Husförhör - household examination

Household examination was a firm institution in Sweden for many centuries. Every year, all Swedes were catechize in their homes by the local vicar. Pre-modern Sweden took theology extremely seriously. Passive submission was not good enough for the church, but a deep understanding of the Christian doctrine was sought in all people.
