Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge brother. Started fishing 2 years ago, I fish once a week and have had no luck. That changed after I saw one of your videos and I want to say I appreciate you, no, I love you my brother. Thank so very very very much.
I'm watching your fish finder videos and they are definitely the best, easiest to understand finder videos on RUclips. I'll never have the kinds you have. I just got a deeper pro+ 2. And I love it. But you have taught me at LEAST 95% of what I know. Everything else is the most basic of basic stuff.....like what shape it is. Lol It would be awesome for some updated fish finder videos. I would love to see a video on fish finders for a lower budget, like the deeper.
@@straightwhitemale5753 Yep. I’ve been testing for Simrad since 2004 when they were still Northstar. The Go series with transducer that has chart plotter AND maps, 3 different types of sonar including downscan. Sidescan. 2 CHIRP bands and 2 fixed frequencies in 2D sonar. Plus wifi to mirror to your phone or tablet. That’s just the basic features. You can get a 5” screen with transducer for around $599. Ready for use. I’ve seen it on sale for $450. With all due respect, If you own a boat and take people out this is the BARE minimum in safety equipment. You MUST have a way to tell depth and a chart plotter for safe navigation. Seriously brother, it doesn’t matter what brand you buy, but get SOMETHING. We are responsible for every soul we take on the water. If you run aground or hit an obstruction with passengers you will lose everything you own if you survive and a passenger doesn’t or is seriously injured. When they find that you had no safety or navigational aids it will go badly for you. I’m not trying to preach or give you a hard time. You appear to be the close age of my sons and I would hope that someone would give them advice that could save their lives. Thanks for the support and the comments!! I really appreciate that. Please be safe out there brother!! When you get a unit I will help you set it up by text, no problem, it’s easy, but even if it takes 1000 texts I’m here to help. For free👍👍👍👍
@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS EXACTLY. I had an inflatable boat, used it once and now I'm selling it. I don't want to be 3 miles up river and the winder blow us into a stump or I drive over a branch and like you said, lose everything and risk injury or worse. I'm glad you mentioned that. That's one of the main reasons I want a fish finder. That and I'm the worse "fisherman" to walk the earth. Lol The Deeper is a really good castable fish finder. It would be cool seeing you do a review on it. I've been wanting a real fish finder but.....I don't have a boat so the deeper is the best option. I plan on getting a job boat and I will be getting a "realer" one. Ill definitely look into the ones you suggest and I'll definitely contact you then when I do. Thank you.
@@straightwhitemale5753 excellent!! I feel better. I will see if I can get up with a buddy of mine. He’s the Poconos fishing guy. He uses Deeper and works with that company. He’s got good info on it. If you do get a boat or kayak hit me up when you’re ready for a plotter. I’ll help you however I can. 👍👍👍. Thanks again for the comments and support!!! 🙏🙏
this was great Mike! really enjoy the sonar info. got me wanting to go look for a snotchel big time! Old School sharing valuable information! Class act!!
It doesn’t come any more simple than that, and Mike truly appreciate the information and teaching you give, even though I haven’t been out for Stripers yet,but I will be trying everything you been drilling into my thick French,Irish and Portuguese head ❤😂🤣
Mike, any tips to get the fish finder to read more consistently while running? I have some luck at around 25 mph but it’s reading somewhat inconsistently .
Mike any possibility of a zippered hoodie in the future, I would love to support you but I find myself never wearing my pullover hoodies, great video as usual brother.
@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS thanks mike, that would be great, I just find it a pain in the arse to take off when it gets warm, you wouldn’t believe how hard it is to find a nice zippered hoodie these days that I want to support, if you can just let us or me know on a video or RUclips reply that you have them.

Hey mike i have watched all your videos on adjusting fish finders to get more accurate readings, i have a hummingbird and it just dosent mark fisg properly i can count on one hand the amount of times ive clearly marked a banana , what kind of fisg finder do you reccomend i get? I have a 17' whaler and the deepest i fish is like 60 70' max
For the same display I use this is a good deal amzn.to/3I8aJEu. It’s really the best you can get and a good times to get it because the newer version came out last year and the price on this one dropped. (The newer one is great, but not much of an upgrade to be honest) amzn.to/3I8aJEu. This transducer gives you the same side scan and downscan I use plus a pretty good high and med CHIRP 2D sonar. Plus you can always add a high end CHIRP transducer to the system later and use two transducers like I do. amzn.to/3pyNInH. This blows the HB away. 👍👍
Thanks alot Mike your the absolute GOAT👍 I am looking forword to targeting stripers and blues I only used my boat for fluke/ bsb and tog last year and I'm so exited to start trolling jigging for cows this year using your methods

But I noticed you mainly focus on that brand today.
