You've got such an eye for beautiful yarn and also the yarn from Chelsea is gorgeous! So happy for you that you got those opportunities to connect with other knitters.
I get so excited everytime I see a notification from you! I got so much knitting done on a cardigan that I've ignored for a bit. I get so inspired by the calm neutrals in your videos!
Wow so many gorgeous yarns! And the yarnswaps must have been so much fun! Loved this episode, also enjoyed whatching the bread, I'm a knitter, not a baker, but it was pretty satisfying.
The Isager yarns that come in skeins (such as Tvinni, Jensen, Spinni)are always 2 skeins á 50 g and then the label is wrapped around that. So what appears a one skein of 100 g will always be two that need to be wound up separately. As you got the yarn sponsored it might be that they gave out some skeins that were part of a whole 2-skein skein, if you know what I means. The 50 g skeins that perhaps got separated for swatches or projects of their own cannot be sold through their web shop, but they can be given out for an occasion like sponsoring yarn. Greetings from Cologne!
Oh no worries and thanks for sharing! Yes that's exactly what I thought. And of course I'm not ungrateful, I was just a bit surprised when I wound them off :)
@@marleneknits I never thought you ungrateful! And I know, I was also very surprised when I unpacked my first skein of Isager yarn when there were two...
LisaR : I had a "few" unintentional felted items I couldn't give up and saved as you have :) I did find a good use for them - It's simple & can take many different pathways. I cut the felted knitting into hearts , squares , circles etc. Some ,I used felt for both sides and some with fabric from leftovers , etc..sewed the two cut out sides together and stuffed ( add lavender or mint , whatever your favorite scents are ) .insert a ribbon or twine loop before closing the shape completely . It can be rustic or delicate - depending on how you decorate it - ( trims , add simple embroidery, Monogram , ...) hang on tree or use in closet hung on hangers or drawers, place in yarn storage with lavender or cedar :) Another good use : drink coasters or hot pads .. It's something that if you're in the mood to do is self perpetuating . cute little gifts or a tag for your knits .. maybe?❤
sounds like such a creative and special way to make use of something that seemed lost! I’ll think about it ☺️ I’m not a prolific seamstress so we’ll see!
Thank you for the sourdough content. It’s helpful to see how someone actually folds using certain techniques and to know that it is indeed meant to be that sticky. I’m impressed you did this while wearing a hand knit. I’d have sticky dough all over mine. 😊
another idea for weaving ends as you go. when i need to connect yarn and i knit in the round (there's no edge), the project is not lace, and the yarn's something grabby like wool (can be superwash), i tend to do this: i knit until i have something like 10cm left. next, i fold the end onto itself (create a loop), knit a couple of stitches, and pull the end of the new ball through the loop. next, i tention as usual, making sure i knit about 4 stitches on the new end before i let it go. as i usually knit top down, at the end, i'll turn the project to the wrong side and pull the ends half a stitch back (i don't like the ends to stick up for some reason 😄) and cut them, leaving about 1-1,5 cm for sport/dk weight superwash yarn. i haven't knit with very woolly wool yet but i assume that if i did, i could cut them shorter after the first washing? it should grab onto its friend well enough not to poke through to the right side. i actually like weaving the ends with a tapestry needle (i know, what a weirdo) but this is simply quicker and i found it more secure. i'm not sure if this is a no-brainer method or just a stupid idea. i just thought it must be "the thing to do" from when i started knitting up until i heard about different kinds of knots and weaving every end at the end. i'm usually left with only those at the beginning and the end of the project plus armholes (to make the slightly enlarged stitches on the sides smaller). if anyone reads this and thinks it's dumb, please tell me why it's risky and why another method would be better. i love to learn. ♥
Love how your Farnham test tee is coming along, the colours are so nice! For your fingering + lace combination, I was thinking about the Cottage cardigan by Jacqueline Cieslak, which is very high on my wish list. I think she suggests using just a fingering weight yarn, but it creates quite an airy gauge, so if you combine the two yarns it might give you gauge as well? Loved seeing your side of the yarn swap, and so lovely that you suggested each other which projects to use the yarn for.
ah yes, that one looks great! I was thinking about doing the april cardigan actually, which calls for fingering+lace and funnily enough Chelsea also had in mind when calculating the meterage, so.. 😌 that could be a good choice I think!
Loved this episode! Two cardigan patterns that immediately come to mind are the Field Day Cardigan by Ozetta (which is DK, but could probably work with fingering + lace) and the CARDI Jumper by Ines Oliveira, which is really high on my to-knit list and is a bit more unique.
thank you! :) the field day cardigan was also on my list and I actually have the cardi jumper in my library, but I’d probably use a different yarn combo for that! it’s gorgeous though 😌
That brushed suri alpaca is AMAZING! I am currently doing the april cardi just now, and it's such a fun construction. The champagne is a heavier weight and mine is quite heavy when i wear it, but it would also look amazing in that colour. Maybe the first cardigan, by hive knits? Great episode as always !!
How exiting to do a Yarn swap overseas!!! I would go for the champagne cardigan if you want to stay with Petiteknit. However im pretty sure the Yarn wouldnt be enought if you chose to do the Agnete bc brioche takes way more yarn! Exited to see what you decide on
So eine schöne episode! Für projekte mit lace + fingering: floof von Skeindeer knits, kuutar cardigan by Sari Nordlund oder Nostalgia + Timjami von anna johanna. Viel erfolg :)
My God, I really feel the part about there being an easy point of entry to a project. I've been putting off knitting the second sleeve to my sister's Aosta Sweater for WEEKS, simply because I'd have to pick up all the stitches. I know I can finish the sleeve in a day but the barrier of having to pick up the stitches is just fully keeping me from doing it.
The Åster Gilet by Nåle is a great cardigan pattern for fingering + mohair! It has a lovely subtle knot pattern on the bottom edge, that I thinks gives it something a little extra I recently made one myself and accidentally did the whole thing in 3mm instead if 4mm. I found out muuuch later after finishing it and was slapping myself in the face so much 😅
@@marleneknits I had to make some changes when decreasing in the sleeves because it was too tight, thinking back now, that should have been a red flag for me 😅 But yeah it worked out fine, the fabric is maybe a little less drapy than what it could have been, but I am really happy with it!
you probably don't have the felted hats anymore, but i just thought of a use for any felting disaster in the future! if you have a friend who has a rodent-like pet, you might ask them whether they'd like a little hiding spot for them. the same could go for jumpers, though i would consider sewing the arm holes shut and cutting the sleeves off to make sure they don't get stuck/confused and start panicking. the neck should be ok (and for bunnies actually preferable) as long as the pet can get easily through. my bunny is a monster who will chew through anything and any owner of such a pet might be understandably cautious about dyes used in the yarn but... it sounds safer than munching on PE courtains or chewing through blanket whenever one turns around (yes, my beloved pet is a menace ♥).
Enjoyed your podcast, as always! I think Dusty Artichoke 's friend might be Dusty Sea Green 🤔 not sure, though! I can't remember if you said it was a different composition to Dusty Artichoke
Hey, from my experience “knitting in pattern” is a pretty common term for continuing the pattern repeat. Even in german patterns you can find “stricke (weiter) im Muster”. But I do get that like with a lot of other knitting terms it’s not really intuitive. Nonetheless changing it would probably not make much sense, because you always have to start somewhere with new to you terminology 🙈And now for all the future patterns to come you know what the term means 😊 and your sweater turned out really beautiful
yeah, I get that.. I also thought, it might just be me interpreting the phrase differently - but like you said, now I‘ve learned and for my next project I‘ll know 😊 thank you!
@@marleneknits I continued thinking about it last night and the thing that is always üthe most helpful to me is when knitting designers do these little legends where they explain what the knitting terms mean to them in this pattern. I think in this case this could have been the solution as well 😊

Sorry for all the typos in my comment! The auto correct wreaked havoc on it and made things just worse…

thank you for your question Emily - I’ll be sure to answer this in the Q&A :)
