    Rick, good tech Tuesday reminder on the DCT filter & Chucks reminder to inform the service advisor that the additional trans fluid has been added. Make sure the advisor notes it on the work detail sheet. The beautiful ride segment - such spectacular care is shown here. Owners of Corvettes = SPECIAL ENTHUSIASTS.

    Major problem with DCT transmissions. GM has opened an investigation.

    • @jamesnoahandersonjr76
      @jamesnoahandersonjr76 2 года назад +1

      It was done on purpose to get credit for better gas mileage so they underfilled the transmission purposely to get credit for the EPA mileage.
      "In 95% of C8 transmission problems, it is because the fluid pickup gulped air at the back of the DCT trans pan...Steep downslopes can cause it to occur or heavy braking, the dct fluid sloshes forward and the pickup gulps air. When a shift is commanded, it had hydraulic fluid to physically engage one shaft/clutch in the dct but not the fluid necessary to do the other... so gearing/components that should never conflict.... Do Conflict. The end of the dct. (either instantly or inevitably with time and further wear) New dct needed.
      Meanwhile, BG is bottlenecked by dct production. So asking GM for a new dct is like asking them for a new car It's not 20g you are asking for...That DCT is the bottleneck ingredient which is slowing down BG. They lose an entire 80g c8 sale when they give you the dct instead of BG. 20 and 80... It's 100g swing to them, to part ways with a dct in a warranty claim
      Adding the extra 2 quarts solves it from ever happening in the first place. We tried to explain to everyone to do this and the "experts" did everything to correct us and tell us we were wrong. So we gave up for a while. We knew there would eventually be 100 posts with broken c8's in the shop and with rough shifting characteristics, and then maybe you guys would be willing to listen instead of argue. Gm avoided the final 2 quarts to get 10s of millions of dollars in epa credits because that's how much epa credits are worth to a manufacturer.
      The Under fill is so the car gets better gas mileage. The underfill is much less friction at highway speeds, better highway gas mileage without the final 2 quarts added. the parts rotating in the DCT are either up in the air or they are in a thick oil The thick oil is additional resistance which adds up during 30 miles of 70mph cruising, aka, roughly 1 gallon of fuel consumption.

    Awesome tech Tuesday Rick!!! Seeing the filters at the change interval really was eye opening!!! Those things get really dark quite quickly when you drive the wheels off these amazing C8’s!!! It was sweet to hear that that C8-R edition is headed here to Montana!!! I hope it ends up here in Missoula!!! I’ve only seen 5 of these unbelievable dream machines here and not often! Absolutely Love the ride segment! You had Emilia Hartford in it!!! Still dreaming but one day I’ll be driving!!!!!!

      @@arthurculver2773 well if it's underfilled any transmission would have more friction on it, I can tell you about this but Rick can't because he's an employee of GM, and if they said anything officially they would get fined by the EPA. Rick in another video even said that if you're going to use the car for the track you should put in two extra quarts, hint hint hint, they know. The transmission is made by tremec, they've been making transmissions forever if you can't trust them who could you trust?

If you don't understand that go to Corvette forum and read it there. Put the two quarts in. No charge .Dealer should add 21/2 qts. DCT fluid, changes filter, changed engine oil and filter at 6200 miles. All at no charge.
