  • The modern Austrian artist Heinz Schölnhammer was born in 1940 in Vienna. He painted his first landscape at the age of 12.
The future artist studied the art of drawing in his homeland and in other countries - Italy, Germany and the Netherlands.
His skills were honed gradually, and this was facilitated not only by lectures from experienced teachers, but also by live communication with famous artists who managed to achieve certain successes and gain public recognition, including Otto Didrik Ottesen, Edouard Manet, Paul Cezanne.
He tried various techniques, experimented and searched for himself, his own unique style of painting.
In his quest for perfection, Heinz Schölnhammer learned to convey as accurately as possible all the colors of this world and create a new, ideal reality, which he so lacked.
To what direction of painting can the artist's works be attributed?
His paintings contain bright features of romanticism - all the objects of the artist's paintings are almost ideal and flawless.
Moreover, all of them are not executed in their usual form, but as the artist sees them - with his feelings and emotions caused by the contemplation of this or that object or event. And this is already a characteristic indicating impressionism.
Critics were never able to decide between these two styles, therefore, without further ado, such works were usually attributed to the style of "romantic impressionism".
But that's not all. The author's later paintings are attributed to the hyperrealism movement - the canvases display a completely objective reality, but do not copy the setting exactly. In other words, the artist adds some touches that, as he believes, will help to best experience the moment depicted in the painting.
