"on the plus side of $5000/year...Ouch!" Amazing how easy it is eh? That's a little shy of $100 per week. Picking up a dinner tab for three is about all it takes, or going for lunch during the week and a modest weekend dinner out with the wife will get you there.
Excellent! We never were ones to eat out a lot, maybe once a month tops, but one of the things we did to crack down to get completely out of debt was to cut that out entirely and within two years, we paid off the house. We did not feel cheated or deprived. It was far more exciting to watch that principal get lower and lower as we put dime we saved onto it.
To get a true reflection on the total savings you needed to deduct to cost of all the meal replacement bars, water, food you have prepared yourself for travel and the cost of eating at home when you were eating out. This will then give you a true saving. Good to see you still spend a little, everyone needs a treat once in a while.
I've been criticized for some 'things' I own, like an in home freeze dryer, I've been told, 'well YOU can afford those things'. When I tell these people that I quit smoking, I don't eat out, I don't drink alcohol, I rarely buy new clothes, I buy spices by the pound for only a bit over what a bottle in the supermarket costs, i plant a garden, I don't have a car payment, or full coverage insurance, and I shop sales, etc, then they say I'm judgemental.... LMAO. Sometimes you just can't win...
We "went frugal" in 2012 but THIS is still our spend-problem. We only eat at "sustainably-sourced" retaurants which are at a distance from our home (gas $) and are pricey. We need to just stay home. ;) Thanks for the budget breakdown.
My wife and I just love your videos. We think the same as you guys. Not only have we cut back on eating out, but just by not having cable TV, we have saved $15,600.00 in the last 13 years. YEAH!!!!! I love your canning vids. I started pressure canning about a year ago and I have the same brand pressure cooker as you. I started out with chicken, beef and pork so that I have a spread for sandwiches for lunches. Yesterday I canned 13 quarts of potatoes. OMG !!! They are out of this world. Keep up the good work. It is really nice to see how you do your canning. It just gives me that boost to do more. Thank you so much.!!!! Warren and Rhonda
When going out to run errands, make a list of places to go and organize them to far one 1st and grocery last, then fuel up. Always have a full or 3/4 full tank and you will never regret it in the night if you need to go somewhere. saving you money in the long run.
I 'm not sure what's not to like about these tips. 👍 We have cut eating out significantly but with working full-time and caregiver responsibilities it is difficult to have food prepped for tasty, nutritious meals. Having pre planned, prepped meals is helpful. Thanks for the tips, Jamie.
I've eaten out less than 10 times over he last 15 years. I calculated I've saved about $35,000. I don;t miss it in the least. The money I've saved has allowed me to stock my main pantry as well as my long-term prepper pantry and 2 freezers with everything I ever want. Nowadays I only go to the grocery every couple months and it's mainly for certain fresh produce items that don't keep well. I could go well over 2 years without buying a thing if necessary.
I eat out every Friday for lunch at work and I go for an Ice cap and sandwich combo at Tim Horton's every Saturday. Its BAD I know! I don't eat out at expensive restaurants but it still amounts to about $1300 a year just for that! I've calculated this before but I seem to want to treat myself! Time to cut back!
You are totally correct! I know people who hit the coffee shop a couple times a day. 5 bucks doesn't sound like much, but when it's 2 or 3 times a day, it is alot. Another thing to be aware of is beer or booze. It adds up fast. Some things just can't be eliminated though... LOL!!!
hi jamie, im 26 and married. And i am so lucky to find your channel. i also want to live homestead but my husband's job is here in the city and right now we cannot afford to quit his job. and i am happy that by watching your channel, i am preparing myself in case we can already live homestead. And i love all your canning and pantry videos. i want you to know that someone from the philippines loves your channel so much, much you are helpinh and a lot of people in diff countries. God bless you and your family! :)
Very good advise Jamie =) Living on a fixed income .... all but a ONCE A MONTH TREAT ONE MEAL under $20 ( tip and all ) on eat out meal all others meals are home cooked meals ..... yes you can save a BUNCH of Money 8-)
We would save around $1200/year. We have tried cutting it in half but it can be a struggle with small children, not getting much sleep and feeling tired all the time. We like the breaks sometimes.
We hardly ever dine out! I just finished a batch of peanut butter oatmeal bars. Dropped the store bought version a few months ago. Big savings was making homemade cloth replacements for paper towels. Amazing how we we're just tossing money away.
Very good points Jamie. Due to time restraints with work and other obligations, we got in the habit of buying prepared meals that we put in the microwave for dinner. As far as lunches and breakfast we stop at the store and get something. We are going to start making meals on Saturday's when we both have the day off, and freeze the potions for the week. Just a rough estimate we believe well save almost $150 a week. It's amazing how fast things add up.
We go to Sam's Club and after buying things in bulk I treat my wife get a hotdog and a drink and we split a cup of ice cream and that comes to little over five dollars we are on a fixed income Social Security thank you 😊 for sharing and thanks for all the good tips God bless
It’s sad but our main entertainment is eating out. And I’m going to say we probably spend about $10,000 a year eating out. I can see we could do better on that thanks for helping me think about it.
We could certainly stand to stop eating out so much. We're horrible about it. I don't think I want to add up the amount of money we've spent eating out. :-( But you're absolutely right Jaime! It adds up and in my opinion, it adds up faster than we'd like to think. :-(
Taking each of my grandkids to their favorite place is priceless....they spill their guts, savor alone time with Grandma, and create memories. Every dollar is well spent. It was just my birthday and the Drummer took me to dinner where I FINALLY tasted foie gras. What a treat and a memory. Depending on outside eating is foolish, healthwise and costwise, but humans have socialized over special food since forever. I will wear repaired and embellished clothes before cutting the fun of eating out in moderation.
When I was a little girl, the biggest reward I was given was to be taken out to dinner. Maybe twice a year in our small town. Now I allow for once a month, but I often come away disappointed. Your savings are good ones. Food prices are huge. Grocery item size is getting tiny, but it cost more. Better to reward myself in a new way.
+Bonnie O'Doon I used to think the same: dining out was a treat. I've come to realize nothing tastes as good as what I can make here at home and I can do it a whole lot cheaper. My reward is saving money for the homestead I want someday 😉
I just finished shopping and stocking up.. I shop every 2 weeks on payday.. including things for my cats, I spent around $200, that is for 3 meals 7 days a week and feeds me and 2 cats. I've been doing Bento boxes for over a year now and pack my yogurt in a glass pyrex storage bowl with lid, take some granola and dried fruit.. then pack snacks (fruit and maybe a salty for afternoon snack).. then cook from scratch. I'm eating better and have lost over 25 lbs in a year just by change of diet.. removed all sodas, prepackaged etc. (allergic to soy so that prompted that one). Feel much better even being over 50. Blood work is much better and dr is very happy with the improvements in my overall health.
This is also a good time to start saving, because there is the Christmas madness coming - well for some, I don't get too wrapped up but I know a lot of people do and that's a lot of money to go into a Christmas fund and stay out of debt.
My wife and I, when we go out, often split a single order. We found that most meals are well more than a single person should eat in a single sitting. You need to pay attention though. Some places charge a "split" fee. In that case what we do is have one of us order a side salad as a meal and the other order the main coarse. A bit after the meal is served we then ask for an additional plate and take care of the splitting ourselves. Not only does this cut down on the cost (almost half) of eating out, but also allows us to have room for desert, both in cost and in our belly. We drink water instead of soda. That's worth another $10 a meal. Lots of little tricks, but nothing beats not going out at all to save money.
Kudos to you! Until several years ago, our dining/drinking spending was insane. Haven't run the numbers for a couple years (admittedly don't keep track of every penny like I did initially) but will say that our savings in the first "oh crap, something has to change" year was well over $5000! When you track the money going out it's nauseating.... Today we are happier and much healthier - physically and financially!
That brings some perspective to the table. :) I haven't started canning yet (learning from your videos) but I do freeze meals. Any thing that is in a cardboard box or bag in the freezer section in the grocery store means that I can do the same and I control the ingredients, and the food freezes just fine and is good when reheated. I also try to freeze a lunch serving from each meal, so if I don't have time or just don't want to prepare it...grab a lunch container out of the freezer and I have lunch...that saves a ton of $. I have co-workers that spend $10-$12 a DAY for lunch 5 days a week...
Good to know how much we would have saved IF we would go out 😊 There was a year we did go one night a week, I usually ordered a baked potato and a spinach salad lol
I stopped eating out long ago. My exhusband had 500 euro's spendingmoney a week and most of it was on takeout for his colleges which probertly didn't pitch in. When I asked him he had no idea where the money went. Now I'm very aware on what I spent eating out. I tread myself on a tiny holiday every 3 weeks for about 3euro's makes 60 a year and I take my parents out for a drink in my summerholiday abroad, cause they end up paying my travel and stay. It's the least I can do. Eveningmeals I cook at the campsite so my mom gets a bit of holidayfeel aswell.
Great video! I stopped dining out to save money and NOT to ingest GMO food. I also bring my favorite bars, water, & ice tea on the go and pack an organic wholesome lunch.
Two dollars a week on dining out. Not bad. Over the next 10 years your kids may be moved out so the savings will be more. Coffee and water bought at gas stations is a huge waste that can be saved on. They charge more for that and make more profit on it than on petrol.
Saving big by not eating out goes tight with meal planning and using items in fridge, freezer and pantry. I have been married for 13 years and for a long time my biggest problem was buying meats and other things on sale and putting it in the freezer. And then when I was thinking what to make i would buy fresh meats because there was no time for thawing out. Meal planning is so exciting because I stay on top of my budget, I know i am using things in the pantry and the freezer and I am not wasting fresh veggies.
great tips! I probably spend about $250/year eating out, & I know I could shave some cost from that still. I love your idea about grabbing food in a pinch from the grocery rather than fast food/convenience store; that's something I could do more of. if I do eat out, I always ask for the specials & only drink water (with lemon: it's free & good for you), but my favorite trick is hitting the Chinese buffet before the lunch hour prices are over & eating enough to pretty much get me through the rest of the day lol.
You are so right about not eating out. I live in the country, when I'm hungry I make food. Simple. Cheap. My girlfriend still lives in the city, where eating out is part of the culture. Busy people, busy lives, lots of restaurants. Every time I would visit I would spend so much for meals out, even simple ones, and it would always kind of bother me, thinking about how much I was spending versus what I would spend buying and preparing my simple meals at home. We had a talk about it and she definitely respected my point of view, but she also enjoys the social aspect of going out with friends, which I understand. So we have a compromise, she is making a lot more food at home now, she orders food from a Blue Apron type of setup because she doesn't always feel confident in her ability to cook from scratch, or want to spend the time to do it. I'm not into that sort of thing, personally, but respect her decision. And I put my money where my mouth is and often bring premade meals when I visit that we can share. And when she visits me, well, obviously, she eats very well. Hmm, now I'm hungry! Enjoyed the video, thanks.
We make our own stuff at home. Buying oatmeal and dries fruit at Sam's and making my own granola or fruit bars. No bottled water here. A thermos of water is good. I love saving money.. I was a single Mom for a long time and money was stretched, it made me aware of all the luxuries other people spend money on that can be made at home. Great tips!
I'd say we eat out twice a month, sometimes just lunch or an appetizer and a beer. It does add up but it's good for our marriage so we budget for it. On the positive side we don't like chain restaurants so don't go to those so when we do go out its supporting a local business. I guess I see that as a good thing. When we travel, again, we splurge and eat out every night at great places and it is expensive but it's part of our vacation that we love so it's included in our vacation allowance. Great video as always😀
Okay, different perspective on this: Quite simply, sometimes I just want to be waited on. Sometimes, I don't want to have a kitchen to clean up. Sometimes, I don't want to cook, or I feel too rushed or tired to cook. Sometimes, I want to order something I like but maybe the rest of the family doesn't so I don't ever make it. Or, I want something I consider too fussy to make. When I'm not working full time, I will likely be more willing to give up dining out. But while Momma is still workin -- we're going to go out once in awhile where someone brings me many cups of coffee and takes the dirty dishes away -- a little slice of heaven! LOL!
Honset to goodness.. I've never understood going out to buy coffee. I wouldn't be able to drive to get the coffee before I had coffee! lol.. great advice.. those number sure add up. Peace ~L
Thank you for this. I am having to buy a lawn tractor and having a lot of anxiety about it. I know it's needed. But so far we have not had to spend this much. It's a 2800 dollar tractor but we are getting it for 1900. I still fill like it's too much. I would like to get something used cheaper but it's that we can't find anyone selling what we need. I have searched three of the largest cities around us. So hearing this is what I needed. We still get food out. Usually to go. But I would like to stop that by having what we need fix in the pressure cooker or prepared the day before we need to go to the city. We did get lucky one Saturday a young man who works for us sometimes is the manager at a Mexican restaurant in town and when we placed an order to go week before last he met us at the door with our meal free of charge. Sweet guy. So it's nice to see in our new very small town neighbors have our back. And want us to do better, and save. But we need to make more of an effort. I will say when we do eat out we only eat half of our food and have the rest the next day. Mostly because portions are so large. But back to saving. I have to make up this lawn tractor money some where. I used to coupon a lot, really it was my daughter. She's awesome. At age 11 she was an extreme coupler out of necessity. I came down with psoriatic arthritis and could not walk for nearly two years. So work was impossible. I am totally disabled and I guess that's where this fear of not having enough money stems from. Fear is not of God. But not managing the things he has blessed us with is not honoring him either. So in four hours we are supposed to pick up the tractor. I am going to spend some time in prayer. Praying something comes up that's a better financial move. And when that idea of eating food out comes up I will remember your video. And try very hard to hang on to the money. Thank you for reminding me that it's better for our health as well as our pocket book to eat at home. Please let us know how you make decisions about equipment at your place. Do you have an amount set aside each month? God bless you, Leslye
I spend 6850 a year eating outside home 🏡 I need to stop eating fast food .. not healthy and a way to waste money .. I'm going to only eat Sunday's only .. yes I can thanks for vid .. have a great day 😀
Guildbrook Farm | Simple Sustainable Living yes I'm going to build a wooden box and put a lock 🔐 on it right now and I'm going to put 20 dlls a day and going to open it at the end of the year .. to see how much money 💰 I save ., I'm going to start to tomorrow I will do it ..
In A ustralia it is perfectly legal to brew your own beer and to distill your own spirits so long as you are not selling it to others so if you like alcohol you can still have it but much chaper
I so need to get better at this. We spend about $100 a week eating out for lunch while at work. Sometimes there are no leftovers from dinner to take for lunches. I have a teen boy that eats like crazy and doesn't gain an ounce. But I should pack sandwiches or plan better. Food for thought!
Debbie Flores I used to have one of those....the teenage boy that could eat us out of house and home! Instead of eating a granola bar, he'd eat a box of 6-8 after school, BEFORE dinner!! I still cook for more mouths per meal and put up the rest for lunch, lazy night when I don't feel like cooking, etc. Husband took mini fridge to work- really expands lunch options.
From UK: We save money by not eating out £20 TO £40 pre week. We don't drink or smoke Saving us £60 to £90 a week. We limited our electricity to £2 a day and Gas £2 a day with help of a smart meter and Not watching tv, low energy light bulbs and times. We all go to bed at the same time. Saving £30 pre week. Make our own birthday and Christmas and Easter cards witch the kids love to do. Make our on sweets and chocolates and Easter eggs saving about £70 pre year. Food buying in bulk and alway looking out for special offers, but in the UK prices go up each week even with the offers. We buy the same things each week and no top up shops. We make do with what we got. Growing veggie helps too cut the Shopping Bill. By £13 pre week we started canning now thanks to your videos on cannings. Making A pantry. Saving us money because we can see what we got and have ran out of. help with shopping trips.
I actually do not like to eat out. I like to be relaxed, eat exactly what I want and how I want it, so home is best. :) However once in a while I take my son to have some good ice cream (like Salt & Straw). In the restaurant people pay for service, not for quality, so for the same price we can eat much better quality food, if we make it ourselves.
I always trust home cooked foods much more. I've been sick twice in my life after eating out. One thing to always remember is low paid unhappy people that work in fast food and restaurants are not all caring about the customers health and safety. Some would scratch their bum or pick their nose and continue to prepare your food. Some places show the food being prepared in front of you like Tim Hortons are a little more trustable because they have a good system with disposable gloves, but its not perfect as I see clothing dangling over food prep as employees reach behind to grab something! Plus many things come from the kitchen that you can't see. Still I eat out minimally. I've got to stop!
{gulp}...we budget $150/mo for eating out and entertainment. Never really sat and thought about that too much. Now that we are in the process of moving to a more secluded/rural location (nearest of ANY town is 25 miles), that should be easily cut back. Even if we weren't moving, after contemplating it, I would cut that budget amount in half.
I havent gone to eat out unless someone else is buying for at least 3 years. Also havent kept soda in my house in years either. Really dont miss eating out at all.
I have to say... I'm so impressed with your channel. You guys really think things through, are incredibly thorough, articulate, and entertaining! I've been binge watching as I get things done here. My 12 yo daughter and I watched your video on the Nepal earthquake, it really helped her understand why we are shifting our life to a more sustainable, preparatory type of life. Thank you, and best of luck to you and yours!
Your subscribers are growing FAST! 2K in a few day! Great job. I came across your canning video and then a few videos more, I became your subscriber. Thank you for sharing your stories and your journey. You guys are down to earth. Look forward to more good videos like this :D
There is a course the my wife and I took several years ago. It is called Financial piece university. by Dave Ramsey. Well worth the time and $100 cost. Highly recommended.
Great video and thank you, I know this video will make some people sit back and think about where their extra money is going and hopefully help them to save money. When you garden, buy in bulk and buy on sale in quantity you can definitely save a lot of money. We don't do the restaurant scene either! We have a Food Lion grocery store and with your card you get a reduction off a lot of their items, so far this year we have saved almost $3,000 dollars. Our household is my husband and me, our son and his son, our other son, his wife and their 3 children. Eating out would cost way to much for that many people, even at McDonald's which we don't care for anyway Home cooked food is so much better! We each buy our groceries and cook for our selves except for holidays and a lot of Sundays we have a big family meal. Chicken leg quarters are on sale right now for .49 lb, we got 50 lbs. Chicken breast are on sale so we bought 30 lbs. We freeze meat and I can meat, because you never know when a storm/ hurricane/ emergency situation is going to knock the power out here in SC. So thanks again for another wonderful informative video!
My tip for saving money on eating out is: move out to the boonies and the trip to town and back is nearly an hour. In our neck of the woods, whenever we eat out it's a total rip off as we live in a very tourist-y area. Makes the decision easy!! Besides if you get takeout it's cold by the time you get it home. If you made me guess on how much money we've spent since we moved here seven years ago, I would say it's probably $300 a year, give or take. Thanks for sharing!!
+EnchantedAlana It is a fortune to eat out here in this area as well. Took the girls out and bought them each a small ice cream - no cone. No toppings. Cost $9.01 😮
If you want to catch up with friends over food, either everyone takes a pre-made food item and water and just catch up in a park or some public place and have a kind of picnic, or if you have a public area with bbq facilities, you can arrange one person takes potato salad, one a garden salad, another pre-buttered bread, someone else a dessert and everyone bring their own meat and drinks.
One very key point you bring up is keeping good records! By that method, you can see where all the money goes. When you actually write it down, it is really amazing and a bit scary.Ina related area, I pointed out to both our kids(out of the house) that they were blowing $120 a year to "rent" Cable Modems(and not very good ones) from Comcast so they could have Internet access. I sent them links to buy better modems off Amazon for about $70 that I confirmed were Comcast approved. Next time we visited we got them hooked-up and called Comcast to switch over. They then also got faster download/upload speeds in line with what they were already paying for too! This can also be applied to DSL Modems as well...just need to confirm which ones your provider has "approved".
Fast food is the American way. lol Plus the dietary gains you can make by not eating out is amazing. Now let me put my money where my mouth is and stop eating out. Thanks for the great advice.
Did you guys know that with the money you save in 1 year you can buy a house and land in my country (in a small village of course :) ). You should check out the prices in my country (Bulgaria). In recent years a ton of european families came :). There is a TV series/reports about that. Just type "Да хванеш гората" in you tube and see :) I am big fan and love what you guys do!
Good reminder...We recently started buying paper towels after not doing that for years...we got lazy!! haha. Again, thanks for the reminder of how much we could save. ;)
We still keep a couple rolls of paper towels around for the really greasy stuff...but the rags work well for us. As for eating out, we were shocked how much we saved. It all adds up!
But Chik-fil-a is soooooo good. I've worked to cut back on eating out, mainly for health/weight loss reasons, over the past 6 months. I still indulge once, or twice a week. Can't say I'm saving too much though because I end up spending that extra money on ammo, and shooting expenses.
i guess we will not save any more money since we do all these already. Grocery store is always our "eating out " place when on vacation. We don't eat out or go to bars. Something you might look at saving more money is not using so much bottle water. My husband and I both have stainless bottles and bring our filter water with us. Save the planet and use paba free water jugs, save money too. Love the videos Thanks
We only eat out once a month if we have anything special to celebrate and we spend less them 20 bucks a month .... normally we just pick up pizzas or tacos ...
We don't eat out anymore when we go shopping we buy a loaf of bread an lunch meat pick up wa ter go to a park and eat sandwiches and drink water we have saved alot by doing this I have to grown boys that help on our property so we would spend at least 40 to 50 dallors every time we eat just the four of us I don't miss it
We are much the same. We buy a rotisserie chicken..loaf of bread and a bottle of Orange juice. Cost $10 and feeds the 2 of us plus makes 2 more meals later on.
I haven't eaten out for the last 1.5 years, no fast food or restaurant. I went on a healthy plan to get healthy and drop 64 pounds. And now have no desire to eat that food. I eat at home, and also carry Quest bars with me. I love my new health and now going to start drinking your wintertime drinks for flu and cold season. Just got my Dandy blend, Ceylon cinnamon and Blackstrap molasses today in the mail. Can't wait to try them out. I also have not been sick for the last 1.5 years and want to stay that way.
I just made my first organic protein bars. There are good recipes on youtube. There are some protein bars available online but they wont work for my family. Very few have 20 mg of protein with low salt, low carbs and are organic. I used nut butter, hemp protein, agave, stevia leaf, and Lillie’s chocolate. If the recipe nutritional analysis is correct it has 20 mg of protein, 2 g net carbs per square. When we go out of town, we take our dogs with us. We stay in hotels we know will allow our dogs to stay with us. In summertime camp out instead of using a hotel. I groom my dog, and cut my families hair. Lots of youtube tutorials on how to do that too. I do not buy clothes that need to be dry cleaned. I buy usually buy good quality used clothes.
Jamie, off topic, but I think Jeremy had a video about his vlog gear. I can't seem to find that now. Can you tell me (or link me) which video it was, please? I'm looking for the microphone info he mentioned.
great vids and great advice. one way we keep from eating out yet still have a wonderful time with our friends is to have dinner parties. invite a few friends/families over and have some quality food and fun. take turns hosting.....show off your cooking skills......play some party games. some of the best times i've every had were at friends dinner parties. it is a great way to build good friendships, solid communities and lasting memories. and you save money :D
We rarely eat out. its just too expensive. Its not that I can't afford it, its that it doesn't make sense to spend a half a weeks grocery on one meal that may or may not turn out good. I have three electric smokers, two air fryers, a fry daddy ,electric pressure cooker and a stove. That being said, I can cook chicken as good as KFC and I know the hands that cook it are clean ect.. Now if I'm around a Domino's, I will stop and get a carry out special.. LOL
I probably save a lot by making my own coffee everyday and shaving my head at home twice a week. Barber shops are expensive! And my morning coffee costs probably 40 cents
Likely I eat out more than I should, though that is declining in frequency. My few friends like mid level restaurant meals. I have eliminated drinks, sticking with water. One establishment wanted to charge for water, have a good evening...good bye. I would typically pick up something from a grocery deli when out on the road until I figured out lunch was costing me between $5-$8. Now a little cooler with frozen ice pack to keep lunch cool. Very Rarely ever buy coffee when out. I cart my insulated mug and a thermos for the day. If I do buy lunch it's a burittio with water. My one meal out each month is to a Chinese AYCE buffet... $9 including tip. Also stopped buying ice tea, home made is easily 20 times less than bought. Gave up sodas years ago. I dilute light fruit juice by half. Rarely go to a tavern and then it is ice tea, but I tip as if it were a drink...only fair as I am taking up their space. And I stick my son for the meal tab occasionally. I'll supply the 2 Fer coupon. Best

$3276.00/year, & I don't drink alcohol or eat extravagant meals.
We very rarely eat out or order takeout, there's no way I'd drink Starbucks or any other coffee out, I make the best tea and coffee🙂
Now I'm embarassed...on the plus side of $5000/year...Ouch!
+Edward Clayton Don't be! Now you know!
"on the plus side of $5000/year...Ouch!"

I rarely eat out. It's also fairly easy to prepare food at international hostels. Very effective & convincing presentation
I went around the world in the last 7 years. I ate out of grocery deli counters and grocery stores. I ate well and healthy and saved thousands.
So true!!! That was the first thing we cut out. Couldn't believe we spent so much on eating out. Food much better at home!
I needed to hear this. We have a budget and we stick to it pretty much, but this is one area where I know we could improve.
This reminds me! I need to get back on a budget. That's my goal for Sunday!
Love this, not sure how I missed it until now, but I’ve seen it now! Thank you for sharing your money saving tips.
This huge problem in my family !!! Thank you so much for this video...
+08rhanna Aww welcome guys!
I love those type of videos where you talk! this is my third time watching this video :)
We hardly ever dine out! I just finished a batch of peanut butter oatmeal bars. Dropped the store bought version a few months ago. Big savings was making homemade cloth replacements for paper towels. Amazing how we we're just tossing money away.
Not to mention the health benefits of preparing your own food!
Stopped eating out weekly & so far I've saved $1850.
Very good advice. We had increased our eating out while the house was on the market to keep the kitchen clean...it does indeed hurt the budget!! 🤑
Our dinning out is cooking on the grill! Great tips!
+Mrs Soap Peddler's Homestead Lol! Yep!
Awesome Nancy! Yes soy is in just about everything isn’t it?!
This is also a good time to start saving, because there is the Christmas madness coming - well for some, I don't get too wrapped up but I know a lot of people do and that's a lot of money to go into a Christmas fund and stay out of debt.
We spend less than $600/yr eating out. We don't drink alcohol and I don't drink soda.
Same idea sorta, we almost always bring home half of what was served. Two-for-one from a different angle.
We have been doing the same thing too. It's just cheaper to make it yourself.
And it tastes better!
Good to know how much we would have saved IF we would go out 😊
There was a year we did go one night a week, I usually ordered a baked potato and a spinach salad lol
Great. Video, food for thought 😀👍
Great vid..we Don t eat out either. I think most people Don t realize how, much they eat!
Wow, this video really opened my eyes! I am single and eat out alot! I love the tip about eating out at the grocery store! Super great idea!!!!
Two dollars a week on dining out. Not bad. Over the next 10 years your kids may be moved out so the savings will be more. Coffee and water bought at gas stations is a huge waste that can be saved on. They charge more for that and make more profit on it than on petrol.
That is FANTASTIC!!
Meal planning is so exciting because I stay on top of my budget, I know i am using things in the pantry and the freezer and I am not wasting fresh veggies.
interestingly, most meats can be cooked from frozen, even in the food handling official guide,, its safer. I do it all the time now.
Good advise! I make my own low carb high protein bars to take along. Saves money and taste better.
Good video Jamie.
Great tips!
Eating out with friends is one of my most favorite things to do.
+amradco - This is easily evolved into hosting each other for dinner parties at home. Less money, better food. No rules. 😏
Good idea!
Congratulations! About 30$ for 2 X2 a month sometimes
As always good advice, thanx Jaime
But while Momma is still workin -- we're going to go out once in awhile where someone brings me many cups of coffee and takes the dirty dishes away --
a little slice of heaven! LOL!
+Michigansnowpony Well yes...and you pay for that "luxury" 😉 For a quick easy meal with little cleanup I just open some hime canned soup or roast
Michigansnowpony we are very frugal but sometimes you need to enjoy life too.

I'm going to only eat Sunday's only .. yes I can thanks for vid .. have a great day 😀
+Rudy The worker It really adds up!
+Rudy The worker Do it!
Amazing advice!!!
+VIP Piggy Girl 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Ya that shouldn't be too hard! Sounds like an ideal place to move :0)
+Natasha S. Thanks for watching!
Your subscribers are growing FAST! 2K in a few day! Great job. I came across your canning video and then a few videos more, I became your subscriber. Thank you for sharing your stories and your journey. You guys are down to earth. Look forward to more good videos like this :D
+Ying Carilyn Zhang - Welcome!
+Turtle Party Thanks for sharing!
we never eat out - good to know how much money we might be saving!!
+GrandsonofKong Yep! Very important if you want to know exactly where your money is going
Fast food is the American way. lol
Plus the dietary gains you can make by not eating out is amazing.
Just type "Да хванеш гората" in you tube and see :)
I am big fan and love what you guys do!
I can easily have tacos for 3-4 days making them at home or what one night out would be✌️
But Chik-fil-a is soooooo good.
+VicariouslyVintage ruclips.net/video/hmpGpvQ5a4g/видео.html We also have some listed on our store page on our blog (see description for link)
Thank you so much! I think I was confused by the title, because I saw this one when I searched, LOL!
And that is post tax, you pay tax on that money before you go out and eat
great vids and great advice. one way we keep from eating out yet still have a wonderful time with our friends is to have dinner parties. invite a few friends/families over and have some quality food and fun. take turns hosting.....show off your cooking skills......play some party games. some of the best times i've every had were at friends dinner parties. it is a great way to build good friendships, solid communities and lasting memories. and you save money :D
Seems that is lost to the newer generations. Great suggestion
Great video!! Thank you!! It would be a LOT! 🙄
LOL
I never like math before, but now I
REALLY hate it! :)lol
I may eat out twice a year, it's mostly frozen crap anyway
If you are hungry and in a grocery store just walk around and eat.
That is what my daughter does...with the samples of course ;0)
I probably save a lot by making my own coffee everyday and shaving my head at home twice a week. Barber shops are expensive! And my morning coffee costs probably 40 cents
I never ate in a restaurant until I was 18.
That assumes that you're going to put that money away, otherwise it just dribbles away in household bills.
Essem Sween paying off household bills (debt) is a great way to use the eating out money. Feels good to watch those bills shrink 😊
Best
BWAHAHA! 😂 well at least you provided the coupon!
I hope you bank the money you're saving! It sounds like you'll have a nice little nest egg in a few years.
