This one has more power due to octane fuel
the Mk.1 has a lower fuel load making it slightly lighter.
Overall I think this one is better
Pls Bf109 k4 with 30mm everything and tracers.
Other than stealth belts, does anyone know if DEFYN takes tracer belts for the 151 20mms? I thought I heard him say that, but he may have been talking about the intermediate action incendiaries for the 13mm. Switching to tracer rounds for late war American props and Shvacs , after watching his videos, greatly increased the lethality of my bursts.
i use stealth for the 151/20 and universal for the 7.92s/IAI for 13mms

@@wetzel1628 the j5n1 absolutely stomps this thing in a dogfight. Ki83 as well but it sheds more speed in prolonged engagements.
@@kingghidorah8106 in a dogfight basically anything will beat the hornet lol. The ki83/j5n1 would be a pain in the ass for the hornet cuz of the air spawn but that’s about it. If a hornet keeps its speed it’s untouchable to all piston engined airplanes, bar the p51h or maybe F2G. The hornet is massively faster than the j5n1 and ki83 while climbing better too
@@wetzel1628 the j5n1 has the ergonomy the hornet lacks and it will hold energy pretty well, it's not a "turn fight" per say cause anything wins, but about energy games.
defyn out here being an incredibly skilled player and making some of the most nuanced and educational content out there while still remaining very entertaining and he does not think he could hit 30k subs?

This thing is monstrous, it can actually outrun the P-51H at a lot of altitudes! Biggest speed advantage for the Hornet is at around 5300m, which also happens to be the speed at which the Hornet achieves its highest TAS, which is what matters for your energy state.
The Hornet is marginally faster than the P-51H on the deck, and gets faster with altitude... until the hornet hits the supercharger gear switch altitude and shoots itself in the foot. Its speed just goes to sh* lol.
What alt is that?
@@r-saint Supercharger gear switch alt? It depends on some map-specific factors, and your speed (due to ram air), but it should be around:
WEP: 2200m
100%: 4300m
Got those while climbing.
At high speed, the switch altitude is around 2700m while WEPing.
I made a graph comparing the speed of the P-51H and Hornet Mk III with the help of a friend. You can see it on AdamTheEnginerd's video on the Hornet. (0:16 of the video)

@@5000mahmud Well, absolutely not. While WEP becomes a bit less effective, you still get more power.
And it becomes more effective again at higher altitude. You'd want to stop WEPing if it had limited WEP, but it has unlimited WEP. Plus, when you spawn, your initial speed lets you zoom climb well above your gear switch altitude immediately.
If you keep rads at around 10-15%, you can WEP the entire game, you can't run out of fuel even at min fuel.
The only thing you need to remember, is that your worst performance is at your gear switch altitude.

I can't tell you how many times I've forgotten that the Hornet exists, only to remember just in time to get dunked on.
WoW them clouds are looking mighty realistic these days from 18:30 to 20:00 that one looks pretty serious behind the Hornet :)
Love the long drawn out fight, and the payoff in the end with the 1.2km shot was great.

Also very nice that "playing it right" is saying "go" in chat and refusing every dogfight where there is a slight chance you might get shot down while running away and trying to climb into the stratosphere, that's obviously why those planes were made and how wars where won lmao, what a "dogfight" that is.
The power of this thing makes it so fun to fly. The lack of maneuverability can make it frustrating at times though.

Me and my friend played against you in the Hornet Mk3 and CM Reaper in a Corsair for 3 games in a row a few years ago when you were making a hornet video. Me in my BF109k4 then my Ta152H and my friends in his BF109G-10 for all 3. Good times with you and me playing strengths at altitude, my friend messing up and getting killed by you or Reaper, then would be me vs your team while we were going at it. Back in the days of your in-game being DEFYN too.

I love playing this thing, but its so passive to play. You can always get the energy advantage in the long term, but you need to have a big energy advantage if you want to actually play aggressive at all unless you know your opponent is terrible and you won't get 3rd partied.

At 5.3 was ok, worse climb than the g-14 but better high alt performance
I always found the g10 to be very good! I think the sat card comparison to the g14 dosen't do it justice. It feels light and nimble compared to the 14 but it still has that 109 power.

My Ta-152H encounters vs Hornet were a pure pain because of the speed advantage. It usually turned into a stalemate of climb + run. The only way to kill Hornet was to 3rd party it, or to bait it into attacking and pulling off some v. v. slick reversal. Absolute nightmare.
I'd love to play more Ta-152H (and a few other german planes in the 5.0-6.0 range), but the current meta makes it extremely not fun, especially in smaller matches with 4 Ju-288.

Its always fun fighting overconfident Germans with twin engine interceptors/fighters like the P-38 and hornet simply because they think Any twin engine prop plane is easy food them until they realized they got out turned, out played and outgunned.
The Italians however are fearless and die hard that I always see them above me when I should be above them at 5km alt from start to mid game

Hornet is a pain to fly. Its elevator is one of the worst of all fighters in this game. Any decent player will just dive when you over his head. Then if you miss the first pass, you are forced to run or disengage.
Something like Ki-83 can fly circles around it, just as Ki-84.

Around 16:14 how are you staying for so long in orange overheating without damaging your engines? Is there a timer? How does it work?
Engines only start to take overheat damage when the temps are red and blinking

Even though it's very annoying, I can appreciate people using clouds in this manner. Especially since clouds used to be hot garbage.
I want to get started on this game but I heard the grind is horrible, I don't know if its frowned upon but I literally just want to play the modern jets which are all the way down there. I do care about ww1/2 aircraft but I just think that modern jets are objectively cooler and there the only ones I want to play. So I thought let me take a 4-7 months to grind this out so I can truly enjoy the game. Then I see everyone talking about how they haven't gotten phantoms even with 300+hrs and I just don't want to wait that long. Also the in game economy doesn't make sense to me from a gameplay standpoint. Like why do I have to repair planes every time I want to play? Thats the reason I grinded towards that plane. I get the game is realistic which is one of the things I admire about it but from a video game standpoint I find it fundamentally frustrating. I'm used to grind and redundant game features and putting myself through pain to achieve something but damn, this game takes it to a new level and I respect tf out of you chads for even getting past r3. It hurts so much to watch gameplay of the game bc I want to play it so fkn bad. Maybe some day.
