    This may not be the most popular take in 2024 but I want the fines. I like a more traditionally pulled shot. Higher body, longer extraction times and shorter ratios with most coffees. But that is a neat trick for those who don't.

    Regardless of price, I would not regard this as a good grinder. Limited to hot start with popcorning issues, it's like buying a torchlight that works on solar power. I would say DF64 Gen 2 would be a better value over the 064S, the spare change could even chip in to upgrade to SSP burrs.

      Should I get 064s which is the smaller version of the 078s correct? Or is the 078s have different features and much better grinder? Hopefully someone can help! Thanks

    My main issue with the 064s is the hopper design. It’s especially problematic if you use WDT, but even without it, the beans don’t always feed smoothly into the grinder. I constantly have to monitor it as it grinds, and if I step away, I often need to turn it on again when I return. While there are several 3D-printed hopper attachments that improve the mechanism, most are available only in the West, making shipping costs prohibitively expensive. If anyone knows of an Asian seller offering these hopper replacements, please let me know.
    Additionally, the grinder’s smallest grind size (even at zero) isn’t fine enough for some beans I’ve tried. In those cases, I switch to my Kinu M47. This could be a deal-breaker if the 064s is your only grinder and you need a finer grind than it can provide.

      Hi there regarding the hopper we do agree with your findings. Which country are you from? Usually you can just write to timemore directly and they should be able to sort things out for a steeper incline hopper.
      For the finest of the grind size, we would have to disagree with you on this. It might be that your zero isint a true zero. Try and check the calibration and see if you hear burss touching/chirping as you go finer.

      @@hisbrewcoffee I'm from the Philippines. The steep hopper is not available even from our official distributor.
      Supposed honestcoffeeguide's grind size is accurate, the zero on 064S is around 220 microns, thus, it also shows that the 064S is not capable with Turkish. Let me know what is your finest size when you set your 064S to zero.

    • @hisbrewcoffee
      @hisbrewcoffee  3 месяца назад

      @redchen3682 that is unfortunate, as we are also an official distributor for timemore and could get the parts. Just that shipping cost from My to PH will be too expensive.
      We don't have a grind size analyzed to accurately pin point but base on our experience and also testing at zero we were able to choke our espresso machine. In fact even at grind size 3 our machines were choking using several beans with different processing and origin.
      What we found out was that the unit we receive was not initially set at 'true zero. Hence it wasn't at its full limit initially.

      @hisbrewcoffee still, using honestcoffeeguide, it seems their measurement is accurate. For example, besides the Kinu M47, I also have the Timemore S3 and C3 ESP Pro. Based of their measurement, I have accurate grinds using their guide. I am using a Flair 58 and a VST precision basket. I don't think choking of the espresso machine is a good measure of a grinders capability.

      @@hisbrewcoffeeI don't think the choking of an espresso machine is a good measure of a grinder's capability. Maybe if you're just going to use one machine, sure. honestcoffeeguide is pretty accurate for me. I'm using a Flair 58 with a VST precision basket. And like they say, you always grind finer with the Flair 58 and also grind finer with a precision basket.

    "entry level" grinder for that price? I'm not saying that it's high end, but calling it entry level is just ridiculous.

    Or the niche zero which just seems easier to use and clean?

    • @artzuh
      @artzuh 2 месяца назад

      Niche zero is conical, so obviously another flavour. 064s can change burrs to SSP and coming from a niche zero I think the taste is much better and workflow is super. Although it uses more time.

    I have the 078S. Roast my own beans. I’ve had nothing but issues chasing grind size. I’ve had to re zero this grinder several times. Initially I thought the burrs needed to be seasoned. It’s not very consistent. However I started to play with the variable speed dial and I’m starting to get more consistent shots. I have purchased several Etsy 3D printed items. Side needle, hopper extension and a portafilter holder to dose directly into the portafilter. Overall I’m not satisfied. More than likely I’ll be selling it to purchase the Mazzer Philos. Cheers

      @@kylemessineo8542 I can’t speak to 064. Based on the specs it has a smaller watt motor which I would stay away from. I don’t know if I received a defective one or not. Timemore did give me “some” money back in the way of a refund. I ended up selling it and preordered my Philos.
