emilia Clark's comment about it being just the beginning) and saving it for Young Avengers since we haven't been shown any Kree.
Just because Soren knows something doesn't mean the Skrulls know. That's like saying the Humans know everything Peter Quill's learnt.
There's been a few strange lines, like the diagonal toast for Fury or sitting backwards on a train for Loki. Wonder if those things will be how we can tell real from not.
Looks really nice
Y'know, I wasn't paranoid about this series as of yet; even after watching the trailer, my paranoia only grew a slight amount. After watching this, my paranoia has ramped up significantly. Nice job!
That scene with the reactor, might shock you.. have you seen the imdb entrie for workman. That persons name seems familiar 🤫
