Go man! I thought I was old, lol, I started 2 years ago, now 67, I only have about 35 trees but always on the lookout for suitable material, haven't spent much yet, love it
Am I in the oldies section? Just want to make sure. I started four years ago at sixty, and have had an adventure with the process. Love every minute of it. Keep on growin! Remember what Bob Dylan said.
Hi, in the UK at the moment it is very wet and cold constantly which is not good for our trees especially Junipers and some soft wooded trees of mine, we have a lot of snow as well as rain which is making life very difficult at the moment, we are not having a good autumn and into winter. I have a small greenhouse to protect a couple of tree, so I am constantly having to watch them as they build up moss on The trunks, It is vital that moss build up is cleaned off as it will rot the bark. The cutters you are showing I was promised a pair some time ago by one of your stuff which I haven't received yet.
I never even thought about whether it was too late for me to start bonsai (also 40). I just figured that it'll take me 5-6 years to develop the trunk with trunk chops and wiring the new leader, and then another 3-4 for branch structure and ramification 🤷♂️ ... Plenty of time!
as i understand dr chang, we should acknowledge traditional shapes/styles **To A Point**. after that, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder which will leads to a "Custom Bonsai" of your very own. starting the art of Bonsai at 68 yrs old, i strongly believe in what dr chang promotes here.👍👍😉
Milton, I see clippers of the design you show on Amazon, but not the Bonsai Heirloom clippers. Did you mean that BH are available there, or just the design? The new feature of commenting on photo trees sent to you is good . . . hope it continues. Best wishes for Thanksgiving.
Happy thanks giving to you too. We checked out several suppliers in China...and pick the one that has the best. Not sure it is the same supplier as Amazon. We will ship out one with each of our tree initially...But hard to handle small sales ...so will not be selling individually.
Hello Mr Chang. I have a question that has been bothering me for some time - how rare are bonsai with leaves that are red all year round and why don't we see them in any videos? I follow several channels, but apart from the deshojo maple, which has red leaves in the spring, I don't see any other species. Is it for an aesthetic reason (branches are better seen in the contrast of green leaves-brown or gray bark of the tree) or simply there are no such types of trees in the climate where you come from). In my environment I have several types of trees that have red leaves (beech, wild plum- Prunus cerasifera) that I think would make beautiful bonsai. What do you think about it? Best wishes. Milan
Yes, there are red leaf trees that can be made into bonsai. You can find named varieties of flowerng plum and red leaf crab apple trees and red Japanese maple (although leaf then to be large) with read leafs as well that can be made into bonsai with red leaf during the summer months. Have fun!
I don't know how to get entered into your bonsai raffle giveaway. I go to your website and attempt to give you my email address but there is no confirmation that you got it. It seems a little sketchy. I don't see any way to enter the raffle. By the way, if somehow I am chosen, I would like to receive my bonsai right away. I can acclimate. And, if I have a choice, I would prefer a deciduous tree that tolerates part shade. 😎 Thank you for the work that you are doing. I hope you have my email address so that I can get your sales list when you offer it.
Found the age question interesting. I started six years ago at the age of 76 and still enjoying it.
