Thank you for making these talks available on RUclips. Whenever I listen in on these truth opening discourses, I always tune my ears for additional written works of the reformers and puritans to read. Just finished Owen's "Mortification of Sin" in prep to...hopefully, write a book on progressive sanctification. Now, I'm off to find his other works, such as 'The Reason of Faith,' as referenced here by Dr. Reeves. It's like mining for gold nuggets. ☺
Read the very first sermon in The Second Chapter of Acts...then the desired result, a big question from the hearers. Then Peter discloses The Keys to The Kingdom!!! Obedience is not works, Brother! It's just extremely wise to obey! You love your children but you realize their need to obey, right?
"Then Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world-to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.” John 18:37
Brilliant. Thank you for reminding me of these great truths and refreshing my soul. The Puritans are not my idols, though that is a temptation, they are my guides into the glory of Christ.
Even the term given them shows the change in one's life towards holiness and away from carnality. We actually grow in grace and in the knowledge of Christ Our Savior!
Protestants' view of justification as not effecting an inner change in them seems to leave them complacent about continuing to sin, rather than trusting in the power of God's grace to enable us to "go and sin no more", as Christ commands.
We are going through his teaching on the Reformation and the Puritans - love his style.
Wait, wrong Michael reeves
I thought the RUclipsr Michael Reeves would talk about something

This is a great man… a God man.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
